When she hears the sound of branches breaking and footsteps stamping, Mary stops. "Sounds like trouble to me. Watch out Mylos!" But it's too late. Mary looks around and spots the other boar. She points it out. "There's another one over there." The second boar, not having noticed her yet, makes for an easier foe. Mary quickly slips into the bushes after it, whipping out her weapons as she goes, and striking it twice once she reaches it.

Not sure if the brushy squares are difficult terrain, but even if they are, Mary can reach the Yellow boar with her 30ft movement.

Mary tries several times to out manoeuvre the boar, but with the taste of Mary's blood still in its mouth, its eyes never move off her. Despite that she still gets her rapier to pierce the hide and dig into the sow's flank.
A blow that would kill any normal animal, but somehow the wild pig still stands, its eyes bloodshot and full of frenzy.

Flory is on hand to magically sew Arity's wounds and stop the bleeding.

With the boar in a frenzy of pain, it bucks high in the air, just as Arity was in midair leaping. She crashes into the creature and both land plum on the ground next to one another. Arity is quick to react and stick s the animal with her short sword, slicing its artery. Yet the boar still survives, with its blood spilling from the deep wound to the throat.

Meanwhile Albrecht chases a better position to snipe at the younger boar with his crossbow. Finding an ideal shot, he uses a lightly leaved bush to disguise the flight of the bolt, leaving the little boar no time to get out of the way. The bolt lodges in the animals shoulder with a loud thud, as the buries itself in the boar's flesh. It doesn't fall, although it looks unsteady on its feet.

The large boar next to Mary and Arity, 1d2 ⇒ 2 , turns on Arity, the last of the foes to leave a deep wound on the beast and so it starts to gore the woman. Strike 1 1d20 ⇒ 7 but it's fury seems to be waning with it's strength. But the die is cast, it continues to turn on the Swashbuckler. The creature tasting her blood continues the assault. Strike 3 1d20 - 10 ⇒ (17) - 10 = 7 despite her wounds, Arity just manages to dance out of the way of the attack.

“And just in time for lunch. How thoughtful”, says Flory.

Then she looks over everyone. ”Oh, but not in such a state”, she adds. With a few words, and a sweeping motion of her hand, the blood and gore fall away.

Mary keeps an eye out for more wild animals while everyone's wounds are being treated. "Let's cut off some of this boar meat and take it with us to the fish camp. We should be able to cook it up there for lunch without further porcine interference."

Cause we all know there's nothing dangerous at the fish camp, right?

"No problem, Arity. You sword-wielders are normally more in need of it than I. It is an unusual feeling, like having life itself welling inside you? Thanks for your attention Mary. Roast boar seems reasonable." Mylos breathes in deeply, as if glad to be alive.

Just as Mary mentions carving the boar the wind shifts and everyone notices a delicious smell emanating from nearby. Albrecht has a campfire set up and has been cooking roast pig for some time. He smiles at everyone. "There's no need to wait. I've managed to cook up a bit of the smaller pig while everyone was being bandaged. We'll probably want to make a proper roasting pit once we get to the camp though so we can slow roast the sow. It's likely to be a little tough otherwise."

Several hours earlier...
As the combat ends Albrecht begins to unpack his medical supplies only to see that Mary has already begun to tend to everyone's wounds. She seems competent enough, if a bit slow. I don't want to insult her by offering to take over. Perhaps I'll just dress the animals and prepare lunch. It looks like she'll be at this for some time.

The investigator starts a fire, then skins and guts the piglet before spitting it and setting it to roast. A quick search of the woods provides some herbs and a few wild mushrooms to complement the meal. While the piglet finishes cooking he dresses the sow and prepares it for travel to the camp.

So it looks like Mary used treat wounds on herself 4 times. Without Continual Recovery that should take about 3 hours and 10 minutes. Plenty of time for Albrecht to prepare lunch.

Flory watches Albrecht at his work. ”So pretty”, she says. ”Like a sculpture you can eat”

She sighs at the smell of the roast pig. ”Mmmm”, she murmurs. ”We gladly feast on those who would subdue us”

"Yes, roast boar seems delicious. But let me take a quick look around to make sure nothing else lurks."

After she has been healed and refocused, Bonnie will search the immediate vicinity (100'-ish radius) while Mary finishes healing and Albrecht cooks.

"Bonnie, I notice you are a magician, what style of magic is that?"

"I don't know, really. I was never one for books. I learned it from my mother, Anne. She'd tell me to imagine I was somewhere else, and there I'd be. Came in real handy when we were boarding ships, we'd grapple and get close, then, as we threw down a gangplank to cross, I'd just imagine myself on their ship and flank 'em all. I can only do it once in a while, though, so I need to meditate after a big fight.

As for the frosty or flaming sword, we used to have a wizard on our crew, what was his name ... Frizzle? Something like that. Couldn't trim a sail or wield a sword, but he'd stand on the poop deck and shoot fire and frost. I can't do it as well as he could, but he showed me how to channel it through my sword."

After lunch Albrecht takes a careful look at the area around the fight.

"So I wonder what the pigs found here. Anything interesting?"

Didn't mean to step on any medical toes there. I was just trying to get the healing out of the way. I'm quite happy to leave all that to Albrecht in future.

Having satisfied herself that the group was in no immediate danger from any more of the local wildlife, Mary sits down to her roast boar lunch. "Mmmm. This is good. I'm already glad I brought you along on this jaunt, Albrecht."

When she's done, she stands and stretches. "We should try to get to the camp soon so that we've got plenty of daylight to look things over. Hopefully we won't run into any more of our forest friends along the way."

“Maybe they’ll welcome us, with jigs and songs”, says Flory, “or at least join us for dinner”

She helps to clean up afterward, the spider now perched on her forehead.

Mary lets out a short laugh at Flory's joke. "Ha ha. 'join us for dinner' indeed! Good one there." "For a seamstress, she's quite the cool customer under pressure, but perhaps a bit strange. The spider's definitely on the creepy side though."

"I find how people come about their skills quite interesting. So you were actually a pirate?" Mylos gives her a questioning look.

"Welllll ..." Bonnie smirks, while giving Mary a sideways glance.

"We weren't pirate pirates, I guess. We'd offer transports - mostly bat guano transports - protection from pirate pirates. I mean, if people wanted a fight, we weren't going to shy away, but we didn't start nothin'."

She shares a look with Mary and laughs.

"Okay, maybe once or twice we started something. But they deserved it."

Mary gives Bonnie a sideways glance at the exact same time as Bonnie glances at her. She smiles at Bonnie's explanation and then adds her own. "Piracy is one of those relative terms that depends greatly on your point of view. I suppose the actual pirates that tried to take our guano might feel that we were the pirates after we boarded their ship, took everything they had, and cast the survivors adrift, but we prefer to see ourselves as honest fertilizer shippers acting purely in self-defense." She smiles innocently at Mylos.

Mary gives Bonnie a hard look. She whispers something to her old captain from the side of her mouth.

Draconic:
"I'm trying to make us sound less piratey and more legit. They don't need to know what the guano was actually for."

Then with a forced laugh, she says. "Ha ha. Well what else would they need it for if not to fertilize something eh? I'm no alchemist and I never ask questions that I don't need to know the answers to."
