Uhh... Look at the map closely. The boulder Rakesh is on towers over the water's edge, probably about 10'. Are the undead climbing up it? (Try to look at it from a 3D perspective.) There's no way that's a flat slab of rock level with the surface of the water.

GM Watery Soup |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

The scenario doesn't mention anything about differing heights, but that seems reasonable. They will, instead, ready actions in case you move in.

![]() |

I assume the same applies to the one that charged(?) Ansha?

![]() |

"Gah! Living dead coming from the water!"
Rakesh shouts over the roar of the gushing rapids below.
"I shall cross river as quick as possible!"
Rakesh takes a step back on the giant boulder away from the undead and pulls his potion of touch of the sea from his haversack. He pops the cork and guzzles it down. Amphibian-like webs appear between his fingers and his feet elongate into flippers. He eyes the distance of the next boulder, hoping he can make the leap.

GM Watery Soup |

No, in retrospect, I should have just given them a formal surprise round. I've been GMing too much PFS2 and forgot that surprise rounds were a thing.

If both Ehm and Rakesh make their saves: Kit readies an action to cast an DC 16 ear-piercing scream at the first enemy to come within range and view. I figure the ones in the water are hidden from view by the large rock she and Rakesh are standing on - thus the readied action.

If either Ehm or Rakesh fail their save: Kit attempts that absolutely pathetic attempt at disrupting their song. The discordant notes she singes just makes the thing nastier and seems to help rather than hinder the magic!

I forgot about the Four Leaf Clover I bought at the beginning. +2 to any roll!!!
Also, did I take damage from the undead with their axes? I thought I was too high on the rock over the level of the water.

GM Watery Soup |

Not sure why there was damage, I removed it.
The four-leaf clover would give a +2 to your will save, but here's the thing: the clover must be activated before the check is made - "A creature with a four-leaf clover in her possession can call upon an extra boost of luck before attempting a single ability check, saving throw, or skill check." If you're saying the check would have been important enough to have used it, I'm okay with retconning it in. But, in the future, please state that you're using it before you roll (so there's the full chance of (a) using it and failing by more than 2, and (b) using it and succeeding by more than 2.

GM Watery Soup |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 vs DC 16
Kitoro screams in Blue's ear. But it's his bad ear so he only takes half damage.
Sorry if this was unclear - Yellow is prone, and should float downstream (towards the rapids) on his turn. Red is not prone, but moved away (away from the rapids). Both provoke, but Red on Red's turn and Yellow on Yellow's turn. Rakesh slashes at Red as they walk away, unless he wants to hold his AoO for Yellow. You can choose.
Fuzzfoot - I didn't factor in the negative level, but I thought negative level only reduced your maximum hit points (and current hit points by the same amount). If you have negative hit points, it doesn't seem like you should take additional hit point damage.

That's what I understand too. You basically just use a standard for your attack and have a move action to play with.
