Mich smiles at everyone and says Always happy to help!

Game Master S |

![]() |

I vote for the Pegasus. It sounds like we'll need extra sensors, and there's no indication we'll be going into a fight.

![]() |

I concur. Sensors provide a wealth of information. Information which could provide significant increase in our chances of success.

![]() |

"Hey, wait a minute, you saying I can't do my job? Get the Drake and I'll run the sensors,"
I vote the Drake because if we do get in a combat, it can be a bit miserable in the Pegasus.

![]() |

I'm no pilot, but I can help!
Says Mich.
I usually prefer the Drake, but the mission seems to ask for the Pegasus

Game Master S |

I'm at a conference in Las Vegas ATM, so posting is slow until Monday. Tracking the thread, and it looks like we're not quite at agreement on the ship yet.

Game Master S |

Which ship are you taking? Checking out of my hotel now for a LONG day of flying...

Game Master S |

True.
You've got 4 days aboard while the ship gets outfitted for the mission. Spaceport 5.1 features an array of eateries, holovid theatres, shopping centers, and a few state-sanctioned clubs concealing quasilegal casinos. Wherever you are on the station, you enjoy a prime view of dreadnought Talon’s Razor docked in the spaceport’s bay.
I land at DCA around 2030 local, so I'll check in to see if everyone has posted.

Flight issues, will post tomorrow. Sorry!

Game Master S |

Sorry everyone. Flight woes and about a foot of very heavy snow made for a long day. I'm back though!
Lexicor and Amariel recognize a regal figure approaching, it's Tassada Kor, a legendary Veskarium warrior.
Tassada pauses and inspects the Pegasus. “Pact Worlds travelers?” she asks. “You’re a long way from home. Unless... are you Starfinders, by any chance?”

![]() |

”Indeed we are. And unless my archives fail me, you are Tassada Kor, a legendary Veskarium warrior. Were you expecting someone else?“ the android states without noticeable emotion.

![]() |

Mich is in awe at the sight of the legendary warrior!

Game Master S |

“Fantastic! It’s been a long time since I’ve met one of your ilk! I fought with several of your Exo-Guardians against the Swarm some decades ago. Tell me of your battles!”
She's clearly feeling out your bravery and trust worthiness.

Game Master S |

A resounding explosion ripples through the docking bay. Tassada grabs her doshko and turns, ready for a fight. Screams break from the crowd as flames engulf one of the docking bay’s support clamps, causing it to fold back in on itself. Debris rains down and a screeching sound fills the air as a single small freighter vessel breaks through the damaged support clamps, rising up and out of the spaceport’s bay.
Chaos reigns in the normally regimented settlement following
the explosion.
Each of you can take one of the following actions in the immediate aftermath:

Game Master S |

Mich quickly moves to calm the crowd, preventing chaos.
Amariel and Lexicor begin working together to check the security. The two find some security footage of the ship as it tore out of the station.
Unfortunately, RodKin has too sift through too much in the moments after the incident.
“Starfinders!” barks Tassada. “I hoped to ask you this more tactfully, but there’s no time now. I’ve been tasked with tracking down a group of weapon smugglers—that’ll be the ship you saw make a run for it. But with the damage my ship took from that blast, it’s up to you to chase them down.” She pauses, looking around expectantly. “Well? There’s a fight to be had. What are you waiting for, a formal invitation?”
It'll take the ground crew a minute to prep the Pegasus. So you can ask questions.

![]() |

What can you tell us about these smugglers before we go? Any ideas how their ship would be configured and armed?

Game Master S |

“Pahtra insurrectionists. Can you believe they don’t appreciate the patronage the empire gifts to them? In any case, I’m more concerned with the weapons; they contain an experimental form of plasma extracted from Vesk-5’s core. Not something we wish rebels to possess, understand?”

Game Master S |

As the ship departs Spaceport 5.1, Vesk-5 hangs like a glorious tapestry in the inky sky. Its thick clouds form a haze of shifting crimsons and purples, illuminated occasionally by blue electrical storms. The smuggler’s vessel skirts the gas giant’s upper atmosphere, dipping in and out of magenta clouds.
Before entering combat, you've got to first catch up to the fleeing vessel. Whoever takes the Pilot role should make a piloting check. This is NOT your initiative check, this is precombat. It's still a good idea to officially call your roles for round 1.

![]() |

Let's get this rust bucket moving.
Piloting to catch up: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
I hope that let's us catch up

Amariel, still puffing on his cigar, gets to the targeting array.
Taking Gunner

Game Master S |

RodKin punches it! In no time the Starfinder team is on top of the fleeing vessel. For that roll you can place yourself anywhere you want on the tactical map in any orientation. You just cannot be fewer than 5 hexes away!

Hmmmm Mich hasn't posted since Tuesday, which is unlike the player. I'll let the party pick his position for now so we can advance.

My Opinion is that we need an Engineer, and Mich has a good bonus. I would argue that we need an Engineer more than we need a Captain.

Nope. On to the Helm Phase.
I'll try to make us harder to hit.

Done as best as I can. At least we got the +2 to AC/TL.

Game Master S |

Lexicor, I'm still on the hunt for a good way to track it all in PbP. Feel free to open the "phase tracker." It includes in what phase each option is there. I've listed the ones available based on crew and individual levels. And yes, you got it! Also Lexicor, the Tier 4 Pegasus comes with a pretty sweet Computer, you get +4 to Computers, so your scan is a 27, which means you get a FULL scan.
RodKin isn't ready for their quick response. Thankfully his flying is fancy enough to make the Starfinders hard to hit.
Lexicor gets a nearly complete readout on the ship:
Enemy Helm: Piloting: 1d20 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 3 = 21 BUT IT FAILS! It's in your forward arc! but it launches a tactical nuke at you!
Gunner: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 for DMG: 5d8 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 7, 6) = 25 unfortunately, they still hit, blasting through the forward shields and doing some damage to the Pegasus.

GM Aarvid |

@GM your tracker is best I have seen. But I have only been in 5-6 ship combats…so part is just me

![]() |

A couple of things. First, what did the enemy Pilot fail to do? Could it have been a Flyby Attack? I also don't understand how the Enemy starship got where it is and you say it is firing in our forward arc? The current placement would imply it is firing into our port arc where we have a point defense weapon? Even if it did a Flyby, how did the facing change so drastically? Or do I have the Pegasus Arcs completely wrong? I currently think the Pegasus is facing about 1 O'clock

Game Master S |

RodKin is right. I'm currently updating, because I moved the wrong ship. Fixing now. Just a lot of editing. It failed to flip and burn, but I moved the wrong ship on the map. It should be fixed now. It's firing from it's starboard to your forward.

![]() |

Thank you for clarifying, and not getting mad at my asking.

Game Master S |

Not at all, when I'm wrong, or I've made a mistake, I want to fix it!

![]() |

It seems we are currently in the gunnery phase, so our gunner has two options: Take a shot with the the forward mounted or turret weapon (they are the same) or expend a Resolve Point to Broadside and fire both weapons at a -2 Penalty.
Don't forget to take the +2 computer bonus on your shot, or both since i don't think any of us used the two of them earlier.

Game Master S |

I try to make everything above the ******************************************** to be the resolution information the current phase, so yes, gunnery.
