There is the sound of a conch horn and in the darkness ahead, you hear the sounds of dozens of charging feet. Caelius waits at the barricade and alerts the party as Sahuagin, these with thick scales and adorned with bracelets and finery that sets them apart from the other Sahuagin you've seen, start to charge from the darkness. In the dim light you spy spears and claws and teeth, and hear the sounds of snapping jaws.
The battle begins.

He then hangs back, for if he moves up, he'll awaken more foes with the damaging guardians swirling around him.

Knowing that violence is ahead of them, Alisanne commands the dwagon into the next room, to ready for the leader's charge. She likewise readies herself for any danger.
Bonus action to command dragon, Dodge Action
Dwagon moves and Readies to attack if the leader gets into range.
| Dungeon Master Tony |
Alisanne commands Dwagon, and Venn lets loose a cloth yard shaft. Shots are at disadvantage because the Baron was dodging. For simplicity, I'm giving each shot here a -5 Penalty. But 19, the second shot, is a hit. The arrow takes Baron Kepmak in the shoulder and sinks to the fletching. The Baron is already preparing to charge the stuffy.
Caelius prepares, and Belwick focuses on defense. Embers sees her shot... And readies it.
Ready Action. Shot Vs. Baron Kepmak when he closes to engage the Stuffy Dwagon.
Baghotir's Sacred Flame spell doesn't land.
Baron Kepmak, now able to engage, charges The Stuffed Dwagon. The Dwagon attacks... 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 but the stuffed fangs aren't even noticed by the Baron.
Embers peeks out from cover and shoots her little bow and arrow... I am granting The Baron Half-Cover because of the angle of the shot as on the map. AC of the Baron is now, for Embers... 18.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 or Advantage from Hidden: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 the shot, perfectly timed and from hiding... MISSES.
The Baron lays into Stuffy The Dwagon...
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 and 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 The Baron's trident rips into Stuffy for... 4d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5, 7, 2) + 8 = 28 points of piercing damage. Stuffing goes everywhere. The Baron then tries to rip out Stuffy's throat with his own teeth... 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 hitting for 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9
Stuffy takes 36 Points of Damage. Then the Baron, satisfied, starts to sniff the air. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7... His eyes roll over black and he enters Blood Frenzy.
