Hani Makoa |

Hani attempts another attack on the remaining elemental.
to hit vs. EAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
damage, S: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Well. That's one better than last turn!
Hani angles himself for defensive advantage.
Move action for calibrate defenses, giving him +1 armor.

GM Jhaeman |

Hani's wild swing passes harmlessly above the last elemental.
Meanwhile, Sulphrax responds to Zharis' comment as he continues to squeeze the life out of her! "If one of you have it, give it to me. If it's still on the mummy, fetch it for me quickly!" he says in a commanding voice before looking down at Zharis with something that might even be pity. "For this one has only seconds to live . . .".
Hani's attack misses, and Sulphrax continues putting on the hurt.
Zharis, you take 24 B and continue to be Pinned.
Tail vs Zharis Pinned KAC: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 35
damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 6) + 12 = 24

Zharis |

Zharis collapses, still caught in Sulphrax's embrace, but now unmoving and unable to respond.
I'm at -5 HP.

Jin Goei |

Static Storm Doshko vs. Elemental's EAC: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Electricity damage: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Critical Electricity damage: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Fortitude DC 16 or staggered for 1 round
Jin (hopefully) kills the elemental and moves north towards the villain.
"You will have to kill me to get the tablet. Now draw you weapon and we shall battle." Jin suggests, hoping the villain has some honor.
He also activates his frenzied fighting for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 rounds

GM Jhaeman |

The last elemental falls to Jin's doshko, but Sulphrax responds to the kanabo's challenge. Letting the limp body of Zharis fall to the floor, the salamander raises a deadly-looking starknife into a ready position. "At last, a warrior worthy of killing. I hope."
Jin's crit took out Blue. Now it's on!

Initiative (Round 5)
Zharis (prone, dying)
Xylian
Tulgram
Hani
Salamander ("Sulphrax")
Jin
Bold should go!
@Zharis: You'll actually be at zero hit points (there are no negatives in Starfinder). Unless someone else heals or stabilizes you with Medicine (First Aid) before the end of your turn, you'll automatically lose 1 RP and continue dying. You can instead spend 2 RP to automatically stabilize.

Zharis |

I will spend 2 RP to stabilize.
Freed from the suffocating embrace of the evil snake thing, Zharis seems to breathe more easily, and almost looks peaceful in her unconsciousness rather than strangled.

Xylian Xuuvats |

With Zharis no longer in the clutches of the fiery reptile's evil tail, Xylian is free to use less precise gunplay. He does not, naturally.
Move action to Combat Tracking Yellow. Attack Yellow.
Ice Carbine vs KAC (Ignores up to 4 AC from Cover; Combat Tracking): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
P + C Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (7) + (1) + 6 = 14

Hani Makoa |

Just a few short months ago, Hani would never have dreamt of charging headlong into a fight with anyone, much less a supernatural being like this. With Zharis down, Hani has no choice.
He steels himself and moves into the fight.
He has enough movement to get to the indicated space on the map. He'll attack then.
to hit vs. EAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage, S: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

GM Jhaeman |

As Hani rushes forward, Sulphrax spins around to lash out with his tail, still keeping his eyes fixed on his primary challenger, Jin. Still, the telia manages to connect with a powerful blow!
Sulphrax has reach with the tail, so gets an AoO on Hani. Hani, you get hit and take 17 B. Your attack hits and does some damage, though there's clearly some DR in play. Also, can you just double check that you're targeting EAC? My understanding is that usually weapons that do physical damage (piercing, bludgeoning, or slashing) target KAC. But your attack hits either way.
Tulgram, let's see what you've got!
Tail Slap vs Hani KAC: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30
damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 2) + 12 = 17

Tulgram Coldforge |

For some unknown reason, Google slides do not work for me today on any device, either through the browser or through the app.
Tulgram carefully looks at Hani's blow, then thinks hard, remembering what he knows about such creatures (move action; take 20 to identify; can use Life Science on any living creature; result - 36). In any case, the gray-skinned dwarf did not miss the fact that Hani's blow did not cause full damage. He grunts and a small pistol is teleported into his hand. Try this, ye chatty lizard!
Called Caustoject: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 251d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (acid vs EAC)
- Basic Inhibitor: You reduce the target’s DR by 5.
- Spark of Ingenuity: When using a booster biohack, you can remove one of the following conditions, in addition to the booster’s normal effects: dazzled, fascinated, or shaken. Alternatively, you can add the dazzled condition to the effects imposed by any of your inhibitor biohacks. This effect lasts the length of the inhibitor’s duration
So, it's DR reduced by 5 and it has dazzled condition for 6 rounds

GM Jhaeman |

Tulgram's acidic dart dissolves the top layer of the salamander's scaly exterior, causing the foe to scream in agony!
But it's not enough to dissuade Sulphrax from the fight. "So there remains some spark of will amongst your feeble kind," he says through gritted teeth. "I shall inform General Khaim when I bring him your heads!"
With that, the salamander launches himself at Jin!
Nice! The attack hits, Sulphrax's DR is reduced by 5, and he is Dazzled.
Sulphrax does a guarded step and attacks Jin with his sintered starknife. Jin, you get hit and take 22 P.
Starknife (dazzled) vs Jin KAC: 1d20 + 18 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 18 - 1 = 29
damage: 4d4 + 12 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3) + 12 = 22

Jin Goei |

Jin returns the favor!
Static Storm Doshko vs. EAC: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Electricity damage: 1d8 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 3 = 18
Frenzied fighting round 1 of 4

Initiative (Round 6)
Zharis (unconscious)
Xylian
Tulgram
Hani
Salamander ("Sulphrax") [dazzled]
Jin
Bold should go!
@Zharis: If you choose to, you can spend 1 RP at the beginning of your turn to "get back into the fight" (become conscious at 1 HP)--you'd still be prone and right next to Sulphrax, so there is a risk.

Zharis |

Any way to do a full retreat from a prone position (so as not to incur an AOO?), like rolling/crawling away? ... also, if I rolled into him could I get the damage from my armor touching him as well as any attack damage, or is that cheaty? Not sure what I want to do yet, but that would help me know what my options are. Default, I stay down.

Tulgram Coldforge |

Aye, I know ya! Crew, it's a freaking salamander. A blacksmith and a merchant from the plane of fire. Bring it down with cold who has such a weapon. And I'll punch it in the old-fashioned way, bahah!
The amused duergar approaches and strikes at the salamander.
Merciful Capture Pole: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d8 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 (piercing vs KAC; non-lethal dmg)
There are still some problems with google slides in my region. Please move me within striking distance of the reach weapon. Thanks!

Xylian Xuuvats |

Luckily, Xylians go-to weapon for some time has been a cold weapon.
Move action to Move. Attack Yellow.
Ice Carbine vs KAC (Ignores up to 4 AC from Cover; Combat Tracking, Coordinated Shot): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
P + C Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + (3) + 6 = 12

GM Jhaeman |

The twin claws of Tulgram's capture pole sink deep into the salamander's arm and he screams in agony! Realisation shows in his eyes--the certainty that he will not win this battle. "My death shall be avenged!" Sulphrax shouts. Xylian tries to finish him off, but can't quite connect.
Tulgram's attack *just* hits. Xylian's attack misses.
@Zharis: You can crawl 5' as a move action, but it's not a guarded step and would provoke an AoO. Your armor will only do the electricity damage if you were to grapple him. Sorry, I know this probably hasn't been the most fun combat for you--you took one for the team in keeping him busy for so long!
Zharis and Hani are up.

Zharis |

Zharis remains unconscious, sadly unable to witness the high drama that is going on around her.

GM Jhaeman |

Sulphrax slashes his starknife with wild abandon leaving deep wounds in Jin's torso!
Sulphrax is doing a full attack on Jin. Both attacks hit. Jin, you take 20 P and 23 P.
Attack # 1 (full attack, dazzled): 1d20 + 18 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 18 - 4 - 1 = 32
Attack # 2 (full attack, dazzled): 1d20 + 18 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 18 - 4 - 1 = 24
damage # 1: 4d4 + 12 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 1) + 12 = 20
damage # 2: 4d4 + 12 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 2) + 12 = 23

Jin tries to payback as much as he receives:
Static Storm Doshko vs. Elemental's EAC: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 4 = 21
Electricity damage: 1d8 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 3 = 24
Static Storm Doshko vs. Elemental's EAC: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 12 - 4 = 26
Electricity damage: 1d8 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 3 = 24
Finally two double digits - and full damage in both attacks
Frenzied fighting round 2 of 4

Tulgram Coldforge |

I need ye alive! Don't ye dare die now, snake! - Tulgram bulges his eyes when he hears the words about "revenge for death".

GM Jhaeman |

Jin's awesome blows send Sulphrax flying against the wall. He hits with an audible crack and slumps to the floor, mortally wounded. He groans his final words. "So . . . you have bested me . . . but I am but the tip . . . of the spear . . ." The lights in the salamander's eyes dim, and the brass collar around his neck begins to glow! As you watch, his body crumbles into nothing more than ash, leaving only an empty pile of clothing where the fierce warrior just lay!
An instant later, The Core vibrates and the sound of a muffled explosion can be heard coming from outside. Hop's voice comes through your comms. "Pards, that there ship done blowed up like someone was playin' with matches in a grenade factory! I'm showin' it broadcast an emergency message afore it went--I reckon there could be more of them bad hombres on the way, and maybe we ought to skedaddle!"
Well done! We are off Initiative.

Zharis |

I guess Zharis will spend a RP to get up (1 hp), use her MK 1 healing serum (7 hp see below), and then spend another RP to do a short rest to restore her SP. Does that work?
MK1 heal: 1d8 ⇒ 7
After she is up, she will sift through the ashes to find what is left over of Sulphrax... armor and weapons?
She didn't hear what Hop said, so someone else will have to respond to that, or tell her about it.

Jin Goei |

Didn't we have to fix the ship before leaving?
Jin takes a 10 minutes break to recover stamina.
"Did we collect enough samples and information from this city?"

Zharis |

I think the ship was all good... we fixed it before we started looking around I believe.
Well, from the city perhaps, but there are still rooms we haven't seen in this building. Come to think of it... I'm going to try one of those healing couches.
She lays down on one of the slab things that she had identified earlier as being healing type things... if she can spend her 10 minute rest there, she will... and if it seems to be working, maybe longer.

GM Jhaeman |

Zharis wakes up groggily to realise that Sulphrax has been defeated! She and Jin try to catch a second wind.

Zharis |

Wow, this is totally working. You should try it, Jin. I mean, everyone, really.
Zharis takes an hour to lie on one of the slabs.
Added the sulphrax loot to the loot sheet

GM Jhaeman |

Zharis settles into deep, almost trance-like state on one of the slabs.
Slab: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 8, 7) + 5 = 22

Jin Goei |

"I will wait until scientists have throughly examined it." Jin passes on the opportunity.
"The starship AI warns us that more enemies were warned as the villain perished. We should complete the exploration and return to the ship."

Zharis |

After an hour, Zharis arises, looking way, way better than she did before.
She says Poor Tash, remembering seeing the poor guy from her dream/vision in the hologram the first time she learned what those collars could do.
When Jin tells her that Hop warned them about additional enemies, she calls the ship.
Hop, what's your status?
If Hop seems fine for now, she suggests that they break down the other door out of the slab area (if they haven't done so already while she slept/meditated.)

Zharis |

Tulgram, there is only ash, but do you want some ash samples?
Sounds like Hop is okay for now. Do you guys want to try to get through this door?

Hani Makoa |

"I think we should do a bit more exploration, then head back for the ship."
Hani would have spent a resolve point during this time to heal SP damage.

Jin Goei |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Jin will hit the unopened door at C4 until it cracks open.

Jin Goei |

Are we in a hurry? I thought the enemy ships would take at least days to arrive at the city - and only after receiving the distress signal.
"Can the ship fly itself to pick us up here? Or do we have to track back to it?"

Zharis |

Does anyone have a weapon that would get through more quickly? Xylian... how much damage can you do when you overload your weapon? More than 20?

GM Jhaeman |

Minutes pass as Jin smashes into the door repeatedly with his doshko. At first, it looks like nothing is happening, but slowly a spider-web of cracks appear. Then, after nearly half an hour, he breaks a hole large enough to squeeze through into the chamber beyond!
Near the center of the room is an enormous scale model of Noma. In the city are numerous holographic representations, their meaning cryptic.
Above the city is a holographic projection of its protective bubble, which is slowly pulsing a deep red color. A panel on the base must be the controls; it is missing a component from a slot in its center.

Jin Goei |

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
"This is a live recreation of this city - our ship is in display there." he points at the exact place on the map.

Hani Makoa |

With Jin's information in mind, Hani looks closely at the model. He scans it for signs of a malignant presence that might be after them.
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Zharis |

Zharis says
It seems that some of my dreams while I was healing on the slabs are connecting with some of the things that we are seeing. This panel can be used to monitor Noma, but the recent invaders stole a component... although how they did that is beyond me because we had to break down all these doors. They must have found a way to control them that we didn't.
Anyway, Noma is more vulnerable to solar phenomena without the magitech orb that balanced the system. Nothing we can do though... unless the orb was still on his ship and survived the explosion, which seems unlikely. I do think that Noma is working on another orb somewhere, which is good... I wish I knew more about this place and how to control it though.
She reaches down to pick up the little model of their ship. If it can be removed, she will keep it as a souvenir.
She then checks the doors to the east and south, hoping that they are open and they don't have to go through the amazingly time-consuming and destructive process over again.
