GM Valen wrote:

Lady Riverbane, having viewed the skirmish from a safer vantage point emerges onto the deck. Spotting one of the thugs still breathing, she produces a wand of magic missile and finishes off the dying river thug.

"Given yer party’s reputation, I saw no need to intervene as I knew that finishing off these bandits would’ve been easily within the means of ye Pathfinders!" she declares matter-of-factly.

"Aye captain," Lilac says again, approaching one of the dead thugs. "No need. The waves will do for them now." She sees a cork poking out of the thug's pack, and pulls out a wine bottle. She walks to the side of the ship, uncorks it, and pours a small part of the wine out into the sea.

I definitely think we would loot the bodies.

"What a poor captain I'd be if I didn' already know how to be navigatin' this here river!" Lady Riverbane declares as she looks at the paper. "Besides, the information on these scraps'll probably only be valid for a more few months or so. Do what ye want with 'em, I say."

"Who knows, perhaps ye can con some distant Taldan noble into payin' a small fortune for 'em," she guesses mostly in jest. "As for me an' me crew, it'd take a true treasure t'be worth investin' our time."

Korgaar the Keen wrote:

Korgaar takes one of the bows and a quiver with a dozen arrows.

"Now ye be thinkin' like one o'the riverfolk, dwarf! And help yerself to the spoils!" Lady Riverbane replies with a knowing smile. She is clearly pleased by what she hears and sees. "Keep this up and ye just may find yerself a right drinkin', sword swingin' member of me crew! Yer present company may think ye a Pathfinder, but I believe I be seein' the likes of a riverrat swimmin' in yer chest."

The next morning, low gray clouds smear the sky, and by midday tall trees leaning over the riverbank further obstruct the pale sun. A gloomy mood falls on the pirate crew as the ship enters Echo Wood. A mere hour before dusk, the sailors’ misgivings crystallize when the expedition comes across an unnerving sight.

The wind seems to come to a dead still as the Scrag Fisher approaches the wreckage of a hulking river barge.

“It’s the Hanspur’s Luck, Milady—or what’s left of it,” grumbles one of the pirates. Like a large bee stuck in a spider’s web, the partially sunken boat bulges out of a mesh of sticky tangles, its deck slightly sloping abaft.

Slowly turning the wheel, Lady Riverbane orders her ship toward the ensnarled derelict, and a minute later the Scrag Fisher’s moorings are secured to the Hanspur’s Luck. The captain turns around and says, “Here we are mates. That looks like a good place to start your investigation, wouldn’t you say?”

The barge is trapped in giant webs. The top deck of this bulky vessel holds nothing of interest. It is clear that you will have cut your way through thick webbing to reach the hatchway and staircase leading inside the ship.

Korgaar blushes at the comely captain's praise. She might be a scrawny human, but I'd not be too displeased to sail with her. A successful pirate ship would need a wizard, that's for sure. Before he gets too caught up in fancies, there's more work to be done...

She hops a little back up the stairs.

BOTTING Dreki - No post in 24+ hours (and likely traveling)

Dreki winces in pain from the poison and considers his actions.
Delay (especially as I don't think it will impact the battle)

Merida remains thoroughly webbed.

The massive spider (yellow)again tries to make a meal of the dwarf.
Spider(yellow), melee (bite) v Korgaar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage (P) plus poison: 1d6 ⇒ 4

At last, the fangs find flesh, piercing it, and injecting poison into the dwarf.
Korgaar may attempt Fort save v. poison.

Ashtoret misses.

The bug is, indeed, finished. The dwarf approaches the remaining spider.

This gives the massive monster two targets from which to choose.
1) Korgaar, 2) Nightkit: 1d2 ⇒ 1

But, it does no more than break a fang on the dwarf's armor.

COMBAT OVER

With the monstrous menace mitigated, the party is free to search the hold.

Perception (DC 15):
You find three potions labeled in Osiriani—in one of the many containers.

If you read Osiriani or succeed at a DC 12 Linguistics check, you may open the spoiler below:

Spoiler:
Each label on a potion reads, lesser restoration.

The fore cabin of the ship contains a desk and some papers, including the ship’s logbook. The document clearly indicates that the Hanspur’s Luck was ordered by Lady Riverbane to come to this location and await further instructions.

Among the papers found in the cabin are some documents written in orc.
If you read Orc or succeed at a DC 12 Linguistics check, you may open the spoiler below:

Spoiler:
The documents are ledgers with names of smugglers, contacts, and corrupted officials involved in the traffic of Andoren goods.

Nowhere on the ship is there any trace of the crew. There is, however, clear evidence that an alchemist was once on board. The majority of the supplies found on board are clearly of Andoren origin.

With a successful DC 12 Heal or Survival check, a PC can extract a venom sac from any of the dead spiders.
