Step 1) Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged!
1) Xotikeides is 5'6", 150lbs, with slightly tan skin typical of people living on Greece Iblydos. Her hair is jet-black, again much like most of the populace of the nation, yet her eyes betray her elven heritage, and are a pure blue, yet more blue than even the clearest oceans. She is notably accepting of others, knowing that acceptance can lead to cooperation.
2) Xotikeides is descended from an unknown human father, and an unknown elven mother, when magical methods of birth control (both of stopping birth, and stopping fiendish influences) faltered and gave rise to a half-elf with a few fiendish features: a patch of fur on her chest, and slightly protruding canines. All she knows about them is that they were part of a missionary trip for one of the "real" gods, hoping to convert some Iblydans.
3) She was abandoned on the island of Pharos in the archipelago that is Iblydos, an island famous for its light-house remaniscent of Thassilonian architecture and design. She was adopted by a family of politicians and civil servants who had a minor role in the administration of the island, and thus served under its hero-god: Pharimia. She considers a debt owed to her adoptive parents, and to the island and its hero-god as a whole, and is willing to do anything to protect it.
4) The few cyclopes remaining on the island of Pharos foresaw a servant of Pharimia obtaining mythic power in the far-off land of Avistan, which was an unusual occurrence outside the rite of myth-speaking... so they decided to remedy the issue by giving Xoti the rite once she was of age to venture off to the worldwound to fight the cultist of the Worldwound's shared enemy in Baphomet.
5) Xotikeides does not know that her being sent to the Worldwound is, to put it lightly, a complete shot in the dark by the cyclopes to finally raise a new hero-god for the future of Iblydos. She, as a result, has complete faith in Iblydos and most of its city-states. She is very much willing to die to protect Iblydos, even if its by proxy by preventing the Worldwound's spread.
6) She is frequently dressed in Pharimia's colours, gray, red, and yellow, and always has her holy wooden symbol -- a lighthouse with an eye in its light -- around her neck with her at all times. She, quite literally, cannot even get a decent night's rest with the thing off. She's scared of losing that connection to her home.
Step 2) List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
0) Destroy any and all Baphomet cultists.
1) One of her goals is to unite people for the common cause of closing the Worldwound wherever she can, in emulation of her hero-god's attempts to unite the others to fight the Thalassic Behemoth that threaqtens all of Iblydos.
2) The other main goal of her, despite being difficult given the distance from home, is to never forget who she is, or who she's fighting for. Sure, she's fighting for the people of Avistan immediately -- but Demons will not be happy with just Avistan.
3) I do want to see her develop as a character, I've submitted Xotikeides in various forms 4 times at this point, so seeing how she develops when I actually play her, and not revise her for the umpteenth time, is definitely a goal of mine.
Step 3) List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
1) [Known] Despite looking, and aging, like a half-elf, Xotikeides is really a Tiefling, a Rakshasa-spawn with fangs, filed-down claws, and a patch of fur on her chest. She tries her best to keep this a secret, but it's gotten out in a few different places.
2) [Unknown] Xoti does not trust gods, demigods, demon lords, and the like. Her birth parents were, in her mind, superstitious whackjobs who abandoned her the moment they noticed taint of the fiendish... she would much rather put her trust into republics, democracy, and the hero-gods. She would get along well with Rahadoum, despite being a literal Cleric. She's serving under Queen Galfrey currently, so she has to keep this close to her chest.
Step 4) Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.
1) The hero-god Pharimia herself. While Xoti has only met the ruler of Pharos a few times, every single time she has she has been awe-struck by her presence and her ability to get others to cooperate, and would do anything to be like her.
2) Queen Galfrey. The Crusader Queen noticed Xoti's innate knack for getting everyone to rally together to fight a coommon foe, and resolve squabbles relatively easy... granted most of the time it's through intimidation, but it works. Diplomacy, lies, and intimidation are necessary when your hero-god accepts anyone that doesn't want to destroy Iblydos as a worshipper, and she's picked up on most of her "faith"'s meethods for such.
3) [Enemy] Stoicheia, an Iblydan philosopher, mathematician, wizard, and scientist who traveled with Xotikeides to Avistan on ship... she is an aspiring Technic League initiate, and well-versed in both the magical and nonmagical world. She exhibits a very sort of different "moral flexibility" than Xoti does, and it has led to all out fist-fights between the two of them on the ship. They were both intelligent or wise enough to not try something that would destroy the vessel, though. (If you need class, Wizard (Spellslinger) / Technomancer pulling
Step 5) Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.
1) She speaks with a noticable Iblydan accent, although it doesn't impede her ability to communicate, it's the first thing you'd probably notice as someone from Avistan while talking to her.
2) Her earliest memory was of learning that her biological parents were likely Clerics of a true god, and that colors her perception of the crusade as a whole as too idealistic, but she's more interested in dealing with the Baphomet cultists to actually argue with the Iomedaean church,
3) Despite being quite weak, she carries her Gastraphetes (d12 crossbow) with her everywhere, relying on the physics of how the weapon works (more dependent on the weight of the user than their strength) to defend herself when the blessings of her hero-god run out.
4) She does not like the idea of gaining too much mythic power. It's not the responsibilities of the Worldwound and war that she fears -- nor is it the actual mythic power itself-- it's what comes after, when she arrives back home in Iblydos.
