Bonkers spends his time int he way he usually does. He transforms a small area into a lab and does small experiments designed to finish in the expected flight time.
This time it's a short experiment, something fun. He is modifying some bioluminescent algae from Verces. He hopes to be able to use the small colony as a disco ball of multiple colors.
If Saggas (or really anyone else) shows any interest he is more than happy to discuss the project.
"Sometimes science can just be fun, you know?"
Seggas, an hour later, shakily walking about and still shedding a few blood red scales, pokes her head into the lab and pauses, eyes wide, as she notes the glowing ball of algae. "That is glorious! Did you make it yourself? Where did you find the genes for that? Do you need help?" She then pulls out a bottle of half filled lavender liquid, "Also you want a tipple of synthol?"
Liilywind

"The other cadets did make fun of my propensity to be afraiid of my own shadow...one that at least tries to offer insight in a galaxy I know nothing about can't be all bad." Liilywind speaks all the while touching the tips of her fingers and half burying herself in her now exposed neck fur.
She straightens up a bit, still pondering the fluid in the mug, before she hunkers back down, "You see, my magicks maniifested during training and I turned another cadet who was heckling me into...in-n...inside out... I then obviously switch focuses and learned in my mage traiining that my magicks is flawed, that I should always keep my emotions checked and never take riisks..."
She takes a long sigh, "But I'm with experienced agents of the Starfinders and, though they are diiferent, they each contribute in their own way. Beiings at least bold enough to step outside their own biosphere and explore the stars..."
Turning back to the drink, tilts her head then picks up the mug, "I am in control of myself and I can't always be afraiid of shadows..." She gulps the drink and her wings snaps together with a flap and she stands straight up as toll of the room, twitches for a moment then sits back down as if nothing had happen.
Seggas hears in her head, OOOOOHHHHH DDDD-DDEAR!!! That's almost like the honey nectar back home.... The thought stops and she hiccups a cute squeak then asks with her voice, "Now what's this about turning into a mermaid?...I would very much like to know how to swiim...kiirinta don't swiim...makes a mess of our wiings...you think Istilnar would also like to try being a mermaiid..."
She carries on in this fashion until Seggas leave the room. She tries to follow but her walking is now as wobbly as her flying.

The days pass, and soon you have the Avid Dreamer on your scopes.
The ship is adrift and slowly rotating. Scans reveal that both its main thrusters and maneuvering thrusters appear to be offline, but the hull is intact and there doesn't appear to be any damage.
I will need a relatively easy piloting check to match the rotation of this vessel and dock (if that is what you wish to do).
Liilywind
|
Can we do anything before hand like get some scans of it? Loose SS combat rules?
Liilywind sits in her chair, trying to bury her face in her chest again but she is back in her armor. More so trying to hide the look of a hang over though she slept the last almost two days and her wings seem to sag a bit, her colors muted.
"The ship seems too still. Let me try to analyze it."
She waives her hands over the console and an interface of magic appears with different symbols and runes.

It's hard to nail down detailed information, but you can tell two things:
1. Life support is off. You'll need to have your environmental protection turned on.
2. Normal gravity IS functional aboard the ship.
Your attempt at detecting life signs fails.
Liilywind

"I can't quite get a fix on any liifeforms but there is normal gravity. Life support is currently not functioning either. That's all I can gather. Make way as you see fiit."
Istilnar

Istilnar, silently focuses his control over mystic energy, scrying out into the void. Reaching out to the Avid Dreamer and instantly an image of the interior of the ship coalesces in his mind.

"Oh yes, come in! Always glad to work with another professional! There is a little known underground chameleon like animal on Akiton that can display a surprising range of colors. It's a little of that and a good old fashioned splice with some firefly DNA for a little extra 'pop'!"
He looks at the bottle. "Sure, as long as it doesn't give me a mermaid tail or anything. I would look ridiculous with one..."After they arrive at the ship's location: "No life support. Well, if there were crew left hopefully they were not oxygen breathers. Can anyone fly thins thing?"
Sturmvanger
|
"That's why they invented environmental seals, right? Though, depending on how long life support's been off, we can probably guess why we can't read any life forms," Sturmvanger says.
"Take us in," he says to the empty pilot station, then looks around at the others before settling his gaze on Seggas.
Bonkers123

Bonkers shrugs and jumps i the seat.
"How hard could it be!"
piloting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"OK, maybe harder than I thought..."
Heh, usually have multiple pilots, did have one recent game that had starship combat and i think the best piloting skill was a 4... I think that was a 5th to 6th level group. :)
| GM Quirk |
It takes Bonkers a little extra time to match the trajectory of the Avid Dreamer. Also, when he finally come within docking distance, there is a sickening "thud" when he connects with the ship. In other words, his docking maneuver was NOT the most gentle.
When you finally do dock, you make your way to an airlock. The Avid Dreamer's hatch appears to be locked.
Computer skill check to open the hatch, or an athletics check to force it open. Due to the cramped nature of this space, only one person may try these checks.
Liilywind
|
Liilywind hefts on her helm and the sound of a seal whirs up with the connection to her armor. Her antennae slides into their revealing receptacles and face shield materializes over her mouth. It seems to fit much better secured then when the team first met her.
She marches to the air lock and powers on her rifle, "In posiition to provide cover if needed and will cover our flank." She nods she beams enthusiastically back to the group who, probably, doesn't muster like a battalion.
Istilnar
|
"We are deep in unknown space without a qualified starship pilot," Istilnar says menacingly. "And now we entrust our safely to a ysoki named Bonkers???"
Bonkers123
|
As the 'thud' and a light 'scrreeeeching' sound of metal on metal ends, Bonkers face that had taken on a very wide eyed look, relaxes.
He sighs and unstraps. Then he looks to Istlinar. He crosses his eyes, gets a crazed look about him and i a high pitched nasally voice replies "So! Want me to manually pilot it all the way back home? Not my usual experiment but sounds fun!"
He then shakes his head, sighs again and goes to look at hatch to the airlock. "Ah. This I should be a tad easier. Oh, I think you got that last sequence backwards Keskada... let's try this.."
computers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Keskada pushes ahead and attempts open the airlock. When she does, several small vents open. A blast of compressed air blasts out of the vents, targeting the shirren.
to hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5) = 12
Hit. Keskada, take 12 points of damage.
Keskada might also be blasted 40' back. A DC 13 REF save will allow her to avoid being knocked back. Someone may make a DC 16 engineering check to disable this trap, which was clearly installed to repel borders.
Istilnar
|
Istilnar, almost falls as the ship rattles violently as Bonker's slams it into the Avid Dreamer. He sneers at the ysoki, but says nothing.
When Keskada is blasted by the trapped airlock he makes no move to do anything.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD
|
Seggas, unable to do much to help Keskada as she gets blasted back from the entrance, prepares to help her afterwards if she gets hurt further.
The biohacker instead moves up and tosses a small ball of biomatter on the trap, hating that she has to Cuttsy in such an aggressive way. "Come on Cuttsy! Know this isn't the normal sheet metal I have you cut for me, but this trap needs to be disabled."
Engineering, DC 16: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Bonkers moves to help Keskada up.
"You OK? That was completely unexpected..If that was meant to repel boarders, maybe this thing isn't unoccupied..."
Sturmvanger
|
"Or maybe they just didn't turn it off because of whatever the emergency is?" Sturmvanger points out.
If Keskada gets blown back, he will move to help her.
Istilnar
|
Istilnar, begins moving toward the airlock once he sees the trap is disarmed. He draws a plasma claw pistol from a holster strapped his thigh.
He also activates his black heart necrograft. It gives him the same bonuses as the environmental protection of armor and additionally, he gains an enhancement bonus to saving throws against death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning effects equal to the necrograft’s mark for a 24 hour period.

When Keskada falls and Sturm catches her, Lillywind runs to fill the space at distance and starts looking for targets to shoot and protect her allies.

Keskada casts Mystic Cure on herself.
[dice=Mystic Cure]1d8+4
Save your spell, Keskada. You just took stamina point damage (which always comes off first). Your spell will only heal hit point damage. What you can do is spend a resolve point, rest 10 minutes while your fellow Starfinders get the door open, and then you will get ALL of the stamina you lost back.

Seggas steps forward and disables the vents that allow the compressed air to blast out at you. You all will be safe for now.
With that, Bonkers steps forward and gets you into the Avid Dreamer.
As you step through the airlock, you find yourself in a small cargo hold.
Magnified by speakers in the walls and ceiling, a voice echoes
through the ship “Attention, unauthorized intruders. There’s
nothing for you to do here and nothing for you to steal. Scans of
your ship have been taken and will be forwarded to authorities
if you attempt to take any of my cargo. I don’t want to hurt you.
Leave immediately, or I will activate full defense mechanisms.”
There is a pause, then the voice pipes up again. "By the way, I didn't appreciate your less-than-gentle docking maneuvers. Nobody seems to want to take the time to be careful anymore..."
I picture the voice as being very similar to Marvin.. Maybe a bit more feminine.
Liilywind
|
Twitching a bit as she passes the threshold, Liilywind twitches when the voice speaks. She stops then calls out, "We apologize for the rude introduction but we are Starfinders responding to a diistress call. We have a healer willing to look at your wounded."
She catches herself, realizing she has spoken and looks at the group. Her eyes scanned past a dark space with only a face looking back at her and snaps back forward, thinking of the judgement the face must be giving. She make a soft sigh and holds her head up, trying to be confident in her actions.
Sturmvanger
|
Sturvanger follows Liilywind in. He doesn't have his reaction cannon out but it is handy. And he's got other methods of defending himself.
The kirrinta seems a bit jumpy to be an effective soldier but maybe her skittishness translates into the appropriate amount of paranoia for a warrior to have.
He cocks his head to the side and looks at Seggas.
"We're not here to steal. We're here to help. We've been authorized to provide assistance with your engine troubles," he calls out.
Istilnar
|
Istilnar, pushes past the anxious kiirinta. "A being such as this does not respond to simple entreaties such as yours."
He then turns toward the speaker and says, "Who are you?" Istilnar's voice changes as he speaks. Instead of a tortured whisper his voice has now taken on a eerily mesmerizing quality, at first fascinating, but at the same time terrifying to hear. vampire voice

To Istilnar's query, the voice merely answers, "I am Avid Dreamer. I would have thought you would know that. It was in the signal I sent."
The voice seems unfazed by the intimidating tone Istilnar uses.
To the rest of you, the voice merely adds the following:
“I don’t believe you any of the things you are saying. Only AutoMaint 13 can help me. Deactivating incoming communications as a defense against lies.”

The little moth is caught off guard by the arms that slides menacingly towards the group. On reflex, she reaches up her and says, "I call the magic of sticky web!"
A faint light forms around the red arm as something starts to happen but the area around it and the track begins to shift wildly as if a bubble of alternate realities seems to cover track, turning it from rusted metal to a jungle vine that still attempts to impede its movement.
"Oh dear.." she says as she comes to her sense and pulls up her rifle.
