PM Fuzzfoot? He hasn't posted since last Friday.
| GM Watery Soup |
As a side note, Fuzzfoot hasn't posted for a week and a half, and I haven't heard from him by PM or E-mail. He's a GM in a game I'm playing, and while he's made a short post or two during that time, that game appears stalled as well.
I'm not putting him on the tracker for this combat - we'll deal with any issues at the end of the scenario with the assumption that an emergency has come up in real life.

Ok. No problem. I hope he's okay.

I had a short discussion with him. RL issues has him buried at he moment. He's trying to get on top of it. But maybe not any time soon.

Please let him know that we all understand and hope he'll be able to rejoin at some point in the future.

Totally hoping Fuzzfoot's player is okay!
Don't worry about my cold-iron arrows. They're my "normal" arrows since they're so inexpensive. It's just nice that once in a while they will overcome a creature's DR.

I'll take that bear's endurance. Will need to figure out how many rounds after tapping wand of lead blades & other buffs all of this took.
Sorry. 72 degrees & barely a breeze here in the Colorado Rockies is rare at this time of year. Basking in the sunny sun right now...
A nice slow burning warm fire in the firepit after dark in Colorado now. And still too hot.

So Hardness 24- Adamantine(20) = still leaves 4 hardness, so that will take some work to chip away. But with enough buffs, 2-handed and power attacking, hopefully enough. Otherwise, Roderick is useless except to fly around from the waterfall side, but that will take way too long.
And I drove from central Florida with 81'F to Kentucky this morning and had to scrape windows 30'F. :)

Good question - I thought it brought the hardness down that much, but the wording, is odd, as you stated.
EDIT: I saw one post - unofficial - stating it is all or nothing. So Adamantine would be ineffective against Hardness/20+
Ehm Sven Nien

Yeah, I can't find anything official and I see posts with it both ways. All-or-nothing or it ignores the first 20 points of hardness. So I guess this is a GM call. I'm ok with either.
However,
"...Like any other stone wall, this one can be destroyed by a disintegrate spell or by normal means such as breaking and chipping. Each 5-foot square of the wall has hardness 8 and 15 hit points per inch of thickness. A section of wall whose hit points drop to 0 is breached. If a creature tries to break through the wall with a single attack, the DC for the Strength check is 20 + 2 per inch of thickness..."
You sure that was the hardness and not the break DC? Just checking. He might have been given a special version.
| GM Watery Soup |
I'm sure it's the hardness, but I think I spot where the discrepancy is.
It's 3 inches thick. Does it have hardness 8 for every inch of thickness and 15 hit points for every inch of thickness; or does it have hardness 8 regardless of thickness, and 15 hit points for every inch of thickness?
Kitoro

The latter makes more sense. It shouldn't become harder just because it is thicker.
For example, on Mohs Scale, diamond’s hardness is 10 (1 is the softest and 10 is the hardest grade). It doesn't matter if it is a small diamond or a large diamond, the hardness is the same. Hardness is measured based on the type of substance, not the amount. Technically and logically speaking, of course, which is quite different than RAW at times.

It would seem if Rakesh bashes at the wall, for every 15 points of damage he does, he breaks through a 5' square an inch thick. He'd have to continue until 3 inches are broken through.
Rakesh Manidhar
|
Well, after reviewing this page, it would appear the wall of stone blocking our way would have hardness 8 and 45 hp (15 hp per inch of thickness).
It has hardness 8 regardless of thickness.
After doing 45 points of total damage, the wall is breached.
Putting on the 4 star GM & VO hat, this is how I would rule it.
| GM Watery Soup |
I'm open to the latter interpretation if that seems more appropriate (regardless of what's realistic). It actually does seem more appropriate to me, especially if adamantine doesn't slice through it (which I didn't realize).
I'll confess I was a little concerned that hardness 24 seemed high from the beginning. And when someone pointed out adamantine wasn't going to do anything, I seriously considered retconning.
Edit: Posts crossed. Let's go with hardness 8.
Rakesh Manidhar
|
Since we need Rakesh to break through the stone wall, should I just quick-time a few rounds of attacks until I hit 45 hp of damage?
There's the possibility of me getting a crit to do double damage.
Or average it as taking 3 or 4 rounds to breach?
Kitoro

damage goes to 2d6 and +3 more from strength - assuming two handed 2d6+14?
Why +3 more from strength? Enlarge Person only adds 2 to the strength which would give a +1.Or are you factoring in the inspire courage?
Roderick Xim

Right - assuming 2H but I was thinking it added 2 lol - probably from usually using bull str
| GM Watery Soup |
With the wall broken, I assume this fight will end in your favor very quickly.
1. The end of combat is not the end of the scenario, there are some pretty important things that happen afterward, so please stay engaged.
2. I can't find Ansha's and Fuzzfoot's information in this thread. I can copy over your information from 4-06 if nothing has changed, or you can post it now.
3. For those that played/GMed this scenario before, please note (I think some of you were surprised at the end of 4-06) I'm going to throw in a little extra in at the end of the scenario here to dovetail it to 7-03, our next scenario.

Kitoro, you gave your information before, so I used your previous Day Job roll.
Your Chronicles are HERE. Please let me know if anything needs changing. Also, let me know if the black and white bothers you - I accidentally had the "greyscale" button checked when printing them, I didn't realize until I had uploaded.
If you're continuing onto #7-03, you can check in HERE. If you're not continuing, please let me know so I can fill your seat with recruitment.

Ansha is Slow Track for XP, but it looks like you gave her 1 XP/2 PP. (Looks like she was given Slow Track gold, at least.) Could I get that corrected?

A revised Chronicle has been uploaded to the same folder.
Also, Ansha's and Rakesh's PP have been adjusted on the Paizo reporting site (I put both in at 2 PP when I first reported).

Too bad 8-02 is a tier 3-7 or I'd request it for this mini campaign.
Thanks a ton for GMing again. I'll get my end of scenario post up after work tonight.

Wow! Lots of nice boons on that chronicle.
Chronicle looks good.
Thanks again, Watery Soup and everyone else! See you all in the next game. I'll need a couple days to update PC sheets & profile. Sunday or Monday to start would be best for me.
P.S. Aaahhh! We forgot to unleash that primal water elemental gem! That probably would have bashed through the wall of stone pretty quick!

I always like to be able to forge some sense of continuity in the PFS, so I appreciate it too.

I'm holding this thread open until I confirm with Fuzzfoot (a) that he has the Chronicle and (b) whether he will join us for 7-03 or not.

Sorry - I am so behind these days! I would love to continue, but I had better bow out here. I am afraid I would just keep slowing you all down.
BTW - chronicle looks fine, thanks again for the game! Good luck all, and have fun!
| GM Watery Soup |
Best of luck Fuzzfoot. If you find yourself with extra time in 5-7 weeks, PM me.
I'll close up this campaign, but I'm available by PM or E-mail or the 7-03 thread.
