Save the Date: PaizoCon Online 2024!

Thursday, November 09, 2023

Hail and well met, Pathfinders and Starfinders! We’re excited to bring you some news about next year’s PaizoCon Online.

PaizoCon Online 2024 will take place May 24–27th.

Our theme for this year’s PaizoCon Online is “Educate, Entertain, Inspire!”—and we’ll be theming our content to match. Learn the basics of Pathfinder and Starfinder, enjoy broadcasted actual plays, and find out what the future holds here at Paizo!

This year we will be expanding the selection of panels and events being held in our Paizo Events Discord server. On top of public panels on our Twitch channel and the free, no ticket required hangout spaces and staff AMAs, we will be hosting ticketholder-exclusive games, panels, and social events via the Discord! Purchasing a ticket to PaizoCon Online allows you to participate in these events, as well as Organized Play and Community Play games throughout the weekend.

PaizoCon Online 2024: Save The Date: May 24th through the 27th

Introducing “PaizoCon @”

We tested the waters of a concurrent in-person event last year, partnering with KublaCon in California. This year, we’re excited to announce “PaizoCon @”, a program that brings PaizoCon Online gaming to a selection of in-person events!

We will once again be partnering with KublaCon in 2024—not only offering in-person Organized Play gaming, but also a physical space within the con to watch our livestreamed PaizoCon Online panels!

We are also very excited to be partnering with a selection of local game stores throughout the United States and beyond! Be on the lookout for an upcoming list of participating friendly local game stores!

As PaizoCon Online gets closer, we’ll have more news about the panels, events, and more! We’re looking forward to seeing you at our annual celebration of all things Paizo!

Nice, looking forward to it!

I'd be happy to see if I can talk to Hex and Co here in NYC about running some demos out on their sidewalk seating for "PaizoCon @" that could be a lot of fun (much warmer than trying it during PaxUnplugged!).

I guess I need to officially mourn in-person PaizoCon, cause if it isn't coming back this year, it isn't coming back. That's a shame, because that was my favorite large con.

I'm happy for the people this works for.

I'll keep an open mind about tie-in events. There's no way I'm traveling all the way to California for a satellite con, but if there's something closer I might.

Glad to get the info, cause I was wondering if I needed to put it on my calendar, but disappointed overall.

This is so sad. I was really hoping Paizocon would be in-person this year.

Online conventions just aren't the same.

I agree, like online is good in some ways, but I'd like the option to go to be part of the community and attend the events.

Just isn't the same. I'm hoping in 2025 we at least have hte option to attend in person.

Well this killed the last of my hopes for an in person con experience again returning. I’m glad I got to attend the last full con in 2019 as I suspect that we will never again see something like that again. Online cons are never going to really replace the experience of being with a group of people who all come together for a love of a shared game. And while I had hopes that we could return to such a fun time again, that could have both an online and in person component. I have the feeling that the time of us all gathering for 4 days of gaming is now a nostalgic time in the past. Kinda a bummer for me. Hope those of you love online cons will have fun though.

Very interested in the Paizo@ stuff. I assume this would probably be funneled through local VOs to find locations?

Feeling sad about the lack of a physical PaizoCon is valid. To set expectations, I don’t see a physical convention happening for the foreseeable future, but we are exploring hybrid alternatives.

For context, we shared some of our thoughts last year in our ”PaizoCon Online 2023 Invitation“ blog and asked for recommendations from the community, which you can see we are incrementally implementing.

Online conventions are more broadly accessible and we’re leaning into that.

As a note KublaCon was by far my favorite convention to attend every year before PaizoCon moved to Memorial Day and competed.

Assuming everything goes well I'm excited to finally get to return in 2024.

I've figured out that I can run my part of PaizoCon from my brother's home in the Bay Area, so I plan to go to KublaCon with him when I am off duty.

Yeah, this makes me very sad too. This was the only Con that was large enough and close enough to justify the time and money. Was also bummed when Penny Arcade who is local to the PNW decided to put their big TTRPG/Board Game con in Philly.

Now i've just resigned myself to likely never going to a in-person con again (at least of this size, and especially Pathfinder focused). Trying to see how i can make GenCon when Starfinder 2e is released, but as always, due to cost, it will be a long shot.

I'm not surprised. It was local to me and I didn't like going after a few years. (The last year I went in 2019 was particularly disappointing.)

Would PaizoCon@ also be viable for Game Stores or locations in Europe?

We do have a European location in the pilot program this year, and if we expand in future years we'll be sure to open it to stores worldwide!

We may not be PaizoCon, but Gamestorm.org is the last weekend in March and just a couple of hours south of Seattle at the intersection of I-5 and the Columbia River. We are 4 days of all things gaming. There will be several different organized TTRPGs as well as card games, board games, a bit of LAN action, some LARPing, pick a genre of gaming and it will most likely be represented. Shameless plug over, I too mourn the loss of an in person PaizoCon. I really do not enjoy playing online (with the exception of Ever Quest). For me part of the enjoyment of gaming is sitting around a table and BSing while we play.

I guess my group will be skipping again this year.

For the love of Golarion, bring back the in person PaizoCon!

I appreciate the Online version more and more as finances shrink while personal health/safety/travel concerns grow.

Thank you for keeping this a viable option!
