1 person marked this as a favorite.

Looking for anyone interested in playing through the official Eberron campaign (Adventure Path?), starting with the Forgotten Forge in the Eberron book. Just testing the waters, to see who will be interested.

You Will Need
* One copy of the Eberron Campaign Setting (3.5e)
* One copy of the Pathfinder core rulebook (PF1e)
* One copy of Races of Eberron (3.5e)

Additionals, but not needed
* Ultimate Psionics in case you want to play a Kalashtar, or Inspired Empty Vessel.
* Five Nations to help your background.
* Blood of the Moon for PF1e, in case you want to play a shifter.
* Dragonmarked in case you want to play a dragonmarked character, and you want ideas for a wonderful background.
* Secrets of Sarlona in case you want to beef up your background for your Kalashtar, or Inspired empty vessel.
* Races of the Dragon (3.x) in case you want to play a dragonborn or kobold. And admittedly, Dragons of Eberron will be helpful in that case.
* Complete Arcane (3.x), in case you really want to create a warlock for the game.
* Sharn, City of Towers, essential for creating characters who start in Sharn.

Try not to create evil characters, I'm playing all the bad guys.

We'll start in Sharn, City of Towers.

Interested. I know the setting quite well, I played several modules in 5e (one was new and one was an adaptation from old editions). I will be glad to dive there again.

I'm definitely still interested in Eberron.

For this I'm assuming first level.
What point buy and options are you considering. I definitely think background skills work for Eberron.

point buy: 25 points.
Traits: 2 traits.
Drawbacks: None
Background skills: yes. :)

I'm thinking Warforged. In game terms I'm thinking Aegis and being a front-line melee tank.

But he was the bodyguard of a Brelish noble family, first as property, and then as a servant. He often accompanied them to the Sharn Opera House, where he learned a fascination for the theater.

Of course he has the vocal range of a toad and the expression of a post. He'll never be a star. So he's been studying music and drama. He wants to write his own show, but he feels he needs more experience in the world.

I like it so far. :)

I've always liked the noir notes in this setting, so I'm thinking about human fighter detective. He is a former city guard in Sharn who was fired from his job on a false charge of bribery. In fact, he was eliminated in such a non-lethal way because of his 'excessive' integrity. He has unusually high intelligence and wisdom for a fighter, but a low constitution - he smokes too much. In combat, he prefers his repeating crossbow and stays away from the front line. Outside of combat, he relies on his attentiveness, insight and interrogation skills. At the moment, he's broke and ready to take on almost any job, except for the one where he would need to become a bandit himself.

Ooh. Always loved Eberron... Will check to see which books I have in the library when I get home tonight.

neat!

Description:
Escher stands out from most warforged because he is covered with a constantly moving mass of iridescent ectoplasm. This moves like an extra layer of muscle, making him faster and more powerful. Because of this, he is taller and bulkier than a normal warforged. When struck, this ectoplasm flows away, letting the blow hit the adamantine plating underneath. He carries a shield and sword large enough for an ogre to use them.

OOC Description:
Imagine Venom except that the symbiote is mostly transparent, letting you see the warforged underneath. Oh, and he doesn't have a mouthful of fangs. The symbiote just has a smooth face.

History:
Escher was commissioned by Lord Thiago ir'Tonn, who belongs to one of the Sixty Families of Sharn. While he's not the most prominent politically in his house, his investment portfolios heep him a person to watch. Escher was built using some exotic wood brought back from Xen'Drik on an expedition funded by Thiago. The combination was potent and allowed Escher to harness some of the energy of Dal Quor and manifest it. Escher became the family bodyguard as well as an exotic bauble to show off.

When he was not escorting the family, he placed like a statue in their main hall. this exposed him to the adventurers Thiago funded and the theater-aficionado parties that Merilla hosted. While not a participant, he loved watching these events and listening to all of the stories. Sadly, between these he was treated like furniture. A quite boring life. Even venturing out wasn't that exciting as they never went anyplace particularly dangerous.

Thiago was a patron of the arts, and had a well-placed box at the Sharn Opera house. To him it was a status symbol and an excuse to mingle with others at his level. But his wife Merilla and daughter Viante truly loved the art of the theater. At first Escher absorbed this passively. As a bodyguard, he stood at the back of the Opera box. But he grew to enjoy these evenings and the spectacle of the stage. He learned to focus on the performances so he could play them back in his head.

When the Treaty of Thronehold was signed, Thiago was annoyed. He had some factories that used warforged for twenty-four hour labor, and now he had to pay them. He told Escher that he was now an employee and would be paid. Escher didn't know enough to see the downsides of the contract.

During one of these parties, an acting troupe brought him in to be the giant king in an impromptu rendition of their current show. Escher loved being a part of this, even though their laughter showed that he was not cut out to be a performer. But the audience too his ineptitude as comedy and he got a rousing ovation for his small part of the show. This stirred something in him. While he couldn't act, surely he could write his own shows. Viante had wrote shows as a child, and the writers were often hailed by both the cast and fans. But he didn't know what to write. He needed experience. And where better to learn than adventuring. He saw the changes in the crew of Thiago's expeditions. Even when they didn't earn a fortune, they carried themselves differently and had such good stories.

This would be his chance. He left to strike out on his own. He had enough money to get a new sword and shield and a bit of gear to travel with. Now he just needed companions.

Still very interested. Have not been able to find the copy of the old Eberron book I thought I had. Will be busy this week but if the game is going to start, will buy the PDF's early next week and make a character.

My copy is in storage, so I bought everything Wizards sold for Eberron a while ago. If you like, PM me and I'll give you my pdf copy.

I found mine. Went to our first concert in three years and either got some bad McD's on the way home or a little bit of a stomach bug there... Just starting to look through the books again.
Thinking about the character I always wanted to make for Eberron. An Elven Cleric of the Undying Court...

Very interesting. I'll be interested to see how you work with a warforged. I haven't heard of a general consensus from that group.

And hopefully the campaign lasts long enough for you to become and anti-lich.

Yes, it is interesting. I never had a cleric of the Undying Court in play before. The CRB and Faiths of Eberron talk about them extensively, however I wasn't expecting one to try their hand at adventuring.

My initial idea about this elf fitting in: He (Or she, not sure yet) is part of an ambassadorial group that recently moved into the capital city, or any large city near where the GM might want to start. This young, in their term, elf is given permission to go out into the lands and see what these humans and others are actually like.
I'll have more, but that's the basics. :)

Yes, it's a good start.

I'm quite interested, but I lack Races of Eberron. Is it still possible for me to join in?

Oh I'm sure that we can help you out if you need more information. What sort of concept did you have?

Barrier wrote:

Yes. You can still join in.

Anyone else would like to join?

Dark Archive

Have been working on the character. Looking like we have a group so i'll put a hurry on that. :)
Should be able to post it in a few days.

Let's see, human ranged fighter, Elven cleric, Warforged aegis. Barrier maybe still interested.

If we only end up with three, maybe we could gestalt to bump up effectiveness some?

That is an option.

Oooo. Eberron. Came late to that party, but I like it.

I also lack Races of Eberron, but I tend to be rather vanilla in my builds.

When are you thinking about starting?

Here's the basics of one Elven Cleric of the undying court.

Will finish her up and fluff up a background soon.

IF we do end up going gestalt, I have two options.

1) Psion. Specifically metacreativity. Would start with Astral construct to be able to add a body occasionally. Over time would get many casting abilities and widen our options. Still, mostly doing the fighty thing in combat.

2) Soulknife. This would be doubling down on being the beatstick. Lesse flexible, but very strong on both offense and defense.

I think Psion would be better overall.

I like what you worked out. Holy symbol and everything (Although Keith really did a good job with the Undying Court in the beginning.)

I'd like to see her background.

In about a week. I'm running the same campaign for Eberron enthusiasts from the Eberron discord channel, so I'll be able to get a lot of feedback.

Heh. My girlfriend flew to visit her parents for a few days and I thought I would have several hours to finish Lia here up... then I noticed a crack in a wall. There went my several hours.

However, I will refine and polish the background over the next few days!

So, this doesn't end up with a Tardis eternally burning at the center of a pocket dimension?

If we are doing gestalt, this should probably be finalized soon. I vote for it.

While amazing, hopefully this campaign won't end quite that way. :)

Although Lia, the time hopping Elf, would make for an interesting Doctor fur sure..

Actually, the adventure is written for 4 characters. So it's okay just to have 3.

Three gestalt instead of four standard works. I'll finalize the new build tomorrow.

Version 1.5 of Lia's background:

text!:

An elf from a smaller family name, Lia Meliamine was born in the outskirts of Shae Cairdal. Her early life was typical, learning, growing, maturing. She trained with all of the other elves in weaponry and armor, She showed a knack for certain skills and joined the Church of the Undying officially as a novice. She worked in several temples assisting other worshipers and clerics. She was sent on a short journey to Pylas Talaear and met other races for the first time. She found she was much more curious with these mostly humans and could more easily parley with them than most of her kin. She returned to the capital and then was requested to return to Pylas Talaear to work there. She agreed and met at least one of all the races from the main continent. While some of the clergy thought her strange for so easily dealing with the other races, she found them very interesting, if not a little limited in overall scope.. she WAS still an elf.
She worked there for another 15 years until a very unexpected summons came. A messenger bearing the livery of the Sibling Kings. The message itself was unexpected to say the least. A diplomatic team was being sent to Khorvaire. She was to be a part of it.Lia assumed it was due to her ease with the humans and other races. She travelled home, Said farewell to her family and joined the team. It was an impressive team. Several important house names. Diplomats, warriors, priests and more. Four Undying Soldiers travelled with them. These four heroes were fitted with full heavy armor to appear as guards in public. The small deception made sense to Lia, as many humans seemed to find no difference between the Undying and the abominations of undeath otherwise existing in the world.
Once they reached the continent Lia assisted in various ways as needed and generally enjoyed her time. She even got partially used to the lack of proper infrastructure and public works the mostly human areas contained. After a short six months her superiors called her in. They were very content with her work but had an odd and important assignment for her. Go out into this human centric world. Meet all the other races, get to know them, possibly adventure with them. Return in 20 years to report her findings. They told her that Aerenal needed a fresh view on the other races and what happens day to day in Khorvaire.
Lia was genuinely shocked. She did not know of such a thing done by Aerenal elves before. Of course she agreed. She was given some supplies and headed out into the unknown…

Unknown to Lia, several Undying Councilors had visions of death and destruction. They saw that a young elf Ould b the key to stopping this possible catastrophe. That elf is Lia. She has no clue of the truth. The visions were strong but unclear. It is not known if she will play some important part in warning the elves, facing the threat directly, or die trying.

Are we doing Gestalt? Let me know, will have to go dig up those rules. :)

Are you going gestalt? If so, I can back out. Since the game is only designed for 4. I can also back out if Barrier returns to play.

If EltonJ let's me in,I'm thinking about a Halford monk, sorcerer or rogue on the run from some trouble back home in the west
. He's traveled a long way on foot to get to Sharn, or whereever we're starting
. A simple, humble peasant with great potential.

Class selection could be finalized with DM and party input. Monk was initial idea, but m8ght not have enough outside skills. Sorcerer would fill the arcane slot. Rogue could fill some skill gaps.

I can let you in the game. A rogue can certainly fill some skill gaps, and the sorcerer can fill the arcanist slot. :)

Unfortunately, I think I might not have enough time for this game. So I'm going to withdraw so others can take my place.

Thanks for keeping me in mind.

I'm still here and waiting for the beginning .)

I'm still here.

Okay, here's what I see looking at the posts.

Philo Pharynx| Escher | Warforged Aegis | Bodyguard
‘Eκάτη | ??? | Human fighter | Detective
Joseph Martin 681 | Lia Meliamine | Elf Cleric | Exploring human culture

and

therealthom | Monk?/rogue?/sorcerer?

I'm focused on melee and thrown weapons. I'm the tank.
‘Eκάτη seems to be focused on ranged, but probably good at melee as well.
Lia has divine casting, medium armor and both ranged and melee options.

We seem to be lacking trapfinding and arcane magic. You could kill both stones with one bird by taking the Seeker Archetype

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

By the way, I may have misunderstood the list of sources in the initial post - it seemed to me that it was exhaustive.

If not, then I would like to use the Gansligner class with the Bolt Ace archetype. It has nothing to do with firearms (which is not on Eberron), instead Bolt Ace is a specialist in crossbows.

In short, it will be the same character (noir human detective from Sharn), but more successfully created (more skillpoints, more skill with a crossbow, more interesting options).

Guys, work has put the hammer down. I probably can't get myself together for at least a week.

If this outs me out of the running, I understand.

I can wait or go gestalt. Elton?

Just remember that Keith told Wizards no gunpowder, to keep the technology based on magic. That being said, there are a lot of crossbows from Ancient History that you could base your weapon on.

Well, we are waiting a week or so for therealthom, so I think you've got time to add to the this. Five shouldn't be too unreasonable.

We have:

‘Eκάτη | ??? | Human crossbowslinger | Detective
Joseph Martin 681 | Lia Meliamine | Elf Cleric | Exploring human culture

and

therealthom | Monk?/rogue?/sorcerer?
