Vacation? What was that? I can barely remember...

I as well forgot the last part so here it goes:

Velspira Ridani had just only recent captured one of her bounties when she was taken to land of Barovia in the dead of night from a dark and treacherous fog. A stranger now in a strange land.

Looking forward to seeing who gets picked for this epic journey. There are so many great submissions. Maybe one of those not picked would be up for DMing this for some of the rest of the unchosen? Surely there are enough of us for 2 campaigns. (Nope, not volunteering, I can't take that on atm).

Ok I think thats the latest list. I will start to look over what is submitted so far and send a PM just letting you know if you are missing something major. I did not expect this much interest I am glad. I will try to balance the group out best as possible. Blaze is right there is certainly enough interest here to generate a second group if someone else is willing.

Dark Archive

I'm done, my info is on a google docs folder (link in my profile and here Gabriel Belmont).
Gabriel Belmont is a vampire hunter with a troubled past and a varied skillset. He is quick (speed 40), inquisitive (+4 to perception, insight, and investigation), and strong-willed (+4 to wisdom saves).

He can hold his own in combat with some minor off-tank capabilities (d10 HD and good Constitution), but is mostly a flanker or mobile fighter who can move in and out of combat (high Dex), freeing up his allies (using Mobile to move up to an enemy, hit them, and give their ally the opportunity to reposition without threat of attack).

He is skilled in noticing liars and finding secrets, and (in the off-chance he needs to), is capable of breaking into places and undoing mechanical traps and locks (thieves' tools proficiency with +6).

Pretty genre-savvy, Gabriel takes his job as a defender of the innocent very seriously, and his background as a survivor from the mysterious monastary gave him minor powers (or access to divine secrets) he does not fully understand. He knows a word of healing, but uses it sparingly, for fear what the Dark Powers might know.

He is not very charismatic, usually letting his reputation speak for him, and this has caused him many misfortunes in his past, as some people he tried to save find him coarse, unconvincing, or too paranoid to display his case well (-1 to Charisma checks). This has resulted in unfortunate and very avoidable losses, and Gabriel (because of this) is keen on working with a 'face' who can do the convincing while he does the investigating.

Acquisitives

Gabriel Belmont* wrote:

He drinks the tea from his flask, and says, glancing at the refugees stirring in the distant camp. "I don't know about a celestial task, but I came here to help who I can, and live up to my master's expectations."

"Barovia?" Agnar repeats the land's name with a mixture of curiosity and dislike, rolling it over his tongue and finding the taste not pleasing.

The silence of the small camp is broken up with the regular sounds of an axe swung by Nameless, performing the ever-needed task of chopping wood. He seems content, though who can know what maelstrom swirls behind his eyes, pining for a life he will never know again.

"Yes, yes it seems that directions are needed. That is a cruel thing, if what you say is true. For mists, like kidnappers, to skulk out of their physical boundaries and take away people without warning or permission. How much like warlords, or a plague, to do with a person what they will. Indeed, did I not have you to explain it to me, I would still be here without ken of what happened!"

The wood split by Nameless is gathered up by Charles in armfuls. These he carries to the fire embankment. Some are stacked for later use, and some are fed to the ever-hungry flames of the fire. It is needed work, and it seems if he did not do it, it would not be done. Betimes he wonders how the fire would get made if he were not here.

"You are a native of this ransomer's land? No no, that is too kind. A ransomer can at least be paid off--there can always be hope that if enough -things- are offered, be they shiny coins, or cut rocks, or the gentle touch of one to their liking, that freedom might one day come. But here?"

As he speaks Anya mixes a blend of corn meal and wheat flour. Adding water and a pinch of salt, she makes flattens out balls and puts the thin cakes on the fire to cook. The smells of warm wheat cakes wafts away from the flames into the noses of those nearby, speaking of another meal in the making. She appears content.

"What say you, good sir? What hope have I, erm, we, that we might again one day walk on familiar lands?"

Gabriel listens to Agnar silently, observing his companion's movement and camp-tending.

The wanderer pauses, looking at his flask.

"Freedom...?" he asks. "I suppose the Vistani might give some answers. If you know not Barovia, then you should start with them. Wanderers, traders, and oft-times perceived as thieves and criminals. Treat them with respect and you might learn something. They..."

The man twists his mouth in a thoughtful gesture, and continues, "It is said that they can navigate the mists, but they don't often help the Giorgio with anything, let alone mist-walking."

He looks at the party--one well-cohesive and friendly.
"I fear Barovia might be your home for at least the next few moons. The Powers that Be have very sticky fingers with the ones they...ransom, as you put it."

Being a little less experienced with 5e, I'll try to cast things that hurt enemies and help the party. Character wise I'm just going to be the weird melancholic sorceress.

I should make my decision tonight. If you didn't get a pm I didn't notice anything missing if you had a full submission.

Well, I hate turning people away, but I did not expect so many submissions thank you all for participating in the recruitment. I am going to take one more because it was too hard to choose and really just came down to needing a balanced group in the end.

The following players please report to the discussion tab with any final adjustments and an avatar
Blaze Goldenhoof-Centaur Barbarian
Shandi- Human Wizard
Velspira Ridani- Tiefling Sorceror
Sven-Artificer
Redemption of Azure Flame-Warforged Druid
Malaya-Cleric or Arcane
