The Oblivion Oath Begins!

Monday, April 1, 2019

Four unlikely heroes set sail from the port of Vellumis aboard the Sleepy Sea Cat, a slow-moving barge sailing the waters of Lake Encarthan. Packed with travelers and cargo, Captain Heliana Ironeye assures everyone of a smooth journey north to Ustalav before turning south and making for the elven port of Greengold, but tensions aboard remain high. Terrifying rumors out of the west, combined with fires throughout the city have set folk on edge, and the barge contains more than a few eager to put Lastwall behind them. In the case of our heroes, that could not be more true...

The Oblivion Oath, a Pathfinder Second Edition Actual Play Twitch Stream, premieres this Thursday, April 4 at noon Pacific time!

Over the past month, each Oblivion Oath player has taken the time to sit down with Dan Tharp, the producer of the show, to talk about their character and reveal a bit about what makes them so special. If you missed these broadcasts, catch them all on our YouTube channel!

Meet the cast of characters:

Okay, so, this definitely sounds hype and all, but...

I'm looking at the post date and worrying because I've been turned bitter apparently. Are we sure all is Kosher here? Honestly I'm surprised no one has pointed it out. XD

“this definitely sounds hype” ??????????

Hey everyone,

I hope this is the right place to make a suggestion or two.

If you go back to the video to say 00:19:56...

I know this is going to be a sacrilegious suggestion, and it's a two-parter - but...

Could the players have a name plate, showing their character name on a colored background - each a different color - which will match the second part of the suggestion?

Paint the miniature bases the same color as the name plate!

This allows us to easily remember who is who in a combat - black bases are npcs/enemies, colored bases are our stalwart band of heroes. It will also allow us to see how much trouble they can get in as their miniatures will stand out better. It will help the detail pop, especially for those people watching on devices with smaller screens.

It was a great start - looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for your time,

So, first off, thanks for watching. That is a fine tip you have there and something I will look to get put together for a future stream once we have the character minis locked down a bit more. Right now we are still using some stand-ins and are looking for a good way to make these pop a bit better.

See you this Thursday!

True, You already have colored bases for pawns in your warehouse. Use the Character-Art for homemade pawns and put them in the colored bases.

Mixing pawns and minis is a great way to distinguish PC's from monsters.

Wow, what a great session! Longer journeys (especially by boat or ship) are tough to run; many GMs tend to either include too many details, NPCs and encounters, or almost none at all. Jason shows masterful pacing here, which is IMO even more impressive when you consider that this is a lunch break campaign. There are enough details to make the barge, its crew and passengers really come alive. Bravo!

I just LOVE the storyline so far, it's ob(li)vious that there is something really, really bad going to happen very soon! And those NPCs, man, what a sinister bunch they all seem to be! :)

I have a humble wish; perhaps we could get 'Oblivion Oath' in published form, is there any chance for that?

Thanks for clarifying, lol. I did not realize that my use of modern slang would generate such confusion. XD

This request has been made by a number of people, and so far the answer we've gotten has been "definitely maybe possibly who knows."

But the more people who ask, the better the chances are, I'd guess...

I don't remember if I said this already, but the players have very strong ideas of who their characters are which I appreciate.

I loved Owen having Qundle trying to put off the flames with his body even though that wasn't really an optimal tactic - it's great when players really interpret their characters to the hilt.

That would be great! If it isn't going to happen, I will send my imp squad and Little Tim (my degenerate pit fiend servant) to steal Jason's notes and deliver them to Westcrown. Be warned, Jason, you don't want to meet that bunch of mischievous little devils!

Yeah, that was great roleplaying; all in all based on what I've seen Owen seems to be a fantastic roleplayer, always playing each character according to their nature, even if it means making "suboptimal" choices.

Great second episode. :)

Now that 2nd Edition is almost out. Is it possible for the players to post a copy of their character sheet when they advance through their levels?
