he elven wizardress enters, her hand upon a quarterstaff. The staff is tapered at the base and carved into a gem-studded twist at the top. On her shoulder is a small draconic creature with purple bluish scales and butterfly wings, snacking on a small fruit pie. Her robes are white as is the floppish hat on her head. On her sides are scroll cases and a few wands. Her skin is the color of ivory which only serves to highlight her midnight black hair and purple eyes.

I am Avonathalanthalasa Caldon, from Kyonin and a student of the art of the Magaambya.Elven is often difficult for non native speakers to pronounce so you may call me Avonatha, if that is easier for you to pronounce. This is Quete she says, pointing at the faerie dragon. Quete continues to smack up his pie. up

She continues, Are there any other followers of the Vigilant Seal present for this mission? Her tone is friendly but matter of fact.

A gnome swaggers in. He looks ill prepared for any sort of mission, being armed only with a spiked gauntlet and a couple of javelins and wearing no armor, just a pair of buckskin pants, heavy boots and a vest that leaves his hairy arms and chest exposed. His pants are held up by a belt with a buckle the size of a buckler and he's got sigil lined cloth wrapped around his hands and wrists. Those strips were probably once pristinely white but now they are a dark rust color at his fingers fading to pink toward his wrists.

His hair is swept back and wild. His face can only be described as "feral" with sharp nose, sharp teeth, sharply pointed ears and fierce eyes.

His fingernails are long, thick and dirty.

"I'm Zabu," he announces. "Nice to meet you, Avon.

"I'm not part of the Vigilant Seal but I could be convinced to convert for a mission," he says with a wolfish grin while he eyes her up and down.

Soon a man approaches Zabu and Avonatha, he is wearing louse clothes and his head is wrapped with a cloth as well, his skin is dark and his eyes are keen

"Welcome Sirs and Madams, My name is Ahmad ibn Fadlan, I see that you came before I opened my stall, please sit. I shall bring you honey cake with a glass of green tee. The heat should be more bearable every minute now, but I strongly suggest you to not drink alcohol yet, It can be dangerous. Will you be joined by more companions or is it only the two of you?" ask the man as he prepares his stall and invites you to sit at the table.

"A bulette?" inquires a halfling in a cold, yet high-pitched tone. "Such unpleasant beasts."

Adorned in a finely-tailored ulster coat that does little to hide his slender form, which seems rather gaunt for a halfling. Walking over to the table, the man dusts off an area of the table before taking a seat. "There is certainly no shortage of sand in this city."

Looking around says to no one in particular, "This is certainly not where I would have chosen to meet, but it will suffice. I understand that it would not due for a band of Pathfinders to bring offense to the locals."

"Strongest drink I have, let me check what I have, tee, coffee no. Ahh here it is" he pours you a glass and adds a bit of water to it. The color change from translucent to white. It is a potent alcoholic beverage

Ahmad gives cake and tea to Avonatha and Quete and ushers Gurka to have a sit. He gives her a woven hat "I think you lost it when you entered, keep it. Could come handy at one point"

Then he brings her a glass of tea.

"Don't bother with cleaning from sand, good sir. It is futile action, accept what you can't change, that is my motto."

"KLATZU has never heard of a band of Pathfinders ever inconveniencing towns. The PATHFINDER SOCIETY is always WELL RECEIVED wherever KLATZU goes!"

Arriving somewhat late to the appointed meetup is a... goblin?- that appears to be riding a large white, armored wolf. At least, you think its a Goblin. The creature is decked head-to-toe in an improbably constructed suit of armor that seems to be constructed entirely from various scrap. Pieces you can only assume were pulled directly from a demolition site jut out at strange angles, mixed piecemeal with plates of an alien substance and scraps of barely intact chain. His steed seems to be similarly outfitted in barding that seems ill-fitting but well constructed from trash. The only elements that are distinct from the garbage mail are the glints from what you can assume are the creature's eyes, obscured in shadow under their makeshift helmet, and a strikingly green scarf that is inexplicably perfectly maintained in spite of its proximity to the greasy plate and sandy environment.

"Ah, KLATZU has yet to introduce self! Klatzu is KLATZU! MASTER CRAFTSMAN and VANGUARD OF REVOLUTION! Siva is SIVA! NOBLE STEED and FANG OF REBELLION! Pathfinders already know KLATZU's work, of course." The goblin extends a hand to anyone willing to clasp arms, although it is hard to make out where, exactly, his fingers are. After accepting any handshakes, the goblin continues. "KLATZU not of Vigilant Seal, but has worked closely under KLINE past months. Klatzu personally responsible for leading the front in Iobaria, while ensuring every Pathfinder armed and ready for glorious conflict! New mission sure to be more exciting than boring clerical work!"

Turning to the proprietor, Klatzu barks, "PERSON! KLATZU values your hard work! KLATZU and SIVA would like your hardest water, and will ensure your FAIR COMPENSATION on behalf of the PATHFINDER SOCIETY!"

So here you are, sitting and chatting soon a young boy enters and gives you five letters with a pathfinder seal. When you open them they are written by Ambrus Valsin.

After reading the note, Hamir, Gurka, Avonatha, and Klatzu try to recall what they know about the undead in Sothis.

GM Screen:

Hamir Crookfeather's Religion (E): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

Gurka 'The Flamboyant's' Religion (T): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

KLATZU's Religion (T): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Avonatha and Hamir recall that undead have been found within the tombs of
some ancient Osirian officials, magic users, and royalty. While some undead found in Osirion were intentionally created to serve as protectors or sentinels over burial sites or temples, few such places are known to exist within the city limits of Sothis. Most such sites lie in remote locations far from the city. Many undead carry horrible diseases.

You can also ask around about Sandswept Hall before going there, Diplomacy (secret check) to gather information - you can either roll it yourself (in a spoiler) or just post your modifier and I will roll it. I am doing those checks before going to the meeting place so that you can purchase some gear if you feel like it ;)

"Yeah...unpleasant beasts are just terrible," Zabu says with an ironic grin.

He's already seeing how this fancy lad halfling is going to be entertaining.

When the odd goblin rides up, Zabu is happy to shake with him but disappointed when the old "squeeze so hard the other guy's hand hurts" trick doesn't work because all he can get his own hand on is armor.

But soon enough the mission arrives in the form of letters.

The feral gnome just scans it before shooting down his drink, hopping off his stool and heading toward the location, dusting his hands off along the way and wobbling a bit.

The sweat that stands out noticeably on his forehead suggests he should have taken the vendor's advice.

Klatzu pays for the drinks with his handcrafts "Yeah, I can sell it as a work of newly discovered goblin tribe" comments Ahmad a bit disappointed.

Klatzu and Hamir try to gather some information about the Pathfinder Lodge in Sothis, and end up talking with the same person. A woman who was coming back with a basket full of laundry. She puts the basket on the ground and lowers her voice like she would be telling you a secret

"It was once a prison. But now the Sandswept Hall serves as a storehouse, barracks, and training facility for Pathfinder agents. Also known as the Sothis Lodge, the Sandswept Hall has a history of bounty hunting for side income that it has only recently worked to reform by limiting the people held beneath the lodge to those who pose a legitimate danger to society."

Gurka keeps on chatting with Ahmad who apparently has a friend taking care of magically securing places. "I did not heard much but the Sothis Lodge recently began the process of replacing the animated statues it uses for defense, as they rely on ancient magic and many have been destroyed. If you ask me it means that either they got big money or the guardians were neede."

Avonatha tries to recall more information about the undead. But there is something at that place that does not let her focus. She simply remembers the old mantra: Undead creatures are damaged by positive energy, are healed by negative energy. There is something with disease, curses, and others but she can't remember exactly.

After that you head to Sandswept Halls.

Doors beneath an immense archway bid entry to a compound surrounded by twelve-foot exterior walls. The courtyard beyond contains a lush garden filled with date palms, sycamores, and tamarisk trees. Strung between two rows of trees, a wooden framework gently bows, laden with hanging plants and fruiting grapevines. The thick foliage grants welcome shade from Osirion’s blazing sun. Insects and small mammals occasionally skitter across the ground. A pair of stone sphinxes frame the entrance to a two-story structure made from white limestone block, casting their reflections upon neighboring pools fed by aqueducts from the nearby River Sphinx.

A human woman adorned with garments bearing the official seal of the Ruby Prince stands beneath a tree, while a grippli man perches in the tree’s branches. He wears a loose-fitting robe and head scarf, and a wayfinder dangles from a cord around his neck. Noticing that the two are no longer alone in the garden, the grippli jumps down to the ground and continues speaking.

"As I was saying, a sudden shortage of labor has caused our local lodge to be a bit remiss in its maintenance of the grounds of late, but there is no cause for alarm," the grippli declares loudly. "The Society’s minor lapse is certainly nothing to trouble the Ruby Prince with—may he live a pleasant and uncursed life."

The official looks at you briefly "May he live an uncurse life. But those are no minor complaints, bad state of gardens, rodents like rats, scorpions, dung beetles, and what not visible in bit quantities, rotten fruits and general state of disorder."

The official raises an eyebrow, but remains silent as the grippli continues. "Surely whoever reported the state of the grounds to your office is merely a concerned neighbor? And the Society endeavors to be a good neighbor as well! We’ll clean up straightaway. Why, I believe that this group of fresh faces may well be the additional hands that we have asked for help with, um, cleaning up, is that not so?"

You seem to have stumbled at a conversation happening, and Grippli man is expecting you to speak up ;) Whatever you do make a roll of the most relevant skill, please don't be shy on RP'ing what you are doing, rolls without description could get penalties, the one with cool description may get extra bonus.

Klatzu picks up on the signalling immediately, having been on the receiving end of many a revolutionary message in the past. "Klatzu and Siva have indeed come to clean house! As can see, Siva is exceedingly large, and able to easy hunt down pests! And Klatzu is a MASTER CRAFTSMAN, here to make sure that any repairs that need to be taken care of are taken care of!"

Klatzu confidently puffs his chest out to emphasize his claim, before continuing rapidly at the slightest sign of skepticism from the official. "Don't believe Klatzu? Klatzu wearing the proof of Klatzu's skill! Feast eyes upon Klatzu's latest masterpiece!" The goblin quickly un-bucklers a small shield strapped to his upper arm, tossing it over to the official to inspect. "If you have eye for quality, you will see that Klatzu's buckler made of rarest Adamantine! And is clear to all that this was, in fact, made BY KLATZU! (This is, in fact, very apparent- while made from Adamantine, it was crafted while benefitting from the Junk Tinker feat, so the alloy contains mild striations from subpar metals used in the smelting process; however, it is still very clearly Adamantine to anyone who has handled it in the past or is aware of its qualities.) No humdrum craftsman capable of working Adamantine! Only Klatzu have knowledge and skill required!"

Klatzu will continue to talk about his master craftsmanship until the official leaves as his pride takes over. Even if the official is not paying attention to Klatzu, Klatzu will continue rambling about his credentials and expertise in the background.

To overwhelm the official with technical jargon and bragging: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24

Gurka just rolls her eyes discreetly wishing that she could just perform the mission without having to engage in subterfuge. She's more of a tell the truth in the most blunt way possible. Thinking about the situation she grows more frustrated and decides to just be herself.

"I know we don't have the most esteemed reputation in these parts. I get it. We accidentally cursed your leader. I don't think anyone is going to fault you for keeping a wary eye on us. But let me tell you from my time with the Society there is one thing I know. We learn from our mistakes. We aren't going to let some garbage ruin our second chance. I will pull every weed. Kill every beetle. I am here to make sure that every single issue with this lodge is resolved even if it kills me. You have my word"

After saying her peace in the matter she walks off happy with her speech. Was it blunt? Sure. Was it honest? Yes. Did she hope that her statement didn't open up more questions especially about dying? Yes.

"Ugh...cleaning up ANOTHER lodge. I didn't sign up to be a custodian," Zabu grumbles, largely to himself.

"I believe you'll find that a person's right to complain about property not there own is limited by the extent to which that other person's property impinges on their own safety and well being so unless you can provide hard proof that the status of this property is causing some sort of health issue to those outside there is really no standing for a complaint," Zabu says idly before actively scratching his exposed chest with his sharp nails.

Legal Lore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

No need to use hero points. Both Gurka and Klatzu made the first check, altho barely.

The Sothis official listens to Klatzu and nods his head "Wait, but why do you need a blacksmith, to tend care of gardens? Are you going to introduce some steel parts into the garden, as I am not sure if additional paperwork would have to be needed." Success, barely but a success.

Gurka gives a speech and Sothis official shifts uneasily about pathfinders cursing Ruby Prince "That was very unfortunate of you, but you do reassure me with some of my objections." Second succes.

Hamir tries to seal the deal by redirecting the official's attention to something else and sending him chasing other tasks. "Wait good sir. As much as I would love to purse my other duties but we are still not done here." Unfortunatelly failure.

Official looks at Avonatha who says nothing. Not participating is a failure. Just an FYI this was not a task of diplomacy, as Klatzu showed, almost every skill was acceptable here. And as lately it is the amount of success that counts, not participating is hurting your team. But this matter was spoken a number of occasions

But then Zabu comes to the rescue, who would have expected that this small feral gnome is familiar with legal matters. He is the one to finally convince the cleric and send him on his way.

"I am Po'ogaat, but call me Po. I am second in command when Venture-Captain Norden Balentiir is busy"

He retrieves a voluminous canteen from the base of the tree, and bids you to follow him into the lodge to meet with Venture-Captain. As they walk, Po’ogaat wets his headscarf with the canteen before taking a long, hard drink, then moistening his eyeballs and lips with his tongue. "I truly love Sothis," he states, "but I cannot say my skin feels the same way. The dryness, however, is the least of our concerns."

Po looks at Zabu and passes his canteen "Drink, you look like you need it as much as I do. Follow me"

Po leads you through the lodge’s entrance and into a side chamber before unlocking a heavy door that leads to a set of descending stairs.

Once in the basement, Po ushers the party through a series of locked doors, which he promptly locks again after the party passes through them.
If you ever visited prison this would be like it, only one door open at a time. Doors are heavy and locked on solid locks. It is like someone is afraid of worse things getting out then rats and cockroaches...

"Ehhh, sure. If I find a spare one. This is my only one. I may find a junior agent with a key to accompany you, maybe..." he did not sound to sure.

As the party is led deeper underground, you reach the base of a set of stairs that opens into the western wall of a corridor running from north to south. On the western wall, across from the stairs stands an open double door, above which is carved, in Common, "Hall of Recognition." Pourges the party to enter the hall.

Beyond the doors, a large room is well-illuminated by magical torches that light the ornamental tracery carved into the walls and ceiling. Bas-reliefs adorn the long walls, displaying the likenesses of heroic figures from days past. Each is rendered in beautiful detail. A massive, stylized pyramid takes up the eastern half of the room. Map is up

"Welcome to the Hall of Recognition. This room was originally used by the Society to honor prominent members from Osirion,"

Po explains. "Over the past several years, as the exploits of the Society have expanded, so too has the Hall. It had to be renovated over the past decade following an unpleasant incident with a vampire, but that was before my time."

"Speaking of prominent Pathfinders, I expected to meet Venture-Captain Balentiir here."

Po looks around quizzically, then makes his way to the western door to peer out into the hallway. As he does so, he is met by the sounds of rending wood and shouts. Several people, clearly Pathfinder agents, rush past the doorway of the Hall of Recognition, fleeing from a commotion to the south while shouting,

"They’ve activated the statues! They’re turning our own defenses on us!"

Po's already-bulbous eyes widen further at the scene.

"Defend the room," he instructs. "And hold it for the venture-captain’s return. I will see to the others".
With remarkable speed, the grippli Pathfinder darts out of the room towards the fleeing agents.

When you look around Gurka notices a Junior agent in the corridor of the hall looking at her with big eyes. "save me"
Gurka also notices that the agent is wearing the same kind of hat that the merchant tried to shove her. Here is your audience, RP your use of performance pls.

Enemies are not visible yet, position yourself on the map, at least 20 ft from the western corridor.

"A most curious monument," Hamir mutters aloud as he examines the large pyramid structure when he first enters the room. "I wonder if it is related to the questionable joint venture with the Aspis Consortium or, perhaps, an earlier discovery involving a race of underground elves?"

There are a lot of things you can say about Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed - he's aggressive, he's smelly, he's crass, he's crude, he's violent, he's lewd, he's lecherous, but one thing you can't say about him is that he's prone to shying away from a fight.

"I like this mission already!" he declares as it becomes evident that they're about to see some action.

He crosses the room, his whole body transforming as he does so. His fingernails shift into talon, his mouth extends into a muzzle and his canines grow so long that they protrude down to his chin and his entire body becomes covered in a thick pelt of fur.

Zabu rages, values in parenthesis in his headers are in effect.

The goblin seems confident in his own might as he leads the way in atop his adamant steed. Siva's hairs seem to raise slightly as they proceed through the procession of doors, but Klatzu doesn't acknowledge it aside from a few subtle glances. Siva nonetheless becomes noticeably more on alert as they descend deeper into the lodge.

Siva lets out a low growl as chaos breaks out. "GET BEHIND KLATZU! SIVA AND KLATZU HOLD THE GATE!" As Klatzu nudges Siva into motion with his legs, the Goblin quickly readies a bastard sword with a frosted blade of (literally) folded steel and a hefty shield. "Siva, prepare for taste of combat!" Gurka just stands there a bit flabbergasted at the lone person standing there. Normally accustomed to more of a bigger audience Gurka just shrugs and decides to just get some practice cutting a promo.

" You.... I can see the fear in your eyes but remember who we are. We are Pathfinders. We've gone toe to toe with the worse of Golarion. Gods??? Pfffttt.... Killed them and took their domain. Necromancers bent on creating an incurable plague. Cured it and destroyed her. Even the "mighty" Whispering Tyrant was only able to give us a black eye. So just know we'll keep you alive. We will stop this menace. And afterwards we can celebrate."

Gurka upon thinking about her words quietly thinks to herself," Not bad but need to be a lot less specific. No one is going to care about the Pathfinder Society. Maybe play up the time I had my arm dislocated but still won...."

You all prepare for what there is to come. Avonatha stands ready keeping a safe distance from the entrance. You hear them coming, step by step they are getting closer.

Zabu gets into a rage, his claws and fangs growing and resembles those of Siva, but angrier.

Klatzu prepares his mount to charge, his steed was nervous and might enjoy some action and not only the waiting.

Hamir points out the historical details of the pyramid... If only there was time to admire them.

Gurka gives an uplifting speech, of bravery and battles.

Through the corridor comes three statues made from rock, wielding sickles in each hands. Just behind them enters undead, bones are clearly visible and they are dragging longswords behind them. Bigger images in the slides
