The way this part is set up is as follow: there are two 8-hour block in a day during which you'll do 'training' (such as these nasty chores). At the end of every block, you can do an exploration action:
- you can either socialize with someone (such as Lifft is doing now) or
- go explore an area on the map
Currently available characters to socialize with:
Alyolan (female phentomite): new recruit
Munrusu (agender embri mystic): new recruit -currently not available
Nostog (male half-orc vanguard): the camp's 'senior starfinder' - currently not available
Tifori: your main point of contact
Vilthrattle (male feychild gnome): new recruit
Zizenzi (host shirren): your prep leader
You can also explore areas on the map - there's plenty of blanked-out areas that may prove very interesting to you
Cha'mon does a great job as a rat whacker, while Lifft flies a broom quite well.
Cha'mon can select an exploration action
---Day 1, morning---
Cha'mon [can explore]
Lifft [Socialize - Vilth]
Kat5e
Ysh'yaal
K'ssatak-Sul

DM Kludde |

Lifft - Vilth
Vilth is a feychild gnome, and one that has almost completely succumbed to the bleaching. Only a little color remains in his hair. Yeah he says, you need allies to survive here. Fortunately you've met me. You see that Zizenzi? You think he's very noble with xenoanthropological interest of his, but it's very culturally insensitive he say, stroking his almost-white hair and that's causing a lot of harm.
Need to some help with that task?
Well, this guy plays a little fast-and-loose with the truth...

![]() |

SM: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"Thanks for queuing me in." notes Liftt. Jancrast does her best to avoid getting in the way of the blooming friendship. And to avoid getting stuck with the broom. It's almost as if sweeping was most definitely not included in her duties.

![]() |

K'ssatak-Sul goes to cook food, but not only will he not eat it, but he will even refuse to watch others eat. It will explain that for embri, eating food is a personal and intimate ritual, and doing it in a group is comparable in degree of shock to intimate relationships in public in a group...
Culture: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
It seems its aversion to group lunches and dinners is reflected in its ideas about what such barbarians should eat - something disgusting (obviously).
Next, the heavily armored clam will go to communicate with Alyolan and try to find out what makes her sad and why she is here.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

![]() |

Cha'mon will explore the room north of the Quad.

![]() |

Kat spots the gym and is immediately drawn to it. Although she is an android, she has organic skin and muscles that she enjoys taking care of. She looks at the equipment there and tries to develop a better and more fluid layout. Maybe this won't be so bad, at least there's a gym
She begins moving heavy weights back and forth. Sometimes loudly banging them on the floor. Is.... is she just working out in there?
Athletics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
When taking a break between sets working, she takes notice of the doorway to A9 (solo training units) and takes a peek.

DM Kludde |

Cha'mon takes a moment to inspect the area north of the quad, which looks to be the officer's quarters. There's a camera right outside, which might, or might not be, working.
You can figure out which it is with a Computers, Engineering, or Perception check. If it's active, you can take it offline with Computers or Engineering check
---
Lifft gets no special vibe from Vilth, just a regular recruit. He doesn't seems to do his best very well, leaving most of the cleaning to Lifft. Infuriating, really. The cleaning schedule cover the dormitories (but the group's own and Vilth's, the only place he seems really interested in cleaning, as well as the gym, the quad and the restrooms adjacent to the bunk rooms.
This hall is lined with private bunkrooms intended to house new recruits. The sorry state of the wall coverings suggests these rooms have seen many years and little maintenance by the staff. Each room contains a bed and trunk. Each trunk has a latch closure, but no lock. Four of these bedrooms are currently occupied. Trunks in unoccupied rooms are empty
Further inspection of individual rooms would need a dedicated exploration action
---
Kat5e maintains the gym, which she doesn't seem to find a chore at all. She inspects the solo training units. Each unit of these four
connected structures is a private space fitted for various solo drills and exercises, including physical training (such as exercise machines
and weights) and mental training (such as touch-screen quizzes and brain teasers clearly plagiarized from the infosphere
---
Ysh'yaal is assigned to repairing a glitching projector near the entrance, and when she does that with ease, she is also asked to repair some gym equipment.
You can choose an exploration action
---
Kat5e, Ysh'yaal and Lifft all end up in the gym at some point:
The gym has one wall lined with holoprojectors and five adaptable obstacles that can be fitted with combat dummies, climbing surfaces, and other temporary structures. The “Starfinders” use this space for team training exercises and mission briefings.
Kat5e, Ysh'yaal and Lifft can roll a perception check
---
K'ssatak-sul tries his hand at cooking together with Alyolan, but the latter quickly gets frustrated with K'ssatak-sul, citing creative difference. The ensuing process of cooking gets quite tedious, and when there's finally some food, it is too late to do any exploring...
---Day 1, morning---
Cha'mon (Vermin, success) [exploring the offices, to be continued]
Lifft (Cleaning, success) [Socialize - Vilth]
Kat5e (Gym, success) [Explore solo training units]
Ysh'yaal (Repairs, success) [Can make an explore action]
K'ssatak-Sul (Cooking, fail)
---

DM Kludde |

After dinner, which is served by K'ssatak-sul and Alyolan, and which tastes... let's just say: a bit bland, two 'starfinders' return from a mission. There's an embri, clearly the junior of the two, and a half-orc who throws around a bit more weight.
The weirdo, that's Munrusu Vilth says to Lifft pointing at the embri, and the ugly one is Nostog, the senior starfinder around here.
Quite soon, Munrusu sits down at the table, and starts bragging to Nostog Did you see the look on the face of that security officer? I thought he was about to crap his pants. Nostog gives a nod, and laughs with a toothy grin, baring his canines. When Tifori gives Nostog an unimpressed glare, Nostog quickly turns around and says, somewhat half-heartedly Enough Munrusu, what did we learn about respecting authority?
Tifori retreats to her room, leaving Zizenzi to introduce the group to Munrusu and Nostog. You are dismissed for leisure time for the rest of the evening the shirren says, and warns Nostog here will wake you at the crack of dawn, so better get a good night's sleep!
You each get TWO exploring actions to take for the evening, either explore an area or socialize with an available character

===(Morning Block)====
Cha'mon, morning block
Cha'mon takes he camera offline, and is free to approac the officer area unseen
The rooms here are furnished nicer than the rest of the complex, although notably nothing features the Starfinder logo. A comfortable lounge marks the entry to the officer’s quarters, which also contains a comm unit wired into the wall. Adjoining rooms contain a private restroom, workspace, and bed.
There are several rooms, all of which have locked doors. From the layout and size, they seems to bedrooms and an office room.
Computers/Engineering to open
Ysh'yaal, morning block
Ysh'yaal inspects the power cell. The device glows with electrical energy, and would be very unwise to touch. Is any living creature came into contact with it, it would for sure cut power to the entire complex (for a few rounds) and the creature touching it would not have a good time (unless its a hexoglin).
Gym crew
Lifft has a look around in the gym, but doesn't really notice anything of eh... note.
=====(Evening block)====
Lifft and Tifori
(Lifft doesn't need to do anymore tasks this block, that was only for the first round)
What made me join? Tifori answers, with a tone that does a good enough job of showing excitement, which may or may not be genuine For me it's the adventure, to travel to strange new places and explore never seen before planets. Unlocking the secrets of the Vast, that's what I live for.
You seem nice enough she adds to Jancrest, sounding as if she's opening up a bit what is your motivation for joining?
---
K'ssatak-Sul and Munrusu
@KSS: Is that roll intended as a 'bully' intimidate action? You know that's not going to be helpful in the long run... I'll let you confirm before I show results - if you want to change to a diplomacy roll, that may also help.
You can use Intimidate to bully a creature to temporarily change its attitude to helpful (see Diplomacy on page 139). (...) If you succeed, the creature gives you information it has that you want, takes actions that do not endanger it, or grants limited assistance that you request, but does so under duress. Such a change in attitude lasts for 1d6 × 10 minutes. At the end of this time, the creature’s attitude toward you becomes unfriendly. (...)
---
Cha'mon and the storage area
Cha'mon tries to disable the security camera, and but doesn't quite manage to get there. This one (as opposed to the last one) is definitely on-line. It's up to you to say if you want to sneak in or not, if you do, I need a Comp/Eng check for unlocking the door
---
Ysh'yaal and Nostog
Huh, wha? Didn't you already receive your orders? Nostog answers in a bellicole and stand-offish fashion. This one doesn't look to be one that readily wants to socialise, but it's still worth a shot.
Can I have a diplomacy roll to influence?

KSS
KSS remains stern, but friendly in the face of Munrusu. The Embroi Discipline? You speak of discipline? I aim to be the best, I am more disciplined than you. I shall wear the trophies on my victories. Do you see this knife? he holds up a bone cestus I got this as a token of victory when I left my planet. I seek to move up the ranks, that's why I joined. The hierarchies of Embroi, or the hierarchy of the Starfinders, any structure will do. The Starfinders know a means to a end, they didn't back off when they moved into the Scoured Stars. Discipline!
Ysh'yaal
Nostog snorts and looks at Ysh'yaal's tiefling appearance Your mother must have been quite the boss-pleaser.

He finds a collection of meticulously organised that show that Tifori works for the Downside Kings. She is reporting directly to Nostog, and she is in charge of tricking citizens into joining the gang under the guise of joining the Starfinder Society.
Tifori’s records indicate that dozens of citizens have been tricked by her in this way, with most trained here or immediately integrated into the gang.

Rise and shine! Get up! Get up! Move, you laggards! Nostog seems to be taking particular joy in rudely waking up the trainees.
He guides the initiatites to a vent network a short distance beyond the prep camp entrance. I've created an obstacle course especially for you maggots. The vents simulate an archaeological site that we'll be exploring once you are done with your training here. I've hidden a red handkerchief in the vents, that is your target. Now, pop pop, explore report cooperate he adds in the least expiring Starfinder speech ever recorded, then adds the move incouraging Move!
Let's do this together! Zizendi says to the group, already having Alyolan on his side. Vilthraittle blows a raspberry and sets out on his own, and the ever-eager Munrusu says I'll be one retrievig that hardkerchief. I have no use for you! and heads off as well.
To complete the obstacle course, I need a check from one of the following:
- Acrobatics to traverse the narrower passages,
- Athletics to climb and leap over openings,
- Engineering to bypass mechanical obstacles, or
- Survival to navigate the winding vents
Any suitable profession check might work as well

There's also a computer that is accessible via a chip reader, which no doubt stores the security feeds. Fun fact: Ysh'yaal is clearly visible picking the locks of the maintenance room on one of the feeds. (Computers to hack)

Lifft, Kat5e and Cha'mon work together in unison, and show that together they are much faster and much more effective than the loners Vilthraittle and Munrusu. Eventually, Cha'mon reaches the handkerchief first, and draws praise from Nostog Well done, squirt.

He points at the shooting range, clearly thinking Cha'mon came to practice his marksmanship. Looking supremely annoyed, he says I can get you one, as long as you bring it back to me when you're done.
Muttering under his breath, he adds wait here, takes a keyfob out of his pocket, enters the armory (locking the door behind him), and emerges a few second laser with the most basic laser pistol and a battery. blah blah basic safety he says with disinterest, point it at something, be ready to shoot it.
