As the champion slumps to the ground, Venn puts a singular flourish in the follow up. It's not an affectation, it's a wind up for the next swing. The work is not done, and while covered in wound-slurry, Venn's grip remains firm:

Hastening to prepare the group for the worst, Belwick moves closer to the southern entrance and begins working some magic. As the arcane words spill from his mouth, a comically small wooden fence appears. Three feet tall and three feet wide, it's certainly not enough to hold back even the most average of sahuagin.

"No, that won't do at all," the wizard says, once more resuming his spellcasting. This time an illusory stone block, five feet to each side, appears on top of the fence. "A bit of reality to lend credence to the illusory. Let's hope that helps."
Using Minor Conjuration to make a wood fence on the southern edge of the square south of Caelius. Then using Minor Illusion to put a 'stone block' over the fence. Goal here is to make it so that if they try and touch the stone that they meet resistance.

He them moves further back into the chamber. Hobart lands once more on his master's shoulder, and the nobleman strokes the birds head in thanks for their bravery.

Belwick looks at his friends. "Ready yourselves! I suspect we are about to face a great and potent danger. Perhaps one more powerful than we've encountered before."

Alisanne finally takes a moment to relax. She knows the respite is brief, with the cries from the dark approaching.

Bimz alights onto her shoulders, tail gently curling around her neck. He nudges her with his snout until Alisanne acquiesces and gives him scritches. Knowing that her resources are light for the coming battle, she takes inspiration from her little dragon friend and starts to put a new idea into action.

She begins playing an old, ancient tune on her flute. As she does, a stream of golden notes fly forth, swirling in a maelstrom before her. It continues to grow larger and larger, until she plays the last note and the maelstrom explodes away in a cacophony of light. When the light finally fades, a massive velveteen dragon, looking very much like an oversized Bimz, stands before them in the room.

Immediately, Alisanne transitions to a new tune. This one is much more upbeat and playful. A new stream a silver notes fly forth, suffusing the large stuffed animal. It begins to glow from within. As she plays, Alisanne starts dancing a little jig; Bimz easily rides alongs, adjusting himself to Alisanne's movements. As she does, the velveteen dragon stretches its wings, stands tall, and starts dancing with her. Bimz gives a joyful cry and takes flight, dancing together with Alisanne and the dragon.

Alisanne completes her tune. You two play for a bit while we prepare for this fight. Bimz and the dragon continue to play as Alisanne joins the others to strategize.
