Beware the Sea and Garden

Friday, July 21, 2017

Hello and Happy Friday! This week we're diving in with aquatic and marshy foes found in November's Pathfinder Battles: Maze of Death set. Let's start off with the giant moray eel, a large uncommon miniature. These guys are scary enough in real life, let alone when they are twelve feet long. This mini fills out its large sized base, and is coiled to strike at any PC foolhardy enough to come too close.

Next, we have the sea drake, also a large uncommon. I love the clear frills, and the pose, which could work above or below water.

The ulat-kini warrior and mystic, both medium commons, are based off of artwork from the Strange Aeons Adventure Path. Perfect for lurking in marshland or dank dungeons!

And, as we know up here in the Pacific Northwest, where there's marsh, there's fungus! The medium common purple fungus and medium uncommon ghost fungus are the bane of low- and mid-level characters adventuring through the Inner Sea. Don't let them hit you with tentacles or those teeth!

To wrap up this week, check out the medium common mind frond. I love the alien like texture to its "mouth"—gross and cool at the same time.

Check back next Friday for more previews from Pathfinder Battles: Maze of Death!

I love the fungi. They are sorely needed additions to my collection. The Mind Frond and Moray Eel are fantastic too.

I keep thinking that I've got a complete collection, and I just don't need more minis.

There are four minis here that I would have loved to have even in the 80s...

that ghost thing looks like a fun guy.

yes yes more weird stuff more yes weird more

Awesome!!!

Liberty's Edge

Are these the first ulat-kini prepainted minis?

Seems like they might be useful for Ruins of Azlant too.

Dark Archive

Wow, three minis from my wishlist!
I thought i had to use the D&D Dark Naga in place of the Giant Moray Eel, but here we are.

Also the Violet Fungus is a common?
I'll take half a dozen with my case, please.

Three or four Phantom Fungi will be a nice addition to my diet, too.

Thanks for the 7 minis preview, Mike!

There has been one before in "Legends of Golarion (#24).

These two have been taken from pages 28 & 30 of AP # 110, although the images have been tweaked a little.

They are the only Ulat-Kini with full-body art in the issue (and in the AP too, i think).

We have now seen 5 of 12 large minis and know what two others will be.

As the last set had at least 8 minis taken from the pages of "Hell's Vemgeance" and the two Ulat-Kini are from "Strange Aeons", we can probably expect more minis taken from that AP.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Good full body images from Strange Aeons:

-Cleric of Hastur (AP #110 page 73)
-Pairaka Div (AP #112 page 46)
-Dorvae (AP #112 page 34)
-Pallid Mask (AP #114 page 65)
-Gangster Investigator (AP #114 p 74)
-Flapper Investigator (AP #114 p 75)

Absolutely awesome. 7 minis in one spoiler, all incredibly useful, well to me anyway. These look great. I especially love the plants, been waiting sooooo long for a violet fungus.

The extra two ulat kini make me very happy. I was wishing for a few more sculpts to flesh out the ranks and bam! Here they are.

Very happy indeed

Scarab Sages

I love the plant/fungal minis! So cool! I also like the eel.

Just one quick observation:

Wizkids has updated it's release schedule yesterday and "Maze of Death" is still an october release.
That release date most likely won't be changed to a november release in my experience or they would have changed it with the update.

The exact release date hasn't been given (it will probably be announced in a month), but the most likely date is october 25th.

That would explain why Paizo lists it as a november release, as they won't have the product early enough to ship it out with the october releases.

They DID make a seperate early shipment for the last PFB release "Crown of Fangs", maybe they will do so again.

Since we only had two preview blogs in five weeks and have been shown 10 minis renders out of 52 in the set, i'm gonna spoil four additional ones that will be in the set for people still on the fence of ordering a case or not:

:

-Guhl (medium) probably uncommon
-Vampiric Mist (medium) prob uncommon
-Viper Vine (large) uncommon
-Young blue dragon (large) rare

Only eleven weeks till the release date, in my opinion this will be one of the best "monster" sets of them all, especially the case incentive of a huge (3x3) Air & a huge Water elemental warrant a case order.

Checking every friday since that statement :-)

Well, if we're going to get around seven pieces each blog, I'd expect longer intervals between them. I really like what has been revealed so far, and hope the hits do continue whenever we get more.

Hi Marco, do you have any idea about the date they may preview some more miniatures??

I hope next friday the 11th, but with Gen Con coming up, i could understand if not.

Maybe during Gen Con (17th-20th august)?

Off-Topic a little, sorry:
Mike, it would be great if we could get a Starfinder minis preview (which doesn't replace the Pathfinder one) sometimes in the near future, because the versions of the computer renders on certain pre-order sites are very low res and because people should of course be able pre-order them from Paizo (some don't even know there will be miniatures), even if their ETA is october -december.
Thank you. :-)

WARNING OFF TOPIC TOO

Before they delete my comment again, how do you find the tomb of annihilation minis and the premium case?

Gentlemen, there are plenty of other sites that discuss all lines of miniatures and even post comparison pictures. Perhaps you might take this conversation to one of them so you don't have to live in fear of being redacted. I really like PlastiCrypt.

That they would wait for GenCon for announcements make sense but then...

I (respectfully ;-)) hate Michael for that last sentence of his post:

Yeah, he probably planned to do one (he´s very reliable judging from the past blogs frequenzy), but something probably got in the way.
That happens and i can see this month be very stressful with Starfinder release and GenCon 50.

But of course i also hope for a preview today (doesn´t need to be as big as this one even). ;-)
