I would love to switch editions but am "stuck" in the Adventure Path for the foreseeable future so a conversion would be the perfect way to go.

As we don't have any current plans to convert Rise of the Runelords to Pathfinder Second Edition we are thrilled that Band of Badgers is doing so. I foresee a roundtable of guest GMs at a future Paizo Con sharing their conversion stories for us all to learn best practices.

Ok. Nice. I was hoping they converted it. Having GMed part of it for PF1 and really wanting to GM it for PF2 (along with the rest of the trilogy), I'm very stoked about this!!

I wonder if the gobbos will be more nuanced given all the great material we’ve seen since 2e was released or if it’s going to play like a Spielberg movie, again?

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: Not without jumping through more legal hoops than would be practical.

The "Rise of the Runelords" adventure path is Paizo's intellectual property; BoB can't just go ahead and sell copies of it, any more than you could sell copies of a book that you had bought (even if you'd translated it into a different language).

Bob could publish copies of their conversion material. So they could explain what they changed (skill checks, monsters, etc.). But there are limitations. A major one concerns artwork. In general, you can't use any of the artwork, be it from the adventure path, a bestiary, or anywhere. An exception is artwork that has been published in a Paizo blog. That can be used, but only under the conditions imposed by the Community Use policy. In particular, it says you can't charge for it.

Obviously this isn't a 100% "No" - Paizo obviously came to some agreement vis a vis "Kingmaker", where the hardback adventure path is available for both 1e and 2e variants of Pathfinder, and even for another rules system. But I wouldn't consider it likely that anything similar would happen here.

I'd be happy with simple notes on their conversion. Something I can use with my 1E copy.

Also... writing conversions just for you when you GM it, and writing them with sharing them publicly in mind is completely different. It’s a lot more work making your notes « readable » for random people, and when converting, you’ll usually ignore the parts you know your players will skip, or adapt some parts for your players. Making sure your conversion stays relevant for a large number of groups like the original product is more work. And that’s without thinking of the probable changes they will put in to adapt it better for a stream...
But I know some people that did a conversion of this AP... And they tried to make it shareable... I wonder how much they managed to convert.
