GM Aerondor |
This is a CORE game. Please double check your character is CORE.
If you are currently in a game or expect to apply a GM chronicle before play, hold off putting in the information.
To make my life easier when it comes to filling in chronicles, if you could each put in a single post with:
Chronicle: What chronicle number this is for the character
History: What scenarios has the character completed? (or been credited with); any other chronicles (special boons etc)
Name:(the player) real name (as you have it appear on your chronicle sheets)
AKA: Character name
Faction: Your faction
PFS: # for the character
XP: starting XP, Note if Slow track!
Prestige: Starting prestige
Fame: Starting Fame
Gold: Starting wealth you bring into the adventure. This should be the total on your previous chronicle. If you want to buy any new stuff... see further on.
Day job: include the roll or that you don't have one. If you want to use a reroll at the end just note here you may want to use a reroll. If you don't include a roll I'll be assuming you take ten. Add the actual gold amount if you want to save me looking it up...
Spend: If you want to buy anything before the scenario starts (apart from your initial 150gp if you are a new character) include it here. This will appear in the "items bought" and/or "items sold" part of the chronicle.
Try to hold off actual discussion here until we have one post per character with those details (makes life easy for me to make the chronicles for you all at the end).
Please add an Icon for your character to the map. If you don't know how, let me know and I'll help. Also dot into the gameplay thread, or just hang around and RP there if you like.

Hey guys! Let’s go for round two!
I’ll get my details up tomorrow. I’ve been at the track all day and didn’t want to not get a post up indicating my interest!
GM Aerondor |
That is four, I'll give the other two a couple of days. I suspect Hadkana might not as they seemed pretty busy but Shen might. And if not, I'll try to get another couple from Flaxseed.
Shen Hawaah |
Hi GM, I think it is better to not join this one after all.
Thanks for the invite though!!
HAVE FUN EVERYONE!

Currently we only have four of your and there is no four player adjustment. Anyone know anyone you could reach out to who might be interested?
Deluge-Core |
I could bring Deluge, though he is not a very powerful character. Druid spells are mostly utilitarian or situational and he does not have an animal companion. But he is level 7 - and expendable.
Ny'a |
I think Ny'a might be able to hold her own in this. She's only a paladin 5, but being a paladin protects her from a lot, and she has some boons to help with recovery should she fall. I'll just need to do a quick double-check that she's up to date, as she's gotten a couple of GM chronicles recently that I need to make sure are all applied to her correctly.

Nothing is required but balance is always helpful. I think going with a full group of 6 is a good idea and another level 7 can't hurt your survival chances.
Belladonna of Desna |
Hang on, Deluge. You might want to switch to some better spells. This is an underground, worked stone dungeon. I would suggest replacing entangle with something else. Faerie Fire comes to mind if it's the same level.
These dungeons can be very deadly if you're not well prepared and/or think things through with the other players. Stock up on healing and any bad condition removal items. A way to fly is good, too. I'll think of some others and maybe the other players will chime in with suggestions.

I had already thought of replacing entangle with another goodberry and was just going to gameplay to post the casting when I saw that :)
Faerie fire is a good idea so I'll swap that in too.
Speaking of goodberries, use them to top off healing. If you have one or two points left, he will provide berries rather than have someone waste a more potent spell or relatively expensive resource.

Just updated her for her latest chronicle, which is currently showing as nonCORE in the reporting, so Ny'a is flagged as nonCORE currently. She very much is CORE, and I've reported the problem with documentation.
Deluge-Core |
Deluge bought a wand of summon animal 1 for flanking and trap springing, an extra wand of CLW, and a few utilitarian scrolls.
Any other suggestions?
Ny'a |
Okay, prep time. I've read through Bella's link about preparing for this game, and noticed some things I should probably address.
Ranged attacks: Ny'a has none; she's a mounted paladin and has never pursued ranged attacks, but it seems smart to have something as backup. Any advice? Just a bow and some arrows? Cold-iron arrows along with some weapon blanches? (Are weapon blanches CORE?)
Area effects: Ny'a doesn't currently have any splash weapons, so I'll pick some of those up.
Healing: Ny'a has wands of clw and lesser restoration, along with her lay on hands ability. She's down to 18 charges on the cure wand, should she re-up now?
Tactically, Ny'a rushes into combat on her mount, using her lance where possible (for massive damage) but relying mostly on her longsword when charging doesn't work. She's well defended as a paladin, and has invested in magical defense for her mount as well.
What am I missing?
Tere di Montefeltro |
Weapon blanches aren't Core, alas. Some cold iron javelins would be good, if you don't want to spend a lot. Definitely get a new cure wand.

Check your past chronicles for non-core items or partially charged wands.
N'ya, looks like you should have lots of non-core goodies on those chronicle sheets of yours. Antiplague and antitoxin to name a couple. There should be weapon blanch on a couple of those sheets as well. And maybe even a Haunt Siphon on one.
Ny'a |
She actually doesn't have much like that on her chronicles. Here's what I've got for purchases here.
Chronicle items:
wand of cure moderate wounds (CL 5th; 9 charges; 810 gp) 10-7 Mysteries Under Moonlight Part 2
Other Purchases:
wand of cure light wounds (2pp)
alchemist's fire x3 (60 gp)
acid x3 (30 gp)
holy water x3 (75 gp)
cold iron javelin x3 (18 gp)
Ny'a |
For the record, I think using summons to spring traps is a great idea! Especially in Bonekeep :)
There's a reason I found a way for my paladin to explicitly be okay with the practice....
Ny'a |
GM Aerondor, can you share anything about how time is being kept for this game? I know that in person, there's a hard 5 hour time limit. What is the equivalent for PbP gameplay?
Thanks!

If it's anything like Part 1, we can access n more than five rooms.
Belladonna of Desna |
As of 4/8/22, the Bonekeep specials may be run as part of Play-by-post events, subject to the same rules as any other convention. To account for the play-by-post nature of the event, GMs should only run their players through up to half of the encounters, either chosen by the GM at the start or decided based on their players’ actions. Players and GMs can only earn up to half of the maximum gold on the chronicle sheet.
GM Aerondor |
Yes. We are limited to five rooms.
Unfortunately with level 2, there is not really a lot of flexibility in what those five rooms are :-(
Ny'a |
So that means there's no time crunch? Not that I'm intending to drag things out, but it's good to know that it doesn't necessarily end on a specific day.
GM Aerondor |
No, no time crunch for PBP, max treasure has the room limit, which puts it more in line with a standard scenario.

GM Aerondor wrote:I don't understand this; Ny'a made her Will save vs the confusion effect.N'ya looks around, confused. She strikes herself in the head to try and recover her wits.
[dice=confusion]1d100
[dice=damage]1d8+2
To clarify:
The only way I see Ny'a failing the confusion save is if the penalty from the "mind fog" effect retroactively applies to the confusion save.
1) If that were the case, they should have been requested in that order
2) If the saves are simultaneous, the one shouldn't affect the other
3) If the "mind fog" save did actually take effect first, the rolls should be reversed; if the same dice rolls are applied to the saves in reverse order, she still fails the "mind fog" save, but would make the confusion save with her 2nd roll, even with the -1 penalty from "mind fog"
Tere di Montefeltro |
GM A, because Tere is an elf he gets +2 to saves vs. enchantment spells and effects. Mind fog is an enchantment spell; does Tere get his bonus against the effect here? If so, he saves (rolled a 10, gets +5 normally, +2 from being an elf gives a 17 when he needed a 16).
GM Aerondor |
This is not an enchantment as such. This is an effect from the water. It does have a similar effect to the mind fog spell.
There are lots of enchantment effects that in the scenario that the scenario specifically calls out as enchantments, but this effect they didn't.
For various reasons if I had to ascribe a type of magic to it, it would likely be a curse, which would make it necromancy. But this is not a spell as such.
GM Aerondor |
The water you are standing in is only foot or so deep. You have no idea how deep the pools the elementals are currently in is.
Belladonna of Desna |
We have a few Confused party members, correct? Bella is considering tossing up calm emotions, which negates confusion. Or, should she wait to cast it?
Pau |
Might be worth casting it now. If we have more of our crew turn on us, it could get really bad. But, hell, it could be useful down the hall too, maybe.
So do what you think is best!
Ny'a |

The confusion effect only lasts one round. Calm emotions would prevent new instances from starting during its duration.
Tere di Montefeltro |
The limited duration on the confusion effect also gets around one of the features of the spell--regardless of the effect of the spell in any given round, a confused individual will attack anything that attacks them. So since the effect expires just before the elementals attack again and only takes effect on someone they hit (I think*), a PC isn't confused when they're attacked.
*Is everyone in combat with the elementals subject to the confusion effect, or only people who have been hit?
GM Aerondor |
The confusion seems to be a result of being struck by the elementals.
The mind fog, which affects you all so far, makes it more likely to be effective.
The text for calm emotions is a little vague - But I read it as stopping any new confusion effects starting while it was active.
Belladonna of Desna |
"It also suppresses any fear effects and removes the confused condition from all targets. While the spell lasts, a suppressed spell, condition, or effect has no effect."
Not only does it instantly remove confusion as noted above, as long as she concentrates on the spell each round, nobody could get confused.
Tere di Montefeltro |
The confusion seems to be a result of being struck by the elementals.
Since the elemental narrowly missed Tere this round, then, does he still have to make a save vs. confusion?
GM Aerondor |
No, confusion is only for one round, unless you were hit again. Confusion effect comes after the hit, so it doesn't count as you attacking them - otherwise the effect would be pretty pointless.
However with Bella calm emotions there is no need for a save against the confusion.
