Urwal appears from an adjoining corridor, stepping over the smoking and chopped up robot parts, seemingly unphased that Greezgux still has a robot arm sticking out of his mouth. He gestures ahead. “I saw fire up ahead. Go investigate. Be careful. Be wise.”
After a few twists and turns, the stone corridor transitions into a massive red stone cave. The ceiling collapsed long ago, revealing the night sky, packed with stars, and letting snow and wind into the ruins.
The snow-covered ground is difficult terrain. The ice sheets are difficult terrain and uneven ground (DC 20 Acrobatics check to Balance).
A group of large four-armed warriors approaches in the snow. They are dressed in furs and leather armor, and armed with falchions and javelins. The female warrior that seems to be leading the party calls out to you.
"Kumaad tahay Waxaan maqalnay dhawaaqyo yaab leh, oo waxaan aragnay waxyaalo qalaad. Ma samaysay tan?"
She awaits your answer.

"Did anyone recognize that language?" Chulyin asks. "They have four arms like the skeletons in the pit."

![]() |

Give me a moment .... Patrick replies.
He runs back to the caravan, purchases a Scroll of Comprehend Languages with the last of his gold (12gp) comes back and casts it [if the GM allows this - otherwise he'll have to use his Bonded Item to regain a 2nd level spot, then spend 10 minutes loading a Comp. Languages into it]

GM Hmm |

Any trip back and forth to the Supply Caravan takes ten minutes. What are the rest of you doing in the meantime?

![]() |

Sideon puts out a hand to stop Patrick, and gestures at his wayfinder.
Sideon will cast comprehend languages from his gold nodule aeon stone.

GM Hmm |

Sideon hears the woman talking. "We have come because we have heard strange sounds and seen even stranger visions. Have you caused this?"
Sideon, you can understand the language, but as the spell is not heightened, you cannot speak it. Unless you have a way of heightening it?

![]() |

"They've come because of the strange sounds and noises. I don't think they are hostile."
Sideon sheaths his dagger and holds his hands in the air. He'll tell them in elven that they come in peace.
Elves are aliens, so...maybe they speak elf? :P

![]() |

Oh .... okay ...
Patrick pauses for a bit then tries replying in Elven. He also shows his Wayfinder with the symbol of the Open Road on it.
If elven doesn't work, he'll try Azlanti then Aklo. While he's speaking he's making sure at least some of the party are between him and her.
He'll get the scroll at the next opportune moment then

![]() |

"Having you understand them will be helpful," Chulyin says to Sideon. Using Sideon to translate their responses, he tries to hastily fashion a pidgin language starting with a way to introduce each other.
Whichever skill you think appropriate, but Society would be advantageous over Diplomacy for me.

GM Hmm |

You can still run and get a heightened Comprehend Languages scroll. Zendel would love to sell you one. But the third level one might need to have other party members contribute to the price since it is 30 gold for a third level spell. Or you can try doing the non-verbal.
As Sideon sheathes his dagger, the shobhad woman sticks her javelin in the snowbank. As he and Patrick speak in elven she blinks and turns to her companions.
"Do you understand what they are saying?"
One of them grunts and says, "Maybe they're from Castrovel?"
She switches languages. "I don't speak lashunta. Do you know Akitonian?" She is very confused as Patrick switches from Azlanti to Aklo.
Chulyin's Society (T): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Working furiously, Chulyin tries to get a pidgin together by using repeated words and with Sideon's help.
What do you want to say, Chulyin?

GM Hmm |

At this point, I will allow people to use Diplomacy, Deception or Society to try to communicate in this situation.

![]() |

Patrick waits for Sideon's translation.
Nope. Not elven .. Castrovel is also the second planet from the sun, usually known as the Green Mother or the Evening or Morning Star depending where it is relevant to Golarion. Presumably it is full of elves. What is a lashunta? Their word for elf?
He then switches to Aklo hoping that doesn't freak them out.
He then draws a diagram of the Golarion Solar system in the ground then points to himself then the third planet.

Then she turns to Sideon. "Yoo-Sid-Ee-Ohn, understanding lights your eyes. You follow my words. Do you understand Zaggorn?"
One of her comrades looks at the map of the planets, puzzled for a bit, but the astronomical drawing in the snow is so excellent, he says, "The Child! You are from the Child! Or should I say the Cage? Third world!"

![]() |

Patrick indicates the third world. Yes. Golarion
Patrick then points to the fourth world, which he has marked with something red, then at the newcomers.
Akiton. You?
Castrovel is represented by something green. Verces is a small circle with a vertical line, and the ringed planet Liavara, is a large circle with a diagonal line over top. The others are just circles of varying sizes. Also the sun is a rock with a light spell on it.

GM Hmm |

"Go-la-ri-on. The Cage." The group's astronomer points to Akiton, having clearly recognized the word, Akiton. "Akiton."
"I am Barlog. Why you come to Akiton, Yoo-Pah-Trick?"
Meanwhile, Zaggorn continues to look at Sideon and Patrick, watching as Sideon translates. "Good. One of you understands. Yoo-Sid-Ee-Ohn. Mee Chool Yin. Why have you come to forbidden place?"

![]() |

Patrick is a bit flummoxed on how to answer that without a common language. He then rummages in his bag and gets out a piece of paper and draws two dots near each end, indicating that one dot is Golarion and the other is Akiton. He then folds the paper to make it look like the two dots are nearly touching then draws an arrow between them.
He then looks at Barlog and says. Magic way join planets. Don't know why. Want to fix.
He sort of pantomimes that bit too.

You may all now speak freely with Barlog, Zaggorn and the other warriors.
