As the last of the arthropods fall, the time rift displaying a vast desert closes. To its right, another rift opens, containing only a swirling void, releasing new creatures into the chamber. The mist in the middle of the archway clears for a moment, revealing the outline of a dragonkin which is quickly replaced by a lanky, crystalline humanoid reaching through the arch, its not-yet-fully-manifested hand clawing in Felise’s direction. “We need to hurry!” she calls, between incantations. “That’s a time dimensional, and it doesn’t look pleased!”

Table GMs, Checkpoint 1 is complete, and the Borrowed Time condition is in effect.

I'm spending my move action to take aim through a sniper scope so I can reduce the bonus from the cover by 4, so in this case effectively negating soft cover.

Dr. Dov knows quite a bit about both creatures.

The incorporeal ysoki are driftdead, a type of undead spirit. Evidently these ysoki died within the Drift while consumed with a strong negative emotion such as hatred, fear or rage. It is a restless undead spirit and what’s left of a driftdead's fragmented psyche is filled with confusion, rage, and a hatred for the living. So overwhelming is this flux of emotions that a driftdead psychically broadcasts its confusion, affecting all who venture too close. They would have fully corporeal bodies in the drift, but here they are incorporeal.

Although so far they have only attacked with their claws, they are able to make a ranged attack that pulls apart the molecular bonds of matter.

Furthermore, he realizes that they would retain the ysoki ability to operate normally when off-kilter.

Game Mechanics:

Confusion Aura (Su) Any creature that comes within 30 feet of a driftdead must succeed at a DC 13 Will save or be confused for 2 rounds. Once a creature has attempted this save, whether successful or not, it can't be affected again by the same driftdead's aura for 24 hours.

Drift Rip (Su) Just as the Drift tears away chunks of planar material, a driftdead can pull apart the molecular bonds of matter, ripping open the flesh of nearby creatures. This is a ranged attack against EAC that has a range of 30 feet.

Spatial Incorporeality (Ex) Within the Drift, a driftdead has a physical body, but if removed from that plane, its physical body phases out of normal reality. On the Material Plane or otherwise outside the Drift, a driftdead becomes incorporeal. This doesn't change any of the driftdead's statistics, but the driftdead gains all of the other benefits of the incorporeal special ability (see page 264 of the Starfinder Core Rulebook). If returned to the Drift, a driftdead immediately loses the incorporeal special ability as its physical body returns.

Moxie Ysoki are scrappy and nimble even when the odds are against them. A ysoki can stand from prone as a swift action. Additionally, when off-kilter (see page 276), a ysoki does not take the normal penalties to attacks or gain the flat-footed condition. When attempting an Acrobatics check to tumble through the space of an opponent at least one size category larger than himself, a ysoki receive a +5 racial bonus to the check.

The fractal creatures are infused time eaters, a type of outsider native to the drift. They are well adapted to living in the void. Although they are called time eaters, it would be more accurate to say that they steal momentum from their victims and transfer it to themselves. The more of this they steal, the faster they can fly and the more accurate their attacks are. It can sense living creatures within 60’ of it as well as having blindsight.

Steal Momentum (Su) When a time eater hits a creature with its tentacle attack, its fly speed increases by 10 feet for 1 minute and its penalties for a full attack decreases by 1 (to a minimum of zero). These adjustments are cumulative. In addition, a creature hit by a time eater's tentacle attack must attempt a DC 15 Will save. The first time a creature fails this save, its speeds decrease by 10 feet (to a minimum of 0). The second time, it gains the staggered condition. The third time and each time thereafter, it gains the paralyzed condition. These effects are cumulative and last for 1 minute or until the time eater is destroyed, whichever comes first. A creature that succeeds at its save is immune to further applications of that time eater's steal momentum ability for 24 hours.
