You are ruining the storyline. If you have been a part this campaign before you should bow out. You don’t notice the lighthouse because it hasn’t been activated yet!

You've looked through some of the smaller ruins in the Otari hinterlands but have never quite built up the courage to check out the creepy lighthouse called Gauntlight. You've heard that these ruins are pretty well picked over, and mostly collapsed, but you always planned to some day explore them and perhaps find some bauble left behind from the centuries-old battle where the Roseguard slew an evil sorcerer. You know that the crumbled stone of old ruins has a tendency to shift, so you'd better step lightly if you get the chance to explore Gauntlight.

I am curious GM where I have made an error. I have not played this before, this Adventure is fresh to me. I am unsure if you are kicking me off - I'd like to express interest to continue, and am sure whatever mixup we have can be straightened out.

Fine, just run with it. I'm not restarting over a 3rd time. If we don't hear from the ranger sometime today, she will just be left out. We're not waiting on anyone. This is the person that wanted to restart this in the first place.

I didn't read your background, so that was my fault. The story writers really screwed the Game masters with this background though. I do have idea on how to fix this, so role play this as is.
I don't wish to kick anyone from the game, especially ones that actually post.
I flagged your last post in game play for removal

Hi I'm here! Had a very busy couple days and didn't remember to check to see if the gameplay thread was back up.

no worries, I just want to get this underway

Lets say the dog is a Kotosi Pointer

Quick question, in regards to my Ancestral Feat, Bright Soul, since it is, in essence, a permanent, innate Light cantrip, can it be slightly concealed with a thick, hooded cloak? Kind of like a hooded lantern vs a bullseye lantern? ie. my face directs it out like a cone, the cloak preventing it from being a full radius?

If not it's cool, just wanted to check prior to actual combat or exploration encounters.

Kortosi do you mean? I like that!

Yes, thats what i meant to write

The light will still show through any fabric, but i believe where the fabric is open it would work normally kinda like a flashlight

Let me know when the conversation is complete by all party members

Having pledged his service, I am fine to move forward with the scene. However, I wanted to point out to Hammid, that while Jhereg isn't doing the crushing grip thing, it is a firm, strong arm clasp, hand to forearm, squeeze, type deal. But there is a definite heat you can feel that close to his bare skin. Not painful, but noticeable ...

Has anyone other than Hammid chose an archetype I thought I asked this already, but I want to have this information before we get to any battles

Are we playing with the Free Archetype rules? ie. We get a free Dedication at 2nd level, and every even level thereafter?

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Oh are we? I thought we were just doing Ancestral Paragon. I'm definitely down to do FA though.

Wait, we're doing Ancestral Paragon too? I'm so confused!

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Ah yeah, it was in the old thread:

You may add the paragon rule to your character sheets

Dammit, now I'm torn between Natural Ambition (Raging Intimidarion) or Ember Eyes for Low Light Vision lol. I'll see if we're doing Archetypes too before I decide.

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

I'm always a sucker for Natural Ambition, it's a lot of why I end up playing a lot of humans (at least as base ancestry), I just love class feats lol.

Incidentally if we do FA I'm going either Scout or Medic, maybe Herbalist, depending on what others do.

Regardless of Free Archetype, I'm going Sorcerer (Dragon) and Dragon Disciple,if we're using FA rules, I'm just able to do it quicker and fill out some Barbarian feats in the early levels.

Yeah, I read up on the rules and thought with what you’ll be facing you might need extra advantages. Archetype only though

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

OK rad. Looking forward to seeing what's so scary about these combat encounters lol.

I understand the archetype rules, but am a little confused about paragon rules. Is it just extra feats gained or more than that?

Male CG Human, Ifrit Dragon Instinct Barbarian 1 | HP's: 22/22 THP's: 0/3 | AC: 16 | F: +7 R: +4 W: +5 P: +5 | Spd: 25ft | Active Effects: Light, 20 ft radius (Brightsoul); Rage (Draconic) | Conditions: None.

Ancestry Paragon rules are here.
Basically you gain two Ancestry feats at 1st level, and you gain an additional Ancestry feat every odd level afterwards, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, etc.

Free Archetype rules are here.
Basically at 2nd level you can take a Free Archetype feat, and at every even numbered level, you may take a Archetype or Dedication feat, if you meet it's requirements, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, etc.

So to clarify we are *not* using Ancestral Paragon, but *are* using Free Archetype?

Go ahead and use both. It might make for even more interesting character builds. I can always upgrade the encounters if I need to.

I just need to know what additions you are using at 1st level.

Male CG Human, Ifrit Dragon Instinct Barbarian 1 | HP's: 22/22 THP's: 0/3 | AC: 16 | F: +7 R: +4 W: +5 P: +5 | Spd: 25ft | Active Effects: Light, 20 ft radius (Brightsoul); Rage (Draconic) | Conditions: None.

I was going to go for Low Light Vision, however, with Bright Soul I emit light as a Light cantrip at all times, so no need for Low Light ... so I will be taking Natural Ambition (Raging Intimidation) ... which allows him to use Intimidating Glare while raging.

Also, Scare to Death but that's beyond the scope of this game, sadly ...

If we can make it through this AP, I may be running this at levels beyond 11th

You can't take a Dedication at 1st level, it's at 2nd level,in addition to your 2nd level class feat.

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Would it be a Society check to see if Dhruva remembers anything she might have heard about the sorceress or the Roseguard?

(On the assumption that it is, I rolled an 18+1 for a 19 total, just need to know what level of success that is).

The sorceress isn't knowledge you would really know much about since it's been so long ago, but you would know about the Roseguard since they were the founders of Otari. Otari was named after the rogue that was killed in the now ruins. The mayor is a descendant of Aesephna Menhemes the party cleric and the blacksmith is a descendant of Vol Ranjani the party's fighter.

I’m placing the ruins 3 miles from town. The campaign placed it 20 mins. Camping out the night is up to you as a group though

Male CG Human, Ifrit Dragon Instinct Barbarian 1 | HP's: 22/22 THP's: 0/3 | AC: 16 | F: +7 R: +4 W: +5 P: +5 | Spd: 25ft | Active Effects: Light, 20 ft radius (Brightsoul); Rage (Draconic) | Conditions: None.

So it's about an hour or so out of town, I'm fine with camping. What's the current season? Should we bring tents, or would bedrolls suffice?

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Oh that's pretty close, good to know. Could still be good to have things set up so we can go in at first light, though, so we have a good amount of time to explore before it gets dark out.

Snag likes sleeping in a real bed and suggests we just wait until morning and then go explore early.

heading into late summer

Pup tents and rations sounds good, does anyone have any other ideas for things we might want or need?

you'll probably have someone on watch so only 4 of you will sleep at one time.

I'm going to create a group inventory page where undivided items will go

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Oh hey, speaking of inventory pages, I lost the link to access the OneNote sheets, can you resend? I messaged you on Sunday but didn't get a reply.

i resent you the link. look in your trash or junk mail. for some reason that's where it goes.

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

I'm glad that we took some time for background and introductions, but I'm excited to get the adventure underway! :D

What marching order will you be in? And what is your chosen skill?

Jhereg will likely be behind Dhruva, I'm going to take the Scouting exploration activity allowing us to gain a +1 bonus to initiative in our 1st combat encounter.

Female NG Human (Versatile) Precision Ranger 1 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 | F: +7 R: +9 W: +5 P: +7 | Spd: 25ft | Hero Points: 1 | Conditions: None

Dhruva and Dia will be up ahead. Although I don't have the Scout archetype until next level, I think it's most appropriate if Dhruva is the one who Scouts!

For the skill, do you mean the skill activity? I think it would be Survival (Sense Direction).

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
