The party reforms into mist and begins its reconnaissance of the volcano. After about 30 minutes, you meet back at the safe bluff to discuss your findings:

1. 600' up: You spotted a a mountain ledge where you saw several shaggy mountain goats grazing, with an entrance that led deeper into the volcano. You maintained a safe distance so as not to be spotted. Still, the odor of manure was quite prevalent in the air. You believe you spotted 2 fire giants inside the mountain, watching over the goats but you could not estimate the exact number. The entrance was 10' high and wide.

2. 1200' feet up: Although you only went as high as 1000' feet up, from a distance, you spotted two separate 15' high and wide entrances at the same level leading into the complex. However, you quickly moved away as one entrance contained 2 fire giant guards and the other contained one fire giant guard, proactively searching for dangers. The 2 entrances were separated by perhaps 80 feet, so they may lead into the same cavern or into 2 adjacent caverns. Thankfully, you were not spotted since it was daytime (around 10:30 am) and you may have blended in with the clouds.

So let me know when you decide how to proceed: main entrance, goat ridge entrance, or manned entrance? Or if you want to do more recon.

Grymm speaks, "I am very tempted to vote for the manned entrance 1200' up, if Edmond can teleport us there. We prepare with our fire protection spells and then hit them hard." Grymm is a confident fella. Let's see what this volcano has to offer, at full hps and fully buffed. My 2 cents.

Xenovia regards the mountain side. I dont mind that as an option. Transforming from wind to physical form takes too long unless we dismiss the spell which I would rather avoid. It also gives us time to set up a variety of magical protections. What say the rest of you?

She looks back up the mountain. We do need to be careful to stay away from those ledges. They would make an awfully tempting option for bullrushing people off the edge.

Stepping away from the edge of the bluff, he begins casting several different spells.

Xenovia also makes her preparations, casting a series of spells.

Prebuffs Galore:

Xenovia will cast the following:

Extended Communal Resist Fire for when the HP protection of the Protection from Energy runs out. Edmond, save your single target one for now. It will last 52 minutes each.

She Extends a Heroism on herself and spell shares it with Eclipse. She then casts a regular Heroism on everyone else. These all last 130 minutes. Yolanda, you can save your bless for now as they dont stack.

She then Extends an Ironskin amd Shield of Faith on herself and spell shares it with Eclipse. Each lasts 13 minutes.

She also Extends and spell shares an Air Walk, just in case.

Just before we teleport she casts a Divine Favour on herself and Eclipse, each lasts a minute.

As a reminder, we are all benefitting from Hunter's Blessing which provides sacred attack and damage bonuses against giants as well as an initiative boost when underground.

That costs me the following total spell slots, including the Hunter's Blessing:

2nd: 1

Let's get to smacking (and being smacked by) the giants!!

And off we go! Normally with Teleport spell, Edmond would be able to only bring 4 medium creatures along and Eclipse is large (and counts as 2 medium), but I'll let it slide for this trip. The gods intervened and the spell brought everyone along!

Edmond casts the magic as you all touch each other and one of you touches the wizard. The safe bluff disappears in an instant around you and you appear just inside the cave entrance that you previously saw, except now you are behind the two fire giants on guard. There is immense amount of heat emanating from the south, but you are safe thanks to your protective magics.

The 14' tall giants, upon seeing you appear, say "What the f...?" They have skin that looks like cooling lava and their orange and red hair flows like flickering fire. They are wearing half-plate armor and wield beautifully crafted (masterwork) greatswords.

Now that you are up close, within 5-10' of them, you can tell that there is something different about these fire giants (one male and one female). First, they have small horns protruding from their foreheads, red lizard-like eyes, and even Eclipse feels uncomfortable being around them as they are unnatural.

Edmond and Xenovia:
You both immediately recognize that these giants have been exposed to some evil source from Plane of Hell or the Abyss, as they are now fiendish. In game terms, they have Darkvision 60', spell resistance, and can smite good creatures.

You see an immense cavern behind the the two giants, with 2 10-15' tall mounds of gold coins and other treasures some 70' behind them. 3 passageways exit this room that you can see: SW, S, and E.

Everyone except Xenovia has a surprise round. Move or Standard actions only. You can take a 5' step for free. Then we will move into Initiative.

Maps and Images will be placed in the Campaign Tab. Combat Map is there. Please help me as much with your buffs. Copy and paste them into the posts or keep them somewhere I can access them quickly. High level play is complicated. Thanks. Please read my posts completely so you do not miss anything. I will try to bold the important stuff.

He takes a step back, behind Xeonvia and reaches out to touch her Wolf, Eclipse, giving it his Diviner's Fortune, "Give 'em hell, pup"

Eclipse has a +6 insight bonus to Attack, Saving Throws, Skill and Ability checks for 1 round.

Playing it safe for now, still wanting to feel out the relative strength of these giants before breaking out the spells.

Warpriests treat their level as their BaB for bonus combat feats.

Xenovia is right about IVS. However, I do have some questions/comments about Yolanda's character sheet:
1. You do not need Exotic WP feat - since dwarves treat dwarven weapons (dorn dergar) as a martial weapon and warpriests have proficiency with martial weapons.
2. Who is Davit, Mistress of Battle? I cannot find her in any Pathfinder book or site. Did you make her up?
3. What are the stats of the fist of davit? From what I can tell: +1 frost and holy dorn dergar I believe. Please confirm.
4. With +9 base attack and +3 Str + 1 weapon + 1 weapon focus, I get +14/+9 hit (with +1 trait bonus vs. giants). Why does your character sheet state +16/+16/+11?
5. Also, you're not including your mithral full plate of speed into your armor. Your current AC should be 29, not 26. And with Zenovia's shield of faith, it should be 33/37 vs. giants.

Round 1: X

Awoken by the screams of pain from the giants, you notice the mounds of gold start to move and into the air leap, in all their young glory, three (3) red dragons, each wearing a crown of cruel horns. Thick scales the color of molten rock cover its 10' long body. Edmond's knowledge of arcana reveals that given their size, these dragons are young, perhaps only in their 3rd age category (wyrmling, very young, and young). You can tell the dragons are young also because no wave of frightful presence overwhelms you when you look at them.

The three dragons look in disgust at the party as they roar, announcing their presence to the world!

Edmond weaves his new Staff of Frost, the diamond glinting in the sunlight as we casts a spell from it, pointing it at the red dragons, and a massive blast of ice and cold spew forth in a 60 foot cone hitting the far two right dragons with an icy blast.

Edmond then moves toward the dead fire giant, hugging the wall to put some more range between him and the dragons.

I probably also provoke from the nearest dragon. Eclipse will air walk upwards 5' to avoid any sort of difficult terrain. She has 50' speed so should be OK to get there. Grymm is up to start Round 2.

Seeing the new threat of dragons, Grymm smirks. "The baby reds come out to play? I'll be right with ya, after killing this one! Ya shouldn't have attacked me, hon. That was your death sentence."

If the female giant dies and it takes more than 1 blow, Grymm moves 5' SW toward the unwounded dragon, his wings flapping.

Grymm's first blow lands, but it's the second blow that kills the female fire giant.

Round 2: Dragons!

The blue and green leaf dragons breathe cones of fire on Grymm, Yolanda, and Edmond and then strategically move up.

Fire damage: 6d10 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 1, 6, 4) = 23 DC 19 Reflex save for 1/2
Fire damage: 6d10 ⇒ (8, 6, 1, 10, 10, 5) = 40 DC 19 Reflex save for 1/2
To speed things up and hope you don't mind, will roll your Reflex saves:
Edmond: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 = 30 --- 12 points off protection
Edmond: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 2 = 12 --- 40 points off protection
Grymm: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 2 = 26 --- 12 points off protection
Grymm: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 16 + 2 = 32 --- 20 points off protection
Yolanda: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 = 18 --- 23 points off
Yolanda: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 = 19 --- 20 points off.

The gold frame dragon breathes fire on Xenovia and Eclipse, with the flames not harming the prone giant!

Damage: 6d10 ⇒ (1, 9, 1, 2, 1, 3) = 17 DC 19 Reflex save
Eclipse: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 = 18 --- 17 damage off protection
Xenovia: 1d20 + 18 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 18 + 2 = 24 --- 8 damage off protection.

However, before the party can celebrate the lack of damage the 3 dragon inflicted on the party, 2 more young red dragons fly in through the cave entrance and park themselves at the entrance!

The silver-framed red dragon, togue slithering, takes a bite out of Edmond, who is right next to him!
Bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21 --- hit
Damage: 6d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 6, 3, 1) + 10 = 32

The infinity frame dragon tries taking a bite out of Yolanda, but misses!
Bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24 --- miss

Edmond took 32 damage and rest of party took fire protection off. Edmond is up. Also, Eclipse and Xenovia get AoOs as the prone giant tries to get up with +4 bonus to hit.

Edmond, growls angirly at getting nipped in the butt by an unruly young red dragon, though realizing the dangers of the two of them so close will engulf the two dragons in his most powerful cone of cold, hoping to finish them off before the group is overwhelmed.

cast defensively DC 29: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (3) + 26 = 29 okay cutting it a little close

Cone of Cold Empowered: 13d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 6, 3, 5, 5, 5, 2, 3, 5, 1, 3) = 51

The two new comer dragons need to make reflex saves DC 24 or take 76 points of cold damage, likely a little more as we know they are vulnerable to cold

Harrumphing, he then clicks his heels together, activating his Jaunt Boots and teleports behind Yolanda, damn near back where he started.

Didn't want to have to use my empowered cone of cold already, but 5 young dragons I feel like can really risk us getting overwhelmed, especially being a bit seperated. Hopefully this doesnt turn out to be a mistake.

The bloodied giant looks over at the dragons. "Kill them all in the name of Tytarian and the Storm Tyrant, whose will dominates all of you." Gambling that Xenovia and Eclipse do not have Combat Reflexes...the giant moves away 30' behind one of the dragons.

Xenovia, Eclipse, and Yolanda are up to finish Round 2.
