Hallo, wasn't sure if I should have posted yet due to not having shopped or anything, but if that's the case, then I should be fine!

![]() |

Shopping is optional and recomended but not necessary at thesse levels.
Being downequiped just lets Idir become a subject of more stressful situations :))
If you may think whashould Idir have in possession - write in a narrative way - and I will find some proper things in rulebook.

![]() |

Tactical question: would it be prudent to keep running Sense Motives on the other guests to keep sharing that intel, or should I start making checks to hobnob with them proper now? I don't want to waste all my turns...

therealthom |

You're right. At some point sense motive will make no sense.
You have between 8 and 12 of these social rounds. (The rules I quoted said 8, but they tell me to adjust that to 12 with 4 players.) You're on round 3 and the team has very little idea of what will influence Ykris, Naiaj, or Zo!
I don't want to tell you what to do, but I think another round or even 2 of sense motive could really help your teamates make effective choices, and you'll still have time to hobnob proper.

![]() |

I tried to look up some information on "parasitic isopod" (Ykris). I couldn't find anything when I did searches on either term or both together. What is that exactly and where is it detailed in the rules?

therealthom |

The test also describes Ykris as an alien symbiote. If you look at the picture of Ykris and Jhireu on Slide 3, Ykris is the centipede attached at the base of the half elf's skull and down his spine.
It's not statted out. You can imagine it like an insectile puppetmaster ala Heinlein.

I'm kind of confused as to who's done what when to whom. It looks like on the document Naiaj is locked in, Iteration-177 is 1 away, Royo and Ykris are at 2 and Zo! is at 1, but I know you can't do the same type of check that was done on them last round, because that gives a penalty, and I can't figure out from the document which was the last checks used.

therealthom |

Doesn't matter when a check was made. All that matters is the number of times a check is tried. You can try a check 4 times in a row against a guest. The DC of the 4th check will be base + 3x penalty. The same as if 3 different PCs tried the same skill in rounds 1 3 and 5. The fourth check by any PC whether it's done in round 6 or 7 or 8 or 13
Is going to be at base +3x penalties.

Can you summarize the requirements for success again? Do we need a certain number of successes total or a certain number minimum with each of the 5 guests?
I made a spreadsheet with what I think are the results. I'll post a link to it in my shared drive.
At the top is a grid showing which PCs have had success with which guest. We've got 2 or 3 success with each guest, by my count.
Below is a list of known subjects that could impress each guest, with a check by each one that has had a success (although now I'm noticing, I should also have an indication of the number of failures with each subject as well to gauge penalties to overcome). Added that below the success checks.
Since Idir has a good sense motive, maybe Stell and Idir should spend at least one round on small talk with guests who need new topics to try.
The spreadsheet can be edited by anyone who opens the link, so if anyone finds a mistake, correct it if you like. When more than one attempt or success is to be indicated, just delete the check box and enter a number.

therealthom |

Slide 4 has my tracking of the night so far.
As a team, you need 4 successes to influence a guest.
You already know ~90% of the topics that will influence guests.
Aid other is a thing.
Stell has one re-roll.

I suppose we need 1 more success regaeding Royo and Zo! to improve their attitude. So if we still have 2-3 rolls as a team - we may try.
Thundergun may shurely remove his armor narratively, as he is still not got used to it. But I believe I am personally have no more rolls if we stick to the mechanics.

My teaching schedule will make it hard for me to post much on Tuesday through Thursday, although most of my posts for this section do not take a lot of time to compose, so I doubt it will delay things much.

I was a fan of Jethro Tull, ELP, the Beatles, and singer-songwriters like Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, and Janis Ian. By the 80s, I was less aware of the pop music scene although there was a lot of good pop music produced in the decade.

![]() |

I was born on the tail end of the 80s and deliberately refused to listen to the popular music of the 90s, sticking to classical music and film scores until I was around high school age when I discovered Queen and Styx. Those were kind of "my" bands, while my brother claimed Jethro Tull as "his" and my sister The Beatles...Then I discovered DragonForce at the tail end of high school and it began a Power Metal phase that lasted through college and now all of these tastes have kind of mashed together and fermented into my current, all-over-the-place taste in music...

![]() |

I was actually raised on classical music and only discovered pop music when I was around 11. My father was a pianist with a love of classical music and a huge record collection. I remember a few times as a kid turning on the radio and hearing rock and roll, but my father discouraged me from listening to it until my brother and I were given our own small radios. Then there was no turning back, although I love classical music and have played cello in orchestras most of my life. I find pop music since the mid-nineties to be a creative desert, with the exception of Lindsey Stirling (which, if it wasn't obvious, is the inspiration for Stell Z-Lin).
Anyway, back to the game. GM: can you explain the reroll you have mentioned that Stell has? Can she use it on the failed Diplomacy check for Iteration-177?

SD DM |

Gave Stell a reroll for her musical intro to the gala. She can reroll one failed skill check in this phase of the Gala.

therealthom |

I-177 is probably in the bank with that low-penalty diplomacy skill. Royo's the toughest nut. Culture and life science have been tried multiple times making them risky, especially LIfe Science. Mysticism is the easiest check, but I think TG is your mysticism expert and he's out of actions. Physical since is the next easiest, but who knows anything about that?

I love how it's implied Zo! wasn't actually fooled by Stell's disguise, but he was just so amused by her outrageousness that he couldn't be mad at her. XD

2 GM:
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10 =3
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 3 = 12 =5
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 3 = 12 =5
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 3 = 12 =5
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10 =3
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 3 = 14 =7
Artillery Laser: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 3 = 11 =4
I made 7 shots, there are still 13 left.

Sorry for the radio silence this weekend, folks! Gateway issues kept me from posting. Plus, Mother Nature decided to play an April Fool's joke on us by dumping about 8 or so inches of dense, wet snow on us, causing power outages that threw off my sleep cycle due to my CPAP going offline, we weren't able to get out of our garage because of said outage, so we couldn't shovel the driveway immediately, and when we did try to shovel it it was a real struggle due to how heavy and wet the snow was. I finally limped into work about 3 hours late, and stayed late too. Leaving me tired, cranky and sore when I finally got home. Very funny, Mother Nature. Ha ha. You got me. Happy April Fools. -_-

What clues do we actually have as to what the assassin's going to pull? The only thing I can think of is linked to their disguise as an AV operator, doing something like using the AV equipment to electrocute her or something, but that's more speculation based on that one detail than anything concrete...

Actually we have multiple photos, we have pattern and we've got some docs to track via Starweb

You think she's going to drop a chandelier on her? That's the most striking detail of Kuozar's interactions I can think of looking back through our posts.
