The most recent update on Pathfinder Arena includes plenty of exciting news. The wonderful cover art of the core set, realized by Wayne Reynolds, is completed. The logo underwent some changes too and we are proud to share the definitive cover of the game.

We have also completed the sculptures of the eighteen miniatures included in the core set: four iconic heroes and fourteen monsters.

In the last update we shared the news of the first survey aimed at the community: eight iconic heroes were voted to be included in the first expansion pack. Fumbus and Seoni were the most voted and they will be included in the heroes’ expansion pack.

A second survey is online, this time on which monsters should be included in the monsters’ expansion pack. Pathfinder Arena divides monsters into four tiers, one per each round of the game. The higher the round, the stronger the monsters.

The range of monsters eligible for the survey are:

  • Tier 1: Goblin Pyro (a group of 2-3 miniatures), Ghoul, Orc Warchief
  • Tier 2: Cyclops, Harpy, Gargoyle
  • Tier 3: Hobgoblin General, Nightmare, Fleshwarped Drow
  • Tier 4: Lamia Matriarch, Onidoshi, Mummy Pharaoh

The most voted monsters of each tier will be included in the expansion pack.

Join the Facebook group to vote for your favorite monsters. We will add them in the future campaign!

The crowdfunding date is yet to be determined, as well as the platform hosting it. Subscribe to the Pathfinder Arena webpage to be updated on this project and be notified of the crowdfunding campaign.

Would be cool if this included something for the TTRPG.

Like how the comics and card decks have spells and characters.

Are these at 28mm scale?

How did I miss this?!

I checked out the website, the first announcement blog, and this one, and I'm not seeing anything about whether these minis are 28mm and whether they are pre-painted or not. Does anyone know or can you provide a link where they mention these specifics?

I don't think that they've formally confirmed scale or manufacturing process for the minis. Based on the promo art, I'd expect them to be unpainted, much like other board games.

Giochi Uniti informs me that yes they will be. They will be unpainted and intend that they could be used in our tabletop RPG as well as their board game.

Dungeoncrawlers are a crowded market, so I'd like to see integration with Pathfinder (eg. ways to play my Pathfinder character in Arena), miniatures usable with the Pathfinder Beginner Box and other popular Pathfinder modules, support for missing players (eg. players can drop in and drop out of a campaign), and GM-less campaigns for us boardgamers who don't have enough players for an actual RPG! :/

This is not a game with campaigns, and there's no GM. It's a board game, not a "board-gamified" TTRPG like Heroes Quest or other "TTRPG-Lite" board games. It's an arena battle game with a single session beginning and end, and it doesn't use Pathfinder rules. (Some parts are inspired by it, and the "minis" are usable in real pathfinder games, but that's it, from what I understand.)
Also, it's competitive, the goal is to "push" the monsters on the other players to be the only survivor.
