![]() |

Adding yet another Sor/1 to the mix, but I've got a greataxe!
Character: Eveleth

Excellent! Thank you both!

DM Carbide |

sorry my PC # is 61.
Yes, I have too many PCs. lol
With a 4-digit OP number, you've been at it longer than most of us--plenty of time to set up new characters.

I actually have a Campaign too but I forget to use the 3 digit # :)

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, it turned out that the game in which I play with this character will not end before the Outpost begins .(
DM Carbide, please remove this ally from this game.
Have a good time everyone!

Thanks for letting me know, and I've removed you from the game.

I note that this party has nobody with Cure Light Wounds on a spell list. I don't suppose anybody has access to Infernal Healing on a chronicle sheet? Otherwise I fear we're spending a good deal of gold on potions :o

![]() |

One sorcerer does have UMD iirc, but not super high. So the risks of locking out any wands they use are there.
Leon always travels with one potion of CLW, he will probably grab another.

DM Carbide |

Yep--Alton, Korgaar, Leon, Eveleth, and Howirk.

I've got a wand of Infernal Healing, we should be good!

Just to be sure, did that come from a chronicle? It's not a core spell, so you can't get one without the chronicle.

![]() |

I've only been in The Confirmation. I believe it came from there. If not, let me know and I'll change it.
ETA: It appears I may have been mistaken and I don't have access to the wand. I'll remove it.
(It was years ago that I last played this character; I had to recheck everything. My apologies.)

DM Carbide |

No problem--it's easy to slip on this, and I've gotten called on things I've missed. It'd be nice if AoN did something like the PFS-legal icon for Core, so you could get an idea of what was/wasn't allowed.

Korgaar, I think you have to exceed the check by 5 to get another piece of useful information.
I’ve seen a variety of table variation regarding that. Some GM’s assume the ID includes the first tidbit. Some give a fair amount of detail (small NE undead and include the undead traits) but the first tidbit is at +5 the DC. Some link a table allowing the PC to chose which tidbits they want to learn about (I’ve seen that table a lot). Others it feels like pulling teeth to even get a knowledge roll, or they just give all the pertinent info with no roll. Two rare extremes though.
By RAW, if you hit the DC, you get a tidbit. Each five over gives another tidbit. HOWEVER, what that tidbit is, is not defined. It could simply be that it is a CE demon or N animal. I’ve seen that argument made and followed for a fair chunk of games.
I don’t really think ANY way of doing it is wrong though, just giving my thoughts for discussion’s sake if anyone wants to weigh in.
My personal method is to ID the creature type, including traits of that overall creature group. Then I grant one tidbit of useful info and an additional one every five over. I’m one of those very lenient GMs tho, I like to see a player get a nice reward for sinking a point or more into a knowledge skill.
I also adjust the DC down or up depending if common or rare monsters. Basic zombies and skeletons are easy 5+CR. Obscure custom or incredibly uncommon monsters would get a 15+CR. It helps with those odd situations where everyone knows the enemy has ‘X’ resistance, but no one can roll the trained check or get a high CR DC.

DM Carbide |

I have a project review over the next few days, and will be slow to post.

DM Carbide |

Since Outpost is apparently using RPGChronicles for reporting, please sign up using THIS LINK. Thanks much!

DM Carbide |

I'll be out of town this weekend, and may or may not have a chance to post.

The way I generally do it is that making the base DC up to +4 gives you the creature type/subtype information, and then you get specifics on special attacks/defenses/etc. at +5 and every 5 over thereafter.

Wheee, I missed a lot of action yesterday!
Will post in Gameplay in a few hours, after work.

DM Carbide |

We've got a little less than two weeks left, and only one combat encounter to go (plus a few minor noncombat challenges). We should have time; I'll try to keep up a good posting pace.

DM Carbide |

We're about to the end, unless the nsBBEG gets very lucky in the next few rounds. Everyone except Eveleth, please add your information to the RPGChronicles link above. Alton, it looks like you started to fill it out, but left your name as TBD.
ETA: Alton, you put player name as Alton Hilltopple, and nothing for character name. It looks like I can edit that, though, if you can't.

![]() |

Done!
Would this end boss or any of the other enemies we beat in here qualify for the following Faction Journal Card goal? It’s a picky one.
Defeat a known slaver whose Challenge Rating is at least equal to your character level. For the purposes of this goal, a slaver is a creature that owns at least five slaves, is maintaining a compulsion spell or effect to control a creature for at least 1 day, or is explicitly cited as trafficking slaves.

DM Carbide |

I think the end boss qualifies; he's part of the Onyx Alliance, and they've been trafficking slaves with the Blakros family for centuries.
(Hmmm...if you decked Hamaria Blakros, would she count?)

DM Carbide |

Looks like Howirk is the only one of you left to fill out RPGChronicles.

![]() |

Looks like Howirk is the only one of you left to fill out RPGChronicles.
Apologies. Filled.

DM Carbide |

No problem, and thanks! I should be able to get this reported over the weekend.

Tanks for running, GM! GG everyone.
Alton, do you want to compare spellbooks? Korgaar's are in his profile.
Korgaar will, of course, happily show his books to Eveleth too, even if it can only lead to confused grumbling and meandering facial hair ;)

DM Carbide |

Everyone, give me a d20 check for a boon.
GM boon check: 1d20 ⇒ 6
None for me.
Also, Korgaar and Alton, let me know what spells you're trading and I'll record them on the chronicles.

![]() |

To boon or not to boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 20

DM Carbide |

Looks like a yes to me!

Cool, Korgaar will copy Prot. Evil, Comp. Languages, Grease and Summon Monster 1. Total cost = 60gp.
