"Grandsire's ghost help me," Gath swears when he misses again. He ejects the spent cartridges, and feeds two fresh ones into the magazine.
Uchurtai
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 2
Uchurtai keeps on shooting at his last target, his shot not quite as dead-on but still respectable.
"You should've run when you had the chance!"

All of you fire off a hail of gunfire and other attacks at these two Ikeshti. Though battered, they fight on. They both step forward, again brandishing their flashlight or battery.
The northern one attempts to push his flashlight into Sen.
to hit, jolting surge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

The second one pushes the attack on Locket.
to hit, jolting surge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
damage, E: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 5) = 15
You guys have been pretty lucky. I don't think my murderous ikeshti are long for this world.
Bold may go. Round 3.
1. enemy blue (-17)
2. enemy red (-12)
3. Uchurtai
4. Locket (-15)
5. Zetara
6. Gath
7. Janebok
8. Sen
Locket Alyara
Very lucky, indeed! If Locket was actually a feline, I'd say he definitely used one of his 9 lives to be still standing (at this point in time) after rushing in there the way he did.
Having felt the sting of the ikeshti's battery, Locket says a silent prayer to Desna when the fiery swirl of his kusari-fundo obfuscates his assailant yet again.
Deftly spinning the flashing orb in a wide arc above his head, Locket directs the momentum of the weapon in his foe's direction (Blue) before spinning away once more. (Guarded Step)
Kusari-fundo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Fire damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Zetara
Oh, look, is that a goblin?
Bluff: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Zetara shoots again.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 (Against flatfooted if the bluff worked)
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6) + (4) = 10 (Subtract the 1d4 roll if the bluff failed.)
Sadly missing.

shobhad horizon striker, tactical: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 ... damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 (critical -; Analog, sniper (500,) unwieldy)
Gath sends another shot over the ikeshti's head and into the wreckage behind it.
"Arrgh!"

Sen spins her board again to try and flash-fry the remaining foe.
"STILL TOO SLOW!"
Zoomboard Thrusters: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 ⇒ 5

Janebok's needle does indeed finish the remaining ikeshti technomancer.
The two ikeshtis have the following equipment that you may salvage: 2 suits of freebooter armor I, 2 survival knives, and one arc pistol with a full battery.
Both ikeshti are wearing some sort of holy symbol.
A quick look around the general area near where the ikeshti were torturing the khefak turns up the harmonic coil that Murkk needs.
Zetara
Zetara starts gathering up the loot, taking a look at things as she goes along.
Mysticism: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 (fail)

Ah, found the harmonic coil! Perfect.

And you found something else interesting too, if you'll check the spoiler.

Oh, sorry... :) I guess it didn't click but I thought it had and I thought that last harmonic coil part was the spoiler. Whoops.
Oh, and look! Is this a brown force field armor upgrade? Nice!

Senkuviene shrugs.
"Only god I really know anything about is Accelsys. These things kinda look like skulls with chains in the eyes, though, so whatever deity it is is a lateral mucker!"
Ah, found the harmonic coil! Perfect.
"Huh...that was easy. Should we leave before more of them show up? They may get p*ssed that we smoked some of their fam. Unless the whole reason these coves were out here is cause the rest of the Brood didn't like them. Muckers who torture animals tend to not have a lot of friends..."

Gath is on the point of applauding Zetara for fimding the coil when he hears Sen.He turns to face the shirren.
"what's that, Sen? That sounds like Zon Kuthon. He's not a nice god. If the Unbrood are a Kuthonic gang. I'll bet none of them have friends."

Uchurtai, too, shrugs, "No idea. Looks metal though."
He raises the pointer and pinky fingers of two of his hands, a common gesture among shobhad raiders. (And metalheads...)
GM Quirk
Murrk and Qesch are pleased to see that you have recovered two out of the three parts that are needed to construct the key to get through the force field surrounding the Stellar Flare.
Should you tell them about killing the two ikeshti, Qesch merely shrugs. "I knew those two cloaca-heads. They deserved it."
Murrk looks at you all and reminds you that there is one more item to complete the key. "You know where to find it!"
You have some halfway decent gear to divide up. This includes the two suits of freebooter I armor, the arc pistol, and the brown force field generator mentioned above. You might also remember the items found at Zethelred's camp:
Zethelred’s lockbox contains a spell gem of junk
armor, a spell gem of junk barricade, and a spell gem of junk
restraints (see page 58 for these and other junk-related spells).
A light rubbish cannon (page 57) is propped against the vesk’s
bed, and a suit of golemforged plating II hangs from an armor
stand next to it.
Finally, I would like to inform Gath, Sen, and Locket that they may level up! Zetara, Janebok, and Uchurtai, the three of you will be leveling up soon. As a reminder, Gath, Sen, and Locket did some adventuring with me before we started Junker's Delight. I think that I will have all six of you on the same schedule for leveling after this. SO, new equipment and three of of you are now level three. We'll see if you have have a better shot at that junk golem now!

Janebok nods as the others sum up the Ikeshti. "Sssadissstsss are bessst ended sssooner rather than later." She looks through the salvage and considers. "Perhaps I could use these spell gems."
Gath of Akiton
"We should figure out how we're going to do this. My ribs still hurt from when the golem hit me."
Bigger map should help. Thanks, GMQ. Janebok's earlier plan to spread out is a good one. The golem seemed to attack whoever had hurt it last. If true maybe we could make it waste time bouncing back and forth between us. I think I remember that it seemed to have some DR? Is that right? If true, everyone would need a decent ranged weapon for this approach.
Zetara
Can anyone use this rubbish cannon? Do you think it would hurt the junk golem or just make him stronger?
Locket Alyara
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Locket sniffs in derision. "Don't like hurting anyone. But those -" he looks at Qesch and snorts. "- cloaca-heads had it coming."
"Might be worth us taking some time to rest up and come up with a solid plan before heading back to face the golem," he suggests.
Are we in a position to a long rest if anyone needs one? I'd at least like a 10. min rest to get some SP, but a few of us are down HP that might benefit from some healing/potions?
Locket wrinkles his nose and shakes his head as he scans the collected gear. "No idea about most of that stuff. If nobody else needs it, I wouldn't mind that blaster to replace the one I left behind. And been finding this isn't like the Academy out here and my armour could maybe use some reinforcing."
Tossing my hat in for the arc pistol and Freebooter I armour sweepstakes.
Edit: I like the suggestion of spreading out and hitting from range.
Zetara
Zetara agrees that they should rest and plan.
Yeah, it didn't seem to be hurt at all by small attacks... only really big ones, so we need to hit it with things that hit really, really hard. Does everyone have something like that? I think my sniper rifle will work, but nothing else I have would make a dent. That seemed to be the biggest problem.
Senkuviene
|
Sen's antennae sink.
"That's kinda the problem for me: biggest boom I can make is with my zoomboard thrusters...and that means getting up close and personal like a null-unit. I *tried* to do the hit-and-vapor-trail thing, but it's got long grabbers..."

I definitely vote for a full night's rest or 8 hours or whatever. We're going to need all our spell power. Before resting I've got I've got 1 cure light (1d8+2) , and my healing touch (10 hp). The touch description specifies, 'an ally'. What's overnight hp healing look like? Who's down HP?
Gath shudders at Zetara's suggestion that the junk cannon might just make it stronger.
Got to take that idea seriously. Maybe try it in an early round after we put a little hurt on the golem.
"Grandpa's gun is pretty good. I hurt it with my first shot." Gath rubs his ribs thoughtfully.
"Hey, Sen! Any chance you can look golems up in the infosphere?"
More complete intelligence would be a good thing. Gath's got 500 credits that could be tossed toward improving someone's weapon.

"Do we need to damage it?" Locket asks, turning his large bright eyes to his companions. "It's not like we're after the golem."
"Maybe we can locate what we're after and some of us can lure it away and keep it busy while the others grab and run?"
I don't recall whether we saw the item in question on our last visit?
Edit: Just saw Gath's post. I agree. Locket is down some HP if you have some healing to go around.
Also, if there's a chance it could get stronger from the cannon, does that mean stuff that effects items or junk will effect it in a negative way, too? Anyone have any junk abilities? Just picturing tearing off some of its plating to use with Junk Armour lol

Nobody recalls seeing the item you are searching for last time you were there. It may be very difficult to search while the golem rampages around. BY THE WAY, I am headed out of town for a day to visit family. We will continue Sunday night.

Sen's antennae does the shirren equivalent of a raised eyebrow.
"You think we're gonna get infosphere signal? Out HERE?!"
Despite her skepticism, she whips out her comm and checks to see if she's got any service.
Janebok the Cold
Janebok considers what information she has on the golem. "From what I know already, we will be sssomewhat prepared. But further information is always useful."

Make a computers check, followed by a engineering check. The computers check will determine whether an inforsphere signal can be found. The engineering check will determine what you find out about the golem above and beyond what you already know.

Nice Sen! I probably don't even need to try after those but I like dice.

Yep! Just rolling virtual dice for fun. XD

Gath: I grant you the power to roll ONE REAL DICE on your next roll. On your honor, you may report your results.
Sen, somehow you are able to tune in a halfway decent infosphere signal. Moreover, you find an obscure bit of information about these so-called junk golems.
You may ask ONE question. Keep in mind the things you already know about it.
Senkuviene
|
"Chek-chek, lateral!" Sen exclaims. "I actually got a signal! And found some info!"
What question do you folks recommend I ask?
Zetara
Maybe special abilities. We already know to stay ranged and that it has DR... if there is something special it can do that makes all of that even worse, it would be good to know I guess. :)
GM Quirk
The golem has construct immunities. I'll give that to you for free. You can see the details on this HERE.
Furthermore, I think I will make this easy for you and give you what is probably the most useful piece of information: the golem is immune to magic. Here's details on that, along with a couple of interesting exceptions:
Magic Immunity (Ex) A junk golem is immune
to any spell or spell-like ability that allows
spell resistance, unless the spell specifically
targets constructs. In addition, certain spells
and effects function differently against the
golem, as follows:
Magical effects that deal acid damage
slow (as the slow spell) the junk
golem for 3 rounds (no save).
If targeted by a spell with a Target entry of “at least 1
bulk of inert electronic equipment,” the golem becomes
confused for 1d4 rounds. It attempts a Fortitude save
(against the spell’s DC) at the end of each of its turns to
end this condition.
We will commence with initiative tomorrow. You all know where this thing is, so if anyone want to sneak up on it and get a surprise round, feel free to make a stealth roll and position yourself up to your base movement speed onto the map (and get a single action for the surprise round, assuming your stealth is high enough). Anyone who doesn't want to risk that will begin initiative on any square on the west, south, or east edges of the map. You may prep with any spells, abilities, or items ahead of time if you wish.
Zetara
Zetara wants to go set up on a rock with her sniping rifle, so I just moved her to a spot closer to a rock to start out with.
Janebok the Cold
Hmm. I genuinely don't know if the acid bit means acid damage bypasses the spell immunity? In PF 1e, it calls out that fire damage bypasses magic immunity for ice golems.
Locket Alyara
No stealthing for me.
Also, did we end up resting/healing? And dividing up the gear?
