General Notes:
I try to post every day to keep things moving, and if you can keep a similar pace, that would be great. We all have real life interruptions of course, so if you can't post and we're in the middle of something like a combat, please give me bot instructions or I'll assume your PC does Total Defense.
Please place a good array of information in your character header. Knowing your PC's EAC/KAC, Perception mod, Initiative mod, etc., saves me a lot of time when doing posts. If you need help figuring out how to format that, we can help you. Important: I don't keep track of your character's stamina, hit points, resolve points, or daily resources. You need to do this yourself and update your tagline as the game goes on.
If you want to earn extra GM love and you're not playing a pre-gen, posting a full character sheet in your profile is great. That way I can look stuff up and answer my own "how did they do that?" questions. Related, if you have some crazy weird or complicated build and want to explain anything, here's a good place.
You'll need a picture of your character for the grid scenes.
If you're new to Starfinder, Starfinder Society, or play-by-post, welcome! I'm always happy to help, and please don't be embarrassed if you have any questions.
Finally, role-playing is good! Please give your PC some personality and engage with the other PCs and NPCs. I'll gently move us along if we're dwelling too much in one part of the scenario.
Any questions, ask away!

Okay, thanks for your patience everyone. Briefing has now started in Gameplay.
Does anyone have the Chronicle for # 1-13 On the Trail of History with their character?
Haven't played that one
Istilnar |
I have not played that one with this PC.

I am looking forward to playing with all you. This character (or any of my characters) have not played 1-13. :)
Ashtif Cloudskipper |
Ah, I missed the 1-13 question. I have played that with another character (and have run it, in fact), but not with Ashtif. He missed all of the Scored Stars stuff, I believe. Must have joined up after it was over. :)

I am moving the conversation to the discussion thread where it belongs.
Thanks for the update Ashtif. I am always on the lookout for +1 for my characters. I need my minions. :)
My understanding is that you have to dedicate feats to controlling your companions or they are restricted to a move action only. Even with feats you have to expend actions to let them take actions (other than a move action) so while it is good it is not as nearly as good as in PF1.
I am trying to figure out if they are any better than Figurines of Wonderous Power which do not require any feats to direct and once activated with a Standard action does not eat up any of your character's actions in the following rounds.
Ashtif Cloudskipper |
I agree it's not as good in either PF1 or PF2. Ashtif's explorer concept makes it a pretty natural fit, so I'm probably going to get one at some point, preferably that I can use as a mount ... but that, too, eats up feats to use it effectively.
How useful it is probably depends a lot on context. For example, my Technomancer will likely at some point get some expanded spell range versatility by acquiring a Vorac, but in general I wouldn't expect using a lot of actions to command it ... once it's in position, I'd just use it to sling spells from unexpected angles, possibly from cover. I don't imagine that I'd ever need to use actions to get the Vorac to attack, so it's a case where I could see having the companion without buying any feats to make it more efficient.

Every time I fire a small arm I feel dirty. They really hosed that category of weapon into the sub-basement.
Bodo Mars |
Oh, right how many hours did we spend adventuring?
I ask because my Spacer Carapace has 20 hours of capacity. When it runs out, I just replace the battery, as I have several. Obviously it would be turned off when in the spaceship and turned off when we sleep, so I'm only referring to the time we spend on foot.
GM Jhaeman |
Okay folks, I'm back! Sincere thanks for your patience.
@Bodo: Unless someone wants to carefully go through the Gameplay thread, I'm going to eyeball it as about 24 hours cumulative you've spent outside the domes (includes the excursion to fix the generators, then the full day and night of the present expedition).
Ashtif Cloudskipper |
We left the following morning after fixing the generators, so I assumed we were able to fully charge everything and left the morning with full charge. I am in my cold-weather gear, but since I'm still running on some low-level armor, I will only activate my environmental seals when absolutely needed. And, of course, we have a couple of mobile hoteliers, so we won't need the armor activated while sleeping.
George 09-23 |
Welcome back. :)
@GM Jhaeman - Generally you would recharge your armor when connected to a recharging station but is it possible to do so from a portable battery? I don't see any official rules for this but I imagine it would be possible.

Just a heads up to everyone that I will be away from April 12th to 24th. I will try my best to post but I have left bot instructions in his tagline (Bot Me) should my character be idle for too long. If there is danger George does not want to be in the thick of it. :)
George 09-23 |
I am back from my trip from Japan. Thanks GM Jhaeman for botting my character during my absence. It is appreciated. :)
I have updated my taglines as well.
GM Jhaeman |
Okay, we're close to the end! Please roll Day Job checks if you'd like, and let me know if there's anything special I should put on Chronicles.
For those of you infected with gutmelt, the sample you brought back is enough for Dr Monsylkis to develop a cure for you, so there aren't any conditions that need to be cleared.
