DM Dickie |

I think now is a good time to call for a Perception check from everyone.
Natper w/sleep: 1d20 + 12 - 10 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 10 = 14

Krystal Popescu |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Crap.
Krystal put a finger to her lips to try and get the others to be quiet. She then pointed towards the barricaded platform and motioned Ragnar to get in front of her and check out the room.

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Ragnar perception: 20 - 1 = 19
Ragnar does, surprsingly enough wear it, and does as he is told. Having his Bardiche out.
init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Anansi the Spider |

Cuddled tight and snug inside the guardshack, Anansi the Spider's eyes dart toward the outside...
Perception DC 16 +1 per 10': 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 (+2 Dimdweller)
The halfling decides it's his tummy....
Stealth (Dex): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 1 = 17 (+2 dimdweller)

DM Dickie |

Ragnar enters the area the sound came from a few seconds ahead of Anansi the Spider. Both scan the dark room but see nothing obvious moving at first.
Cyinit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
AtSin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Then the shaman catches movement out of the corner of his eye. Across the pit, near the barricade is a long, slithering creature with black scales. Despite looking like a snake, the creature has a face! A goblins face...It wraps its body around the rickety ladder and slowly moves upward.
Surprise Round
Anansi is up in the surprise round for a single standard action!

Anansi the Spider |

Anansi the Spider taps Ragnar on the arm.
There's a snake goblin by the barricades. The Ancestors want you to take care of it.

DM Dickie |

Round One
The scuzzy snake-thing, realizing it's been spotted, slithers as fast as it can up the ladder.
Cycl: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
It disappears from sight as it moves up into the rafters.
Will update map ASAP, but not current as of post, probably 15 mins.
No one else in the building seems to be aware yet, but if Caroliss and Ambriel wish to try the original Perception check (DC 16) they can begin Round One in the plank room. Krystal, feel free to place yourself where it seems appropriate, given where Ragnar and AtS are, I'd assume just on the other side of the door.
No, by the way, it didn't enter from the front and was nowhere near the ad hoc trap, sorry, burrowers!
Everyone is up!

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Lady Natalya, some type of Goblin Snake approaces your position without permission, engaging. Ragnars voice booms pretty loudly, as he tries to use the reach of his Bardiche to land a hit on the creature from below.
He is a big guy with a reach weapon, probably doable but the gobsnake may have a fair bit of cover
Yield or Die
attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23 +2 from ancestor council
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Assuming Natalya is asleep, she could possibly be CDGed, so Ragnar does not really negotiate or intimidate. Ragnars Init was 9 from his last init an AoO rolls
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Anansi the Spider |

Anansi the Spider ponders the question from the Ancestors.
Do we defend her, allow the goblin-snake to do its thing, or have a snack? The Ancestors think that we could just pick her up (not me but Ragnar) and complete our mission.
The shaman then shakes his head.
What if the shard is the objective?
Delaying as he speaks with the Ancestors.

Caroliss Kaddren |

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22.
Caroliss does notice the weird snake goblin, and hurries to get closer!
I just double moved along the edge to get to my current position, not sure if there was a faster way but I'm not a front-liner anyway.

Krystal Popescu |

Well... it wasn't anything she was expecting. Krystal nearly recoils in disgust at the sight.
"...I don't even wanna know how." The rogue is more intent on shooting down that thing... provided she can get a shot on it.
Can I get a shot or do I need an Acrobatics check to reach where it's going?

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal hurries up the rafter to follow the slithering goblin.
Acrobatic: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

DM Dickie |

Sorry, I've been a little off this week and wife had dental surgery so I'm a little distracted.
The goblin snake is struck by Ragnar as the others close in. It makes a panicked sound and tries to drop down into the muck. Ragnar's steel flashes out as it falls past and as a result, the goblin snake makes two plopping sounds when it's body drops into the water in two distinct pieces.
"Is good?" asks the goblin honor guard, poking it's head through a hole in the ceiling. "Yeah. Is good. Back to snore, boss."

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Some Gobbo-Snek thing, was one, the big axe Ragnar points at his bardiche, now 2, both ded. Gobbo-Snekwomen be loners? Rangar answers the Goblin effortlessly switching to a Goblin accented Common.
Diplomacy to gather information: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
What the Blyad was that Ragnar asks his commoners in his more familar Common with some Abyssal loanwords.

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal shook her head in disgust. "Gods no. Not at this hour. I'm just glad it's dead now. With luck I won't get any nightmares."

DM Dickie |

"Yeah, uglier than longshanks!" The goblin recession to Ragnar with a laugh before he pulls his head back.
Sorry, been a crazy week, crazier than usual. So what's the play, let's get this show on the road. Try to sneak up like the dnake wanted to do and take Natalya in her sleep? Wait until the AM and find a spot to catch her in the open? Play along and head to the Crow in the morning?

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Ragnar focuses intensly on the situation
Ситуация: His thoughts come partly in Abyssal for some reason
The foe is split, with 4 adversaries beeing behind the pipes, and their leader as well as one guard being on the rafters, on account of my weight and my limited mobility He thinks
I can provide a deadly roadblock to approaching Goblins looking to reinforce their leader.
As such, I should take the posion I have right now, reading attacks against approaching Goblins, while my allies take out the main target.
Terisha is a wild card, I intend to use deadly force against Goblins, keeping human enemies alive if feasible. He concludes, before whispering his plan to Anansi, who is nearby.
Ragnar stops the Gob reinforcements, while all of you gang up on the boss and take her out? With Krystal trying to go for the stealth kill?

Caroliss Kaddren |

Once the plan is communicated to her, Caroliss chimes in. "Anansi has a point. I don't love the idea of sleeping here overnight. Hardly a place for a proper lady! Let's get this over with. Krystal can use her stealthiness to our advantage."

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal returned to the pit and wondered about what the bloodrager was thinking next. But it seems like her allies had other plans. Krystal shook her head in response.
Krystal's shook her head in response."I'd rather she comes to us. I'm the only one who can get up there with little trouble. That and I ain't getting magic'd by her like Terisha. I think I can bring her down and say we're being attacked and use your battle as the signal."

DM Dickie |

If you get into position slowly and quietly, (arrange yourselves on the map as desired) you can execute this option easily. I'm going to go ahead and roll Initiatives now to get them out of the way, ball is in y'alls court since this is your planned situation! Create your ruse and ready your bluff checks when ready.
Ambriel Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Anansi Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Caroliss Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Krystal Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Ragnar Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Gobin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Natin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
I think I just blew all the good rolls for the week!
When combat begins it will be:
Natalya
Ambriel
Anansi
Goblins
Krystal
Caroliss
Ragnar

Krystal Popescu |

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Getting there was pretty simple enough. She made her way up to the rafters and got into the room. So once the noise started, she woke up Natalya with a start.
"My leader! We're under attack. We need you to help us repel the attack! Hurry!"

Ragnar av Gundrun |

bluff to assist Krystal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Into our motherland
Deskaris armies march
Heroes stand by side
to stop the Demons charge
Ragnar signs the last stand at Storasta, which every Sarkorian knows but only proper Skalds get any actual bonus from that.
Balors above our skies
Great fires in the east
Ten Thousand men at war
We die slaying these beasts
Being appropriately last-standy on an Irriseni-Sarkorian tier of fatalism to convey a great urgency.
SMESH 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
SMESH 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

SMESH 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Caroliss Kaddren |

Caroliss joins in on the ruse. "Yes, we can't do this without you, illustrious leader!"
Bluff (aid) DC10: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20. Giving Krystal a +4 bonus due to helpful trait.

DM Dickie |

The goblins emerge rather confused from their tunnel. "Hey! No sing! Snore!"
In the rafters, Natalya wakes with a start. She immediately grabs a wand ready to use it. "Where? How many?" She kicks her remaining bodyguard awake and uses the wand with a simple command word. She briefly shimmers with translucent armor, then leaps down.
Surprise Round!
Okay, map is current! Everyone has a surprise round action (standard action) since she has no idea she's being set up!

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Ragnar 5 foot steps in front of the halfing readies an action to smesh the first Gob in the face, in addition to any AoO (posted earlier) he does.
The previously posted AoOs would be affected by the ancestors blessing.
SMESH: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal continued the ruse. "I think they're down on the floor. Luckily Ragnar and the halfling's taking care of things." While Natalya was looking downwards, Krystal pulled out her rapier and drew first blood.
Rapier, Bit of Luck #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Rapier, Bit of Luck #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Crit confirm? #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 2d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + (4, 6) = 19
Given what she knew she was capable as a sorceror, she wasn't going to let the woman get the chance to charm her. And letting her put some sort of magic armor on her didn't help things, so knocking her out may have become just that harder. She closed her eyes... and drew the rapier right through her body. She did this in the hope that Caroliss could heal her ASAP before she bled out. Otherwise... she would have a lot to answer for if she got the woman killed. She can only hope it wouldn't come to that.
Yeesh. Please don't die on me. That would also be +2 for the crit strength modifier.

DM Dickie |

Krystal's blade penetrates clean through the woman's heart. Natalya turns and looks at Krystal with shock. "Betrayed? But...my...destiny!" She collapses to the ground, bleeding profusely.
Her honor guard sticks his head down and sighs. "Was good, oh well. You leave now, we not fight!"
Fun synchronicity: both parties knocked her out and dropped her to -1 with a crit! How weird! If you want to attack the goblins, feel free, but theyre hoping you just go.

Anansi the Spider |

Anansi the Spider attempts to see any bit of the fallen and dying Natalya.
Krystal! If you could just toss her down, please.
The shaman winks at Ragnar.
Cast Stabilize once can target. But after she hits the ground. Don't want her bleeding still from fall damage.

Caroliss Kaddren |

Caroliss winces as Krystal cleanly stabs the unprepared Natalya. "By Calistria's Sting, did you kill her?"
Nicely done! :P
She seems utterly indifferent to the goblins and leaves their fate to Ragnar the fierce.

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal at least made sure that Natalya is let down onto the ground gently after removing her sword. She checked for a pulse and shook her head. "Taking over the city isn't her destiny, but she'll live if we can heal her. I need some rope first."
If Caroliss did have some rope, she made sure to tie Natalya's hands and feet together. As for the goblins, she just shrugged. "Eh, that's the guards' problem, not ours. Just stay outta trouble, got it?"
She then motioned Caroliss to help her bring Natalya down so Anansi could stabilize her.

Caroliss Kaddren |

Caroliss heads on up and gives Krystal a big hug and a wet kiss. "Marvelously done, I knew you'd do it!" With Anansi unable to see Natalya to use his magics, Caroliss quickly gives the bleeding woman some basic first aid.
Heal to Stabilize, DC15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16.
"There, she'll be alright. Was a clean wound, deftly delivered."
Once that's settled, she pulls out some rope and hands it off. "You'll have to do the knots, Krissy--I don't really have the strength for it." Once settled, she works with Krystal to lower Natalya's unconscious form for further transport.

DM Dickie |

The group quickly works to make sure Natalya won't just bleed to death on the way back to the Lodge as the goblin watches apathetically. The others return to their pipe to return to sleep.
Uh, so...you going to just carry an unconscious woman back to the wealthier districts? When I get home from work I'll give a full list of the gear she has on her, but of particular interest are her wand, a scroll, a pair of soft soled, supple leather boots. Well. That and the strange chunk of metal around her neck.

Krystal Popescu |

Krystal moaned as she accepted the kiss, but didn't go any further... given that the front of her clothes had blood.
"Mm... maybe when later with a clean set of clothes," she replied."We also need to figure out how to get her back without looking suspicious."

Caroliss Kaddren |

"It's not that crazy if we have a stretcher, right? A sick person who needs medical care."
Caroliss sees if Ambriel might be able to figure out the properties of all the items they've found on Natalya.

Ambriel Kogalnica |

It has been a hectic and very confusing day, but Ambriel is feeling alright. They seem to have accomplished what was required of them, and she has made to through all of it unscathed, and with having to climb rotting wooden structures or wallow about in sewage. Not bad at all.
"So, we can pack up nad go back to where it doesn't reek now?"
Ambriel checks Natalya for items of interest, starting with a casting of Detect Magic.

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Ragnar catches her, rises a very polite eyebrow at Karoliss for one hitting her, and, after she is stabilized, says:
There is a way to carry a prisoner and make it look like it is a drinking body, you basically put their legs and arms around you, bind them, and have her as a backpack. I could explain to a possible guard that she is bound because she passed out, and its the best way to transport someone while keeping my hands free in a dangerous part of town. Would be bad if she were to wake up during that, but the bluff is plausible otherwise.
Mrs. Kogalnica, do you pick up anything magical on her?

Anansi the Spider |

Anansi the Spider smiles at the unconscious Natalya. The Shaman only takes the shard that is hanging around her neck.
Off to the Lodge!
The halfling seems a both pleased and, in a hurry, to get there.

Krystal Popescu |

Hm... seems like it could work," she nodded. "But carrying your job. Leave the bluffing to me."

DM Dickie |

In addition to the boots, wand, scroll, and shard, Natalya has a masterwork mithril short sword, a climbers kit, a second story harness, masterwork thieves tools, and 55 gold coins.
Ambriel's magically augmented Senses can tell that the boots, wand, and scroll all have magical auras. The shard of metal around Natalya's neck nearly blinds her for a moment. The aura is so strong and overwhelming.
The groups makes their way through the early evening streets of Magnimar back to the Pathfinder Lodge, passing off Natalaya's unconscious form as getting their drunk friend home when anyone stares too hard at them.
The guard let's everyone through and the dwarven major-domo leads them to the library to await Captain Heidmarch.
Lots of exposition coming to explain everything and whats coming up, so I'm breaking th walls of text up a little. Take your time to level up.

Ambriel Kogalnica |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ambriel relieves Natalya of the magical items aside from the one taken by Anansi. Until she can properly identify them, they are no less potentially dangerous than swords and daggers.
Spellcraft (Boots): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Spellcraft (Scroll): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Spellcraft (Wand): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
"Anasi, I should probably take a look at that. Let me examine it at the manor at least. It's unusual and we should know more about it for sure."

Ragnar av Gundrun |

Spellcraft boots: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Spellcraft scroll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Ragnar has seen a surprising variety of magical items on his travels, and opts to assist Ambriel with her efforts, if she had failed to identify one of them.
He does recall the boots, I think one of his former seargents had them as well, but the wand and scroll are beyond his expertize.
Yeap Bro, listen to the smart Lady

Krystal Popescu |

Krysta;'s eyes glistened when it was revealed what the boots were. "Man, I always wanted these boot!" she grinned.

Krystal Popescu |

Hehe Krystal, you properly stabbed for them yourself, who would deny your claim? Assuming Ragnar has them, he smiles widely and very approvingly as he hands them to Krystal.
"Don't mind if I do." She happily took the boots off Ragnar's hands.
