Still standing, huh? Let's change that...
Acid flask: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 (vs AC 5)
6 splash acid damage
Vreekka 5-foot-steps up and tosses another acid flask right between the goblins in red and blue rags, splashing them with the corroding liquid. see map
no crit possible for the splash damage

GM Shadow Dragon |

The two goblins howl in pain as the acid sears their skin!
Yellow steps back and shoots at the evil Guardian XI:
Shooty, No PS: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 171d4 ⇒ 2
but misses.
Blue follows suit:
Shooty, No PS: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 = 121d4 ⇒ 1
and also misses and then falls backwards with a thud.
Red tries to move back to shoot but coughs and falls over with a thud.

Cannoli moves around the goblin to block of its escape, ”Lets put you out of your misery now, Kay? I bet that acid hurts a lot. You battled well but it’s over now.”
MW CI Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 for CI/P and B: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

GM Shadow Dragon |

Between Eadric's arrow hit, Daegon's crossbow miss causing the goblin to ignore Cannoli until the morningstar impact makes it clear he shouldn't have, the goblin falls under the ferocious assault by the group of adventurers!
As the party either moves into the yard or can see it better through the now open gate:
This small practice yard is surrounded by a crudely made metal fence and several small wooden buildings. Mud and morass cover the ground, and the sickly sweet stench of decay hangs heavy in the air. A rusting metal gate blocks the entrance to a cave to the northwest, while a second gate leads to the southeast. In the center of the yard, a stubby rectangular building sits upon a roughly hewn stone foundation. A crude depiction of a three-eyed face decorates its door.
As the last goblin falls the heroes hear deranged shouting from inside the fort On the map it's coming from the area marked H11. A loud, harsh voice screams, "You miserable hooman! You will not stop my conquest despite your evil ways. I'm going to kill you first!"
What will you all do???

![]() |

Does anyone want to loot the goblins? Vreekka is occupied otherwise...
"Hey Grizzlebin, what ist that rash on your claw? Is that new? Let me have a look."
The alchemist moves close and examines the affected skin area.
It's a disease effect. (...) Heal checks and/or Vreekka can reveal how to heal the rash.
@GM Shadow Dragon: Which skill do I roll? Craft (Alchemy) +10, Heal +4, Knowledge (Nature) +17?

![]() |

Cannoli’s ears perk up at the shouting and she rushes over to see what she can see. While she moves she hollers back, ”Don't dilly too long or I’ll have ALL the fun!”
Double Move

GM Shadow Dragon |

@GM Shadow Dragon: Which skill do I roll? Craft (Alchemy) +10, Heal +4, Knowledge (Nature) +17?
@Vreekka: I believe Vreekka made her Knowledge check on the goblin dogs to know about the Allergic Reaction special ability. I'll go with a take 10 of 27 in case she didn't (I'm not going to search the history) to know: "Remove disease or any magical healing removes the rash instantly." So if Grizzlebin gets a CLW cast on him the penalties go away.
@Cannoli: The "crudely made metal fence" and "rusting metal gate" block everyone's view into the cave/fortress.

Since she doesn’t yet see an obvious enemy, Cannoli yells through the fence, ”Coward! Come out and face me. Or are you too scared?”

Grizzlebin shrugs. "Ah, ain't nothin'!" He sneezes again. "Stupid gobbo dogs."

It's up to everyone to decide how they want to proceed.

"Looks like the gate is locked." Eadric observes.

GM Shadow Dragon |

yeah makes sense..infernal healing on Grizz...unless that cant work on him...
As an Agathion I doubt he's going to want Infernal taint hehe. ;)

If Grizzlebin rejects the Infernal Healing, Vreekka will use a charge of her wand of CLW. Just tell us what it'll gonna be, @Grizz!

Ha, we've gone through this before: Grizzlebin believes in "Just say no" to evil healing :)

The catfolk grins a sharp toothed smile, ”I’ve always had a way with metal tools and locks.”
She stands up, stows the tools and pulls out her still bigger morningstar. Slapping it against her palm she eyes the group, ”first ‘catburgler’ comment gets smacked upside the head.”
Cannoli steps back to let someone else open the gate.

![]() |

As Cannoli deals with the lock Eadric mutters a prayer to Erastil (recasts divine favor, as I'm guessing the one he previously cast is due to expire in a few rounds) and then gets ready to start shooting at the likely foes on the other side of the gate.

GM Shadow Dragon |

Update in case anyone is cornfused: Cannoli has opened the lock, Eadric has cast Divine Favor on himself, and no other PC has taken an 'action.' I used the quotes because technically we aren't in rounds right now but I want to make sure everyone has a chance to prep/act. Someone has to be the one to open that gate...

![]() |

So Guardian yelled in the direction of the voices they were hearing. Have we perceived any response coming back out at us, or a pause in the talking as if we're sensed?
Otherwise when ready Guardian is happy to open the door.

GM Shadow Dragon |

The party hears no direct response except yelling, things breaking, general chaos and havoc.
Who will let slip the Cat(folk) of War???

![]() |

After healing Grizzlebin, Vreekka looks if the now dead Goblins have any - in particular alchemical - items...

GM Shadow Dragon |

Vreekka locates two flasks on one of the goblin corpses. But does she know what they are?
Ha ha I know her Craft (Alchemy) is off the charts. It's 2 Alchemist Fire flasks.

Grizzlebin |

"Sounds like the gobbos are havin' a party in there. Let's crash." Grizzlebin helps push the gate open and lopes inside.
@Vreeka: Thanks for the healing. I'll roll the charge: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

![]() |

Guardian pushes the other side of the gate open, to find...?

![]() |

"Two vials of Alchemist's Fire? I wonder who made these..." Vreekka tucks the two flasks in her bandolier.
I wouldn't call a +10 bonus off the charts. But yes, it allows her to meet the DC of 20 with Take 10. ^_^

GM Shadow Dragon |

As Grizzlebin and Guardian XI open the gates the group sees the following:
The walls and ceiling here are covered with innumerable crude paintings, all depicting goblinoid figures engaged in all manner of violent acts. Two large metal cages occupy the north and west walls. The door to one of these cages lies torn from its hinges on the floor.
Cannoli thinks the ripped-open cage is the source of the loud sound she heard earlier.
It's dark inside the cave so most can see shadowy figures moving around.
I've changed slides and, despite the wide-open looking nature of the map, it's actually inside a cave. Anyone without darkvision won't be able to see much due to the low-light from a scant number of torches.

i'll wait til the others go...who can i see from my spot? got darkvision
Due to how I made the map Daegon is actually 5' down from where he is in a half-square. He can catch a glimpse of the goblin rider from where he's at due to his enhanced darkvision and low-light vision. Daegon would take cover penalties from Guardian XI and Cannoli if he used his crossbow unless he moves past the gate into the cave. *But* that might put him in harm's way...

Darkvision!

Cannoli, rarely wise and rarely patient, learned her lesson a minute prior when taking a flask of fire to the face.
She waits, just barely, for someone tougher than her to rush in first. But once that happens…
”FOR GLORY AND HONOR!!! Or at least a decent face to face fight maybe.”
She charges in as well, swinging at a hapless goblin in the other corner.

Guardian XI's efforts yielded in some goblin giggles but Cannoli's results in a squeal of pain and some tears.
The group hears a voice Cannoli and Guardian XI can see her; Grizzlebin and Vreekka eh maybe. call out, "Help, they're trying to kill me! Let's work together and we can defeat these monsters!"
Daegon is still UP!

GM Shadow Dragon |

Daegon must've been taking notes while watching Eadric because he too manages a shot straight through the goblin's heart and it drops over dead.
The remaining two attempt a rally:
The blue goblin bravely stands its ground and tries to stab Cannoli.
Stabby, Smite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But fares poorly and the effort is enough to kill it.
The red goblin backs away from the duo of Guardian XI and Daegon and fires its bow at Guardian XI.
Shooty, Smite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
However its nerves are apparently at it and it misses the mark.

Grizzlebin's claw narrowly misses and the rider spurs its ridiculously undersized mount to move a bit and then both attack Grizzlebin:

Bonk Bonk!, Smite, Bonus: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
But both miss! Then a sort of familiar figure (from the cave drawing perhaps?) strides forward to also attack Grizzlebin:
Sword, Smite: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 92d4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 + 1 = 13
But hilariously overswings and smacks its sword into the ground - what a goof!
