Sturm's Partner bond (I think that's the name) allows them to share the faster initiative between the two of them. In this case Sturm shares Seggas's initiative. It might be reversed at some point too, though.
Seggas gives the romance novel on the database a disparaging frown, but then tries to surruptitiously download it when noone is looking.

Seggas is correct. It's one of my racial abilities. I've bolded the pertinent part -
Partner Bond A dragonkin can form a permanent bond with one willing non-dragonkin creature. Once this bond is made, a dragonkin cannot form another partner bond unless its current partner dies. A dragonkin and its partner can communicate with each other as if they both had telepathy with a range of 100 feet. In combat, when a dragonkin is within 30 feet of its partner, both creatures roll initiative checks separately and treat the higher result as the result for both of them.

He follows Istilnar toward the engineering bay.
As you explore the corridors between the repair and engineering bays, you come across a pile of knocked-over crates littering
the floor, partially blocking your path. This may have been the crashing sound you heard earlier.
Most of the crates appear to be filled with electrical components for ship computer consoles.
The technology in the crate used an iridescent spindle
aeon stone for the stasis process. The stone is easy to remove.

Seggas's eyes go wide as she looks at the crate on the ground. "This crate was designed to hold a living creature in stasis, with out need for water, food and air as the iridescent spindle aeon stone here and that broken clear spindle aeon stone suggest. The process tends to leave a creature disorientated and famished, meaning it could be treatened or motivated enough to attack us. Also from the looks of the design of the crate, the animal inside needed little to no oxygen and can survive extreme tempuratures readily. That growling from earlier might actually be a live animal."

The engineering bay is a jumbled, chaotic network of small rooms and work areas. The power core and access to the engines are in this area.
As you enter the area, Avid Dreamer pipes up once again.

anything like that. It’s me that’s broken! When they’re next to
me I am in good repair, but whenever they aren’t I malfunction.

and can fix me! Why can’t you see that!? Why won’t you help!?
We just need to be together!”

Sturmvanger meets Seggas' gaze then looks around contemplatively at the gathered group. The circuit his eyes make end up back on her and he gives her a significant look that indicates what he thinks of the chances of anyone in this particular group have of explaining romance to a tween spaceship.

Anyone have Profession (YA novelist?)
As you all contemplate what to do in this area, once again Avid Dreamer makes their move. There is a flash of light and a grinding sound as machinery comes to life. Two semi-mobile fabrication units move slowly toward you, sucking up debris from around them and spitting it out of a tube toward you.
In addition to this, a strange beast comes out from its hiding spot, hissing and growling as it does.

Istilnar, moves toward the alien creature and then reaches out and manifests the negative energy of the shadow plane. He then focuses that energy into an assault on the creature's brain. mind thrust

Little shocked at Istilnar's ability to thrust the creature's mind, Liilywind raises her hand, "That is a hard spell to accomplish, Shadow. I have seen it many times and shall attempt in myself. With her hand raised, she focuses her mind on thrusting the creature's but the space around it starts to warp. It then stops and shrieks as tiny spots in its skin opens up as if thousands of invisible needles are pushed through it from the inside out. "OOOohhhh dddeeeaarr!!! That is not the thrust of minds!!!...oh dear..."

Seggas gives a sigh as the two spellcasters go for the creature that the group could probably coax into not attacking with some food and space.

The disadvantages of being an ordinary sized creature in a universe full of small beings. They never make anything properly sized. Sturmvanger finds his opponents in tight quarters that he doesn't want to squeeze himself into.
So, instead, he draws his reaction cannon and takes a shot at the red hued robot.

The strange alien cat, now known to be a nocoli, begins to bleed terribly. Scared and hungry, it charges toward the closest thing, which turns out to be Seggas.
Using its pounce ability, which allows to make a full attack on the charge.

Istilnar, turns his attention to the machinery to the north. He heads for cover behind some machinery while drawing a spell gem. He releases the mystical energy inside of it and an acidic mist appears around the fabrication unit.

I just realized, are the fabrication stations considered constructs? If they are, technically the rules say that acidic mist doesn't affect them because of the fortitude save.

We don't want to hurt you or your internal workings. We can get you help, AutoMaint 13 might be that, but I fear you need a proper AI psychologist. Preferably someone specialized in newly emerged AI. If you stop the unit, I promise we will put our own weapons down." She gives Istilnar a sharp look as if to say, 'if you even try to break these negotiations...'

Yes. As I feared the game Zint is in does have a good bit to go. My options not in game (or very soon to be) are a level 2 biohacker, which we already have one, or make a new or do a pre gen and just apply iy elsewhere.
Well, we have a soldier, 2 mystics. I'm thinking the biohacker. Thing we need another soldier type or a tech type? For better party comp a more tech type might be needed.

Started out my RPG career with Dungeons and Dragons like most everyone else. Didn't actually play the game or any other RPG for over 20 years until I heard about Starfinder, which got my attention since it wasn't a fantasy setting. I played the original Gamma World a few times and really enjoyed it, so Starfinder immediately got my attention. That's... Huh. Most of the games I've played on the boards here have used slides, heck, even a good number of the play-by-discord games use slides, I' ve had a few use Draw or a different, mobile friendly VTT, but only one use R20 before. Interesting.
We will get this underway tomorrow (Monday) evening. Look for my first post then.
Yeah, it's not easy for most but I have less issues...maybe more patience than most. But works really well for PbP maps. Then I learned of Win+Shift+S, which saved me a half of step.

Does the fact that we've been spoken to through speakers mean that there is some form of air on the ship or that the author forgot that sound needs a medium to travel through?

This is an often-forgotten detail in these Starfinder adventures, and probably in other sci-fi RPG's as well.
Perhaps our workaround will be that the usual life-sustaining oxygen rich atmosphere has been replaced by another inert, non-toxic gas that will carry sound (but isn't breathable).

Well...depending on how long/if carbon based life forms were here after the life support went off, there may be air that just has too high of a carbon dioxide content to support other carbon based life forms.

Given it had enough air to liberally send jets of it out at possible intruders, I doubt it doesn't have enough air sound conduction. I wonder if it's less an air composition and more of a temperature issue? That is a massive part of life support too.

So sorry for not posting for a while. Life has been busy recently. I'm moving from all of the schools I teach at and my base school closed down so I was running around helping them clean-up, move things around and get rid of unnecessary things or stuff with personally identifiable information. It's sapped my energy and time. Things will be settling down next week, and I should be able to post more regularly.
But also please feel free to bot Seggas as soon as she is the one holding things up! Simply firing a gun works just fine.

Kind of a busy weekend. Did my taxes today AND grilled some food for the family! Also, it so happens I have my in-person game tomorrow night.
With all that in mind, I'll be trying to pick things up again here tomorrow night (Monday).

We will be picking up the pace. Today I was part of a fairly large charity gaming event. I have been working toward this for quite some time, especially the past 10 days.
This included running in-person Dungeons and Dragons, 3D printing about 150 miniatures, and lots of other smaller duties.
ANYWAY, today was a success! I anticipate getting back to 5-6 posts a week starting tomorrow.

Awesome! Sounds like fun. My next face to face con isn't until June and I am VERY much looking forward to it!
3d printing 150 minis.. wow, that's a lot. I hope your build plate was big enough to do several at once and you didn't have to fight with much clean up on each one!
