The elderly Osirion man awakens. "Th-thank you," he says in Osirion, then common. "My name is Zukka Nephmet. Who do I have to thank for my rescue?" His inquiry is cut short by a cough and an ache in his side. Healed as he is, he remains in poor condition.
When the local man is awakened, he gives a series of startled cries, "Treachery! Betrayal!" He flails against the webbing and frantically looks around the chamber, then seems to calm down. Spotting the party's weapons, an air of strong suspicion overcomes him. "If you've cut me loose, then you have been sent by the Black Marquis, yes? He must be warned. He has been betrayed! Betrayed, I tells ye!"
GM Valen |
Koani sighs with relief. "Can you tell us more about this betrayal?" she asks the man.
"Aye! Twas the Lady Riverbane, it was. She led us here to die, she did! As sure as me name is One-Eyed Farl, I tell ye!" explains the local man. "I be a close friend of the Black Marquis. Many of us, loyal--among the Black Marquis' best--we joined Lady Riverbane when she told us 'bout a crypt in these parts and its alluring prize."
"She claimed t'have found the location of the crypt in some book. Claimed it lied nearby, here in the Echo Wood, and that it held a vault full of great riches waiting to be plundered. Of course, when the Black Marquis heard her tale, he resolved t'find the vault," One-Eyed Farl continues. "Convinced, the Black Marquis set out assemblin' a group of men, but was unwillin' to rely on insubordinate pirate troops. Thus, he chose only the rare few men he could trust--such as yours truly--and those poor souls." The pirate points to a collection of desiccated still hanging in the webs.
"But, it was no crypt t'where she led us! Twas this wretched place--an unholy shrine to Mazmezz, demon lord of vermin--where we was led. Here, the villainous woman left us to die at the hand of ettercaps and arachnid monstrosities she knew lived here!"
"That woman plots to dethrone the Black Marquis and to undermine Bazzak’s hold on the Pirate Pact," he hisses. "But now that I've experienced the Lady Riverbane's treachery first hand--seen it with me one-good eye--I must be warnin' the Black Marquis!"
Both survivors, Farl and Nephmet, are infinitely grateful for the rescue. Each, however, is mentally broke and tired from their ordeal. Neither is in any condition to fight. Beneath the still hanging bodies lie fallen belongings and loose coins, in total valued at 1464 gold pieces.

When the party finally exits the loathsome shrine, it looks like the sun itself decided to celebrate the Pathfinders’ victory over the evil denizens of the mound. But the sun didn’t come alone: Lady Riverbane and four of her rough pirate flunkies also await the party in the glade outside of the shrine!
“Well,” says the jet-haired pirate woman, lips twisted in a grin. “Shiver me timbers! Look who made it out alive. I hoped the crawling horrors would be the end of you, but I suppose vermin don’t eat each other.” Riverbane spits on the moss covered ground before continuing. “Why do Pathfinders always have to meddle in what doesn’t concern them?”
Pulling out an ancient-looking tome from a pouch, she throws it unceremoniously in the mud. “Fools! All this for a book …” She errupts in laughter. “Bazzak dies tomorrow and you die today! KILL THEM!”

Zzorn joins the prehistoric fray!
Swift: Armored Vigor; Free: rage; Free: draw sword as part of move; Move: towards Blue; Standard: Breaker Rush (Greater Bull Rush) vs. Blue&Green (grants an AoO to Blarg against Blue and Green). If there is another creature in the way of your bull rush, you must immediately make a combat maneuver check to bull rush that creature. You take a –4 penalty on this check for each creature being pushed beyond the first. If you are successful, you can continue to push the creatures a distance equal to the lesser result. For example, if a fighter bull rushes a goblin for a total of 15 feet, but there is another goblin 5 feet behind the first, he must make another combat maneuver check against the second goblin after having pushed the first 5 feet. If his check reveals that he can push the second goblin a total of 20 feet, he can continue to push both goblins another 10 feet (since the first goblin will have moved a total of 15 feet); Free: if Breaker Rush is successful, Breaker Momentum (Improved Overrun) vs. Blue; NOTE: (if Improved Overrun successful, Zzorn keeps moving west through Blue's new square; not subject to AoO from Blue&Green but subject to AoO from Black and Yellow)
Rage, Breaker Rush vs. Blue, Greater Bull Rush: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19 vs. Blue's CMD
GM 4-star shirt reroll: 1d20 + 17 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 17 + 4 = 37 vs. Blue's CMD
Success: bludgeoning dmg vs. Blue: 12 = 12 + Blue moved southwest into Green
Rage, Breaker Rush vs. Green, Greater Bull Rush, -4 penalty for 2nd creature: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 17 - 4 = 22 vs. Green's CMD
Success: bludgeoning dmg vs. Green: 12 = 12 + Green moved southwest as well
Breaker Momentum vs. Blue, Improved Overrun: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24 vs. Blue's CMD
Success: bludgeoning dmg vs. Blue: 12 = 12 and Zzorn moves through Blue's square (target may not choose to avoid Zzorn)
Success Exceeds CMD by 5 or more: target is also prone
@GM: Map updated; I have assumed both Blue and Green were pushed 5 feet southwest with the Greater Bull Rush and that Zzorn succeeded at Improved Overrun on Blue and made him prone (please rectify is some of these checks were unsuccessful)
Zzorn's movement provokes an AoO from Black and Yellow; AC 23 due to rage; HP: 77/77; TEMP HP: 2/2
Jaakko Varpunen |
Jaakko runs forward after Zzorn's bull rush and blasts Lady Riverbane with musket.
+1 musket: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
damage: 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Lauranna watches the action from just inside the cave, engrossed by the action.
"Wow! I wish I had some exploded corn and butter." she says excitedly.
Driskarr |
Driskarr moves into position and casts Frost Fall, centering the spell between the Lady and her pirate henchman(Blue). While Driskarr is running he reaches his hand and and bring's it in tight to his body, causing patches of ice spikes to sprout from the ground.DC:14 Fortitudeor be staggered, and if they haven't left the radius of the spell by my next turn they make another Fortitude save or take 1d6 damage again but are no longer staggered.
Frost Fall: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
GM Valen |
Blarg tears into the pirate as it passes by and plunges prone.
Lady Riverbane feels the chill as does her fallen ally.
Lady Riverbane (black), Fortitude save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Prone Pirate (blue), Fortitude save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Staggered, 5 ft. step
Turning to her pirate ally, she demands, "Kill him!"
The pirate (red) rushes Driskarr and swings her blade as her mistress commanded.
