Evindal shrugs helplessly. "I can throw a bomb at it but I don't think that will help much. Otherwise, I'm afraid I don't know anything about disarming fiery things - it's much more fun to arm them!"

Kalderaan works for a bit and reveals a small set of mirrors. He places them at just the right locations. Feeling confident, he steps in and takes a closer look at the coins. They're more like Fool's Gold. Small stone discs covered with a thin coat of auric paint.

With the trap disabled, you quickly recover the burnt body and return to Dalver.

"Carine..." Dalver holds his grief at bay. "I always told her greed would get the best of her. Even after we stole enough for food, she would always try to get a bit extra." He chuckles grimly. "I'm going to make sure her funeral is a bit extra, she convinced me to become a Pathfinder in the first place." He stands up, slowly, and focuses on the memories of his lost friend.

It doesn't take too long before you find a Pathfinder squad willing to escort Dalver and Carine back to sick bay. He waves you goodbye as he meets the other Pathfinders.

Evindal and Reylar remember the short briefing about ascending stairs leading to an important room, guarded by copper statues. They suggest heading there after a brief break.

Room completed. You have 10 minutes before the next room, so take this time to Treat Wounds and Refocus. We'll start the next room in less than 12 hours from now.

At the far end of this triangular chamber is a stairwell that rises into darkness, flanked by a pair of dull copper statues. A deep feminine voice calls out from up the stairs, “Felise? Is that you?” From the east wall, a glowing purple crack emanates an eerie baying.

It isn't long before the statues come to life and approach you. As the purple crack glows intensely, the statues crumble, reform, and rust before your eyes. Souls of other travelers flow before you, combining into three amalgams of flesh and bone. The statues lie as a pile of rubble.

Time to look at the chamber's carvings and books. Many of the books deal with the Eternity Arch- some kind of magical gateway or portal.

DC 19 Arcana, Occultism, or Society:
You notice subtle differences in the carved figures before and after they pass through the gateway, indicating that the journey changes the traveler, or the traveler’s spirit or mind travels through the gate while the body is left behind. Nearby imagery depicts sleeping or perhaps dead bodies being placed into a deep trench. The lowest levels of bodies in these pits are skeletons.

Much of the literature in this library has been damaged by time, cold temperatures, and animals. Maybe you can make some sense out of it.

You can make a DC 18 Society check; a DC 20 Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion check; or a DC 22 Perception check. If you do, open the spoiler below.

Spoiler:
You learn the remnants of the information in the library mostly detail rituals and artifacts dealing with time manipulation.

The rest of the wall carvings depict a variety of moments in time. Some of them include:

- a dragon rising from a coffin
- a group of people wearing strange attire and carrying strange firearms, led by a slender four-armed man with an elongated cranium
- an underground hedge maze connecting to the ruins
- you and the other Pathfinders fighting off strange doglike monsters
- and a crowd of people bowing before the Eternity Arch.

You can make a DC 25 Society check to identify the creatures in each carving.
