Benkost's fireball at Matriarch Szvetneera catches her right in the face. She's also unable to duck in time of the flying fireball. Blue avoids the flying flame completely but White isn't as lucky.
Glinda launches a trio of magic missiles that slam into the Matriarch's chest.
Burned and battered, Matriarch Szvetneera puts her thumbs together and sprays the party with ice.

DC21 Reflex vs 10 Cold: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
I don't know how many Hero Points I have left so i'm going to assume zero. I'm also assuming Claire loses 20 HP from this....and that we're going to wipe.
Claire screams in pain as bolts of frigid ice rip into her heart, nearly freezing the blood in her veins. She seems desperate to protect those around herself, however, and instead of healing her own wounds, she turns her head, and hollers out, "Lieutenant! Assistance, please!", calling out for a field medicine kit.
◆◆ Lt. Surkzin Healing Kit to Jessa
Healing Kit @ Jessa: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 2) = 9
Claire then uses what little, pitiful strength she has left to reach over, and touch a hand to Jessa, sending divine, healing magic into her body.
◆ Lay on Hands @ Jessa, +6 HP, +2 AC until start of Claire's next turn, +15 HP total
"Fight...Jessa...fight on...", Claire gasps, her voice freezing in her lungs, making her voice an airy wheeze, rather than words, "....for....honor....and justice...."

Claire, you have 1 hero point if you want to use it

Jessa Stanton wrote:Jessa takes the first hit, trying not to break her shield, but she really has to block the second.
↺ Shield Block. Although it really doesn't matter which I block, shield is broken but not destroyed either way.You didn't raise your shield. Reactive shield snaps the shield into place but it's not a shield block. Unless I'm missing something?
Your last 3 actions were - Firozet, Step, Strike
Whoops, you're correct. And no point in Reactive Shield anyway, since all of those attacks either missed without the shield or hit with it.
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Jessa collapses, before Claire heals her.
But she went down, so that moves my turn, right?

Bramblespine tries to finish off white with a barrage of force.
force Barrage vs White: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) + 3 = 9

![]() |

Goofed slightly. White dropped from Granny's spell. Fortunately, both their attacks missed Jessa so there's nothing to fix. Redirecting Bramblespine's attacks to Blue instead.
Jessa fails to get out of the way of the icy spray and collapses. "MEDIC!" Claire screams and Lt Surkzin tosses her a healer's kit.
Bramblespine points at Blue and three darts of force spring forth and slam Blue right in the chest.
In healing Jessa, however, Claire is caught completely by the icy blast. She survives, but only just.
If I'm reading this right, it's 2 actions to request the healing kit, and one action to use it. So Claire needs to choose between the healer's kit and Lay on Hands

Blue toughs out the rot but Matriarch Szvetneera doesn't. Her body decays and she drops. Blue takes one look at his fallen charge and decides he's not being paid enough to join her. He makes a run for it.
COMBAT OVER
With Matriarch Szvetneera defeated and her plot revealed by her own admission, the rest of witchguards she enlisted to attack the estate retreat. Anastasia, Calix, and the other representatives enter back into the room, each with some superficial injuries that Calix insists aren't serious. Queen Anastasia thanks you for your help and asks if you have any suggestions as to which train proposal(s) she should look at more closely. Since the demonstrations were cut short by the violence, it will take her time to reach a full decision. Finally, more to herself than the party, she asks what should be done with winter goblins. Calix jokingly suggests 'winter goblin soup' for dinner, to which there is a clamoring from the goblins to expose their good traits and that they want to help. The dromaar gives a performative sigh and appoints them 'consultants' to prevent others from sneaking into the estate.
You can RP your outros while I get your chronicles ready. Thanks for playing all!

With the matriarch fallen to Granny's dark-sorcery, the once-was Goblin allows herself a raspy chuckle like dead leaves blowing over cobblestones.
She then gets to healing her fallen friends.
***
"The Goblins are just overly enthusiastic and well-meaning people, I am glad a place has been made for them here" Granny muses softly.
"Farewell, fellow Pathfinders. I will no doubt encounter you again in this life or your next..." Granny and the wolf are ready to depart.
Thanks GM!

I might stay here for a bit. After all Irrisen is my home. As for the train proposals, I think the one with the skis is the most promising. Plus I'd like to do further research into those 'dollhouses', with Her Majesties permission of course.

![]() |

There's actually one decision you all need to make:
* Should the contract go to an Irrisen-based contractor
* Should the contract go to an outsider
* Should the Matriarch's design be disqualified?
This one's basically the A-B-C boxes for reporting.

Not that it matters too much, but it would've been the medicine kit first. I'll move the Lay on Hands into this post instead lol.
Claire breathes a sigh of relief as Firozet's concoction spells the doom of Matron Szvetneera, and the remaining guards flee for the hills. The aura fades, and Claire soon feels her constitution coming back to her, her defenses back to their, frankly, rather flimsy previous status. Before anything even resolves, she recognizes the battle is over. "What a relief.....honor has been restored....at last.", she remarks, beginning to tend to everyone's wounds.
At the remarks about the trains and the goblins, the monk speaks up, "I believe the wargs had a particularly interesting concept for a train. And...the goblins were misled, your Highness. Be good to them, I believe them when they say they only wish to be helpful."
----------------------------
Once she has done all she can to tend to everyone's wounds, Claire finally, finally takes her mask off. There are tears on her cheeks that have long since frozen to her face, but a smile finds her regardless. Despite the danger, despite the failings of earlier, she is present and seems uplifted. She begins to unwrap the Wayfinder, and place it around her neck again. "I understand. Pleasant journeys, Granny. Maybe we will see each other again one day.", she remarks, before turning to Glinda.
"Yes. Yes, that would be good. Let me join you, Glinda. I must understand more about Irrisen. Besides....perhaps if I spent more time here, it would be a good test of my fortitude...", Claire ruminates, flashing the sylph witch a friendly little smile.
I am fine with the contract going to the wargs. I forget who is who, it's been too long. Claire wouldn't disqualify the matron's design, no.

"Ugh. Well, all's well that ends. Or something like that."
Jessa cleans and sheathes her sword. "Y'know, I think those goblins would actually be good at that job." She shakes her head. "The matriarch was clearly planning this from the start. It might just have been about cheating, but I don't think you should trust her design."

"You fought bravely, Jessa. Today, we all can lift our heads with pride, knowing we set things right.", Claire encourages the warrior, even if it had been a rather difficult, and nearly deadly battle for her.

Well if Vilmur would be here he would say that the thing must stay in Irissen's hands. But Benkost has another approach and he votes for Ivinder with the Matriarch's design disqualified.

No strong opinions here.

Glinda will take the same option as Claire.
OK. That'll be great. My parent's place isn't too far from here. You could probably stay there with me. And I can always show you around if you like.

Claire seems to perk up at that, nodding. "Yes, please. I don't know when i'll ever be around Irrisen again, and....and it's not that often I get to experience the local hospitality. I am honored that you would extend an offer such as this....thank you."
She takes a moment to remove the frozen tears from her eyes, the peppy mood seeming to come back rather quickly now.
