Twila-5

Likely-carnivorous plants that are drawn to living organisms, and air that causes hallucinations. What about the water?
Medicine on the water: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Noting how far out the bodies are, Twila-5 begins to brainstorm how to get to them. "I have 50' of titanium cable, but no way to attach it to them. Does anyone else have any ideas?"
Schuka
|
The stellifera within watertank moves closer to Twilla-5 and sends telepathic message: - I can swim and may try to step out with cable. To attach it.
If we are not far, Schuka also tries to create Magic Hand outside the ship to counteract with something...
phaeton_nz

Unfortunately Shcuka gains no useful information about either.
Liftt

Liftt eyes up the water dubiously...
medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
More than than ever about environmental protections he eyes up the bodies.
"LEt us hope they don't animate on us.." he mutters. The CAAMC gives him a What on earth are you saying? What would dead bodies animate? He has been watching too many horror flicks look.
Even as he does so, eyes are drawn to the horrid mud they float in.

Twila-5

"The water is mildly toxic and unsafe to drink. And I have no grappler. Schuka, we'll hold this end of the cable if you swim out there to fetch them."
Liftt
|
"Ahh.. look, the mud has a distinct surface tension to it. With a bit of care you may be able to hop across it..."
+1 bonus to Acrobatics and Athletics checks made to climb atop or across exposed mud
He eyes up the water "But I really wouldn't drink that. It'll make you sicker than a Yeti the morning after the night before." he agrees with Twila-5.

I can't contribute much in terms of helping hold on to the rope, but I can keep watch and look for dangers.
Perception check looking for danger: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
phaeton_nz
|
Yes. Two athletics checks. One to swim out to them and the second to drag them back to shallow water.
Twila-5
|
How do you want to handle the fact that we're pulling Schuka back with the cable? Aid rolls for the pullers?
phaeton_nz
|
Aid rolls will do ... yes
Schuka

Schuka inside her Hydrobody fearlessly dives with a good swim speed...
Athletics, no aid calculated: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Another Athletics check

It is a bit of a struggle for Schuka to get out there, but, with Twila-5's help, she is able to get back with the bodies.
Inspecting the bodies uncovers the insignia of the Devil’s Talon on their combat gear (which matches the insignia on the hull of the Malice).
Medicine checks please
Twila-5
|
Noting the insignia of the ship they recently fought, Twila-5 comments: "Interesting. Did the Malice abandon these people before or after they died?"
Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Twila-5 determines that the Devil’s Talons bled out from large circular bite marks and were partially eaten.
((Anyone else rolling?))
Twila-5
|
"Interesting." Twila-5 points out what she notices on the corpses. "The fact that they were in the water indicates that the creatures or creatures that did this are likely aquatic." Her eyes shift to Schuka, feeling guilty for sending them so far out into the water without backup.

As you start to leave the area, make perception checks.
Velorum Knight Errant

Velorum looks around as the group starts to move on.

Anyone who rolled over a 17 notice a distant rippling from the deep water. A moment later, the ripples begin to move, clearly approaching you. The ripples increase in speed as they approach and seem to belong to something Large moving beneath the surface of the water.
You also see three black glass orbs floating on the water near the corpses.
Velorum Knight Errant
|
Trouble incoming! And it looks like we missed some Black glass orbs in the water earlier.
Since we brought the corpses back, does that mean the orbs are close? Can I lift one or more out of the water with Token Spell?
Twila-5
|
Twila-5 quickly steps beyond the reach of the water and pulls out both her static arc pistol and her azimuth laser pistol, aiming them both at the large incoming disturbance in the water. Are those glass balls or eyes?!

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
The ripples suddenly stop 10 feet away, as if a creature submerged deeper. The ripples do not return, and no creature appears.
The glass spheres are easily obtainable. ((Will saves for those who pick them up physically))
The mercenaries have the following gear: a suit of thinplate, a runner spark knife, 10 silver carbonedge shuriken, a silver tactical handaxe, a static arc pistol, a thunderstrike pulse gauntlet, three tactical semi-auto pistols loaded with silver bullets, 40 rounds of small arms silver bullets, enforcer armor I, a mercenary NIL grenade launcher loaded with six screamer grenades, a sheet lightning pistol, a silver carbonsteel curveblade, a sonorous resonant staff, and a thunderstrike sonic pistol.
Velorum Knight Errant
|
Velorum will Detect Magic on the glass spheres. He will also pull one up with Token spell and examine it to try and determine what it is.
These guys were carrying lots of Silver stuff. I wonder if they know something we don't? Mind if I take one of those tactical Semi-auto pistols and a reload of Silver ammunition? Perhaps the sheet lightning pistol as well?
Mysticism to Identify the sphere: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

There is some magic on the sphere but you're not sure what it is, other than that it is very old. From what you can tell, these are art objects.
Velorum Knight Errant
|
What the heck, the worst outcome is I lose a character, right?
Velorum will take one of the spheres in his hand
Will save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
How bad is it?
phaeton_nz

Velorum has the distinct feeling of a hand resting on their shoulder. He also hears faint whispers in his ear, uttered in an unknown tongue. These effects continue as long as he is holding the orb.

Altronus waits another minute to see if the monster will come out, but when that doesn't happen, he dissolves his blade literally in the air. Joining the study of the bodies, he takes a silver blade in his hand and makes several swings. Well balanced. I'll take.
Silver carbonsteel curveblade - I took it
Schuka
|
Schuka is really impressed in all the stuff she were ably to carry back to the ship - bodies and guns and spheres.
First, hse finds couple guns and so you find out that one more tactical semi-auto pistols with some lisver bullets mission as well as Thunderstrike sonic pistol.
But then Schuka is reaching for spheres being really excites, she makes a sphere fly into the watertank with Psychokinetic Hand and just there touch it, inside water.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Twila-5

Twila-5 already has a static arc pistol, and it looks like that's the only pistol left. Can someone please trade with me? I won't be picky. Thanks!

Schuka experiences the same sensations as Velorum.

"Let's pack these up and get moving. I want to see if there's an end to this bug swarm." Twila-5's helmet is covered with bug smears where she swatted them. Some of them are affecting her vision. She regrets that now.

Not long after leaving the lake behind, you discover signs of civilization, with a few toppled pillars and slick stairs rising up out of the bog.
Examining the architecture discover it is made of worked stone.
