The Haunting of Harrowstone” assumes that the PCs have personal ties to recently deceased Professor Petros Lorrimor.
This provides a reason for Lorrimor’s daughter, Kendra, to invite the PCs to her father’s funeral, and also explains why the PCs appear in the professor’s will. The Carrion Crown Player’s Guide informs players about everything they need to know to play characters that will fit in well with the country of Ustalav and the Carrion Crown Adventure Path. Included in this player’s guide are a number of campaign traits that players can choose for their characters—in addition to providing minor benefits, each of these campaign traits gives the PCs reasons to come to Ravengro to pay their respects to Professor Petros Lorrimor.
Character Generation:
Roll [dice]4d6[dice] (keeping the highest 3) 7 times, the seventh roll may replace any of the earlier rolls. The rolled stats may be moved around to best fit your character.
4th level
Everyone starts with one special aura. This ability will give your class a focus and other minor abilities. So if you picked Ice, you may want to be able to freeze water if you touch it with your finger. You likely would become resistant to cold, gain the ability to slide naturally on ice, or the ability to create water.
Suggestions: Regeneration, Lightning, Fire, Acid, Cure, Inflict, Draconic, Fey, Angelic, Beast.
All classes accepted, if you play an occult class you will need to explain it a lot.
2 traits.
Background skills and feat tax adjustments are encouraged. If you have any questions please ask.
I expect you each to have a character sheet, a description, a background story, personality & preferences, last I want a major flaw. This could be a physcial deformity that you try to overcome, or a mental addiction to porn. You choose! We have had several players be claustrophobic.
GM Wolf |
4th level! I intend to add more enemies and some unique undead!
Wealth by level gives you each a total of 6,000 gp. But knowing my games have so many more magical devices and such so instead you will have wealth greater by a level, so 10,500 gp!
If your rolls are under the average then you likely will get a few +2s.
A few questions: How long are you keeping recruitment open for? How many players are you taking? What races will you permit? What sort of posting rate are you looking for?
I would say it depends on demand. If we have a lot of interest, which it looks like and everyone wants a week to develop their characters we can wait for the week. We are continuing the story and when the new players are ready we will likely head back to town.
I am looking for 2 to 3 new additions.
Races: Any race is an option, if you take a monstrous race or template you lose the equivalent number of levels. So if I take a +2 template, then I only get two levels.
I am aiming at 2 posts a day Monday thru Thursday. Once we start I probably would like more than that so we can get off running. I plan to make a lot of responses around 9 pm, pacific time.

To help explain the aura's look at this run down:
If you pick fire as your aura you could cast the cantrip spark. Later gain fire resist 5 and at 5th gain
To break it down it gives you some special benefits:
A cantrip that matches your 'element'
1/day spell like ability (1st spell).
At 3rd level gain resistance to element 5.
At 5th level gain a 1/day spell like ability (1st or 2nd level spell).
and gain affinity for your chosen 'element'
etc...
If you need any more clarification let me know and if anyone has an idea but wants help to develop it just let me know.

Roll 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 1) = 12 11
Roll 2: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14 13
Roll 3: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) = 14 13
Roll 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 2) = 9 8
Roll 5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 4) = 11 10
Roll 6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4) = 12 11
Roll 7: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 3) = 11 9
That is some spectacular rolls. So 13, 13, 11, 11, 10, 9.
I will consider what I can do with that.
GM Wolf |
@GM Wolf: Is there guidance on how to roll HP? I don't think I've seen that yet. Thanks.
Oh! I don't think that was addressed in my posts above. So you may take half rounded up or roll for them. Full hp for 1st level. Also if you do choose to roll you may roll twice.
So for a 4th level paladin:
2d10 ⇒ (8, 1) = 9 8
2d10 ⇒ (7, 9) = 16 9
2d10 ⇒ (7, 8) = 15 8
2d10 ⇒ (6, 9) = 15 9
Also if you roll two 1's you get max HP for that level. It almost never happens. This might be a bit different from the first time and my original players may make a second roll if they wish!

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 1) = 14Edit: 14, 14, 13, 12, 10, 9
You were suppose to subtract the lowest roll, so your final numbers were:
12, 13, 10, 7, 8, 9, 13☆☆☆
WOW! Go ahead and reroll.

1st: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12

So: 17, 13, 13, 11, 10, 10
Alteration (That I typically use) you may ask for a reroll which I will do for you, otherwise I will reroll your lowest ability score.

Calin Milotti |
Calin Milotii is a character submission from Eletido. Calin is a cleric of Iomedae, stationed in Lastwall before traveling to Ustalev.
Calin is mainly focused on supporting the party through buffs and healing. In combat, he will serve as secondary melee attacker, mostly to setup flanking for the party damage dealers.
Most of the mechanical decisions are there, except traits. I'll probably update HP to use the roll twice option.
Backstory is still very much a work in-progress.
Imrik Farstrider |
Imrik's family is a Vudrani noble family that worshiped Omrataji, a god of silver, friendship and nobility. As devout followers of Omrataji, Imrik's family showed themselves as excellent leaders which attracted the celestial servants of the Spirit in Silver and led to an influx of celestial blood into the family line. These blessings also led to great wealth as the Farstriders had access to great silvermines that they used to enrich their holdings. This wealth led to a mysterious figure appearing in the lands when Imrik's mother, Mirana, was a young woman. Mirana was the youngest of five children and so little was expected of her so she was able to spend a great deal of time showing the stranger around. She quickly became entranced by the figure and fell in love. It was not until she was pregnant that she found out her love, Eisendrache, was actually a silver dragon. Eisendrache left shortly after Mirana became pregnant claiming there was too much danger in him staying.
Imrik was born a half dragon and grew up in his grandparents home. Mirana was distant as seeing the half dragon child left to much pain due to the sudden departure of his father and Imrik believed that she blamed him for his father leaving. Because of this, he spent much of his time working with the clergy of Omrataji or his grandparents guards and learned both divine and martial skills.
When Imrik was coming of age he was out on his own in his family's when a pale man seemed to step from the very shadows of a bush. Imrik was unarmed and tried to back up, but before he could the man grabbed him with a hand that seemed to sap the very life from him. The man said, "Your father tried to hide you, but I have found you. He will feel this mark upon you!" and Imrik blacked out and woke up hours later heavily weakend and nausiated. He managed to get back to his family's home where he found that they could barely recognize him. His once prestine silver scales had been blacked.
He managed to tell the tale of the strange man from the shadows and what he said. Imrik's family had the church of Omrataji do diviniations to figure out how to aid him. They led to Professor Lorrimor from Ustlav. The Professor was quickly summoned and managed to save the slowly weakening Imrik from dying, but left him with a gaunt look and blackened scales.
When word of the Professors death came, Imrik gathered his belongings and set off to go and honor the man who had saved his life.
Imrik was largely raised by members of the church of Omrataji. The church focuses on being friendly and Imrik has taken to that. He tries to remain polite and friendly at all times even when people stare at his scarred and blackened scales. Although he will never rule his family lands, being the child of the youngest child, he also works to show the noble leadership that the church says all people of noble lineage should provide to those around them.
Due to what the Professor did to save Imrik, Imrik now has a Positive Energy Aura that surrounds him and sustains him.
As an Omdura weilding a spiked chain, Imrik can buff the party using Invocations and spells. He can fly above the fight to attack or from the second rank using his spiked chain. And although he looks odd, he has taken the polite friendship of his religious order and become a pretty skilled diplomat.
LDDragon |
A half elf who tends to favor dressing in blue. He keeps his favored weapons on him, a magically enchanted alchemically silvered tetsubo, and a cold iron nine ringed broadsword. Rai is decently fit, strength having been built up from climbing, swimming and weapon training. Unfortunately he is not the most robust of people, but still maintains average fitness, his elven blood diluting the somewhat healthy human lineage.
Ustalav might not be the first place you think of when pondering where someone of Tian descent might end up, but here we are. After helping to free a friend of Professor Lorrimor of a possessing spirit, Rai’s father Talvendrial took his family on an arduous journey to ensure the safety of the caravan guard who had been possessed, and make sure that nothing more plagued him on that journey. At the request of the Professor, they all traded notes on various types of undead, haunts, posessions and so forth. Talvendrial trained his son Rai in fighting unarmed, as well as with Hei Fengs favored weapon, the nine ring broadsword. He also taught him to use a tetsubo, to hit things harder and build up his strength.
When Kharad, a friend of Rai, went to Ustalav to settle down, he wanted Rai to go with him to help keep him safe, knowing that Rai had medical knowledge, healing magic, and weapons training, as well as lore about defending against various types of undead. Rai agreed, and travelled with him, attending some of Professor Lorrimors lectures while he was in the area.
Likes to be helpful. Generally prefers to observe when not actively pursuing a goal, and in particular, to watch for what people might be thinking without actively speaking their minds. If people are in need of healing, he is typically inclined to assist them.
His cultivation in the teachings of Hei Feng, the Duke of Thunder, has resulted in an aura of lightning about him. Those who shake hands with him may occasionally get a minor jolt of static electricity.
Anger can sometimes override his good judgement, and cause him to act impulsively, particularly if he or those he is with at the time are threatened.
Long nights of consulting and discussing with Professor Lorrimor greatly increased his knowledge of religion and lore about the undead. He is also trained in reading between the lines and spotting telltale signs of possession or enchantment. He can fight a little, and has some healing magic to keep himself and his companions healthy.

wow, lot of Clerics, Warpriests and Oracles being submitted.
And I finished deciding between Cleric and Warpriest.
Though I think I'm the 2nd one of the submissions to use templates.....
And for Flaw, well I'm going to D&D 3.5 Flaws, one that was Homebrew on the 3.5 Wikia and updated some to PF.....
It is nasty mechanically....

Ideas
"Ragnar Skuggason".
Half fiend Aasimar Abyssal Steelblood Bloodrager.
Kellid who was captured by demons in the worldwound and experimented upon. Managed to get away them moment his wings burst out of his back in a rather painfull way. Viewed with great suspicion because he is a half fiend, but the professor was able to legalize him in Ustalav so to speak. Spend some time in lastwall as both an aerial transport and a front line fighter.
Still has a chip on his shoulder concerning Iomedeans.
A towering man in full plate, massive muscles and a potent constitution.
Wolf like eyes and clear fangs. He partly uses the full plate to better hide his fiendish appearance.
Actual looks
Mechanically: Flight, very high charisma, reach, is a potent brawler and face.
Otherwise, all the "I am not locked in with you, you are locked in with me" takes you would expect of someone who maybe has seen worse.
Anti-hero vibes, at heart he is a good guy.
His aura is of the destructive Abyss, but kept in check by his will.
Ragnar seeks to control himself by being a cool and calm professional, planning fights carefully and then quickly overwhelming foes by sudden charges. He seeks to fight in unconventional ways, making use of all 3 dimensions.
Ragnar is slow to trust anyone, but his word is steel if he gives it freely, and he will treat any party member fairly. While not religious per se, he follows the tenets of a Gorrumite champion, although he has some idiosyncracies, and for example does not mind striking from ambush, but only against foes he considers himself at war with.
He can be identified as a half fiend with relative ease, especially once he spreads his batlike wings, as such, he often has to keep parts of his powers hidden.
He is highly distrustfull of nearly anything including himself.
