Gava moves to Zone 10. Chamon, with help from his passengers also makes it to Zone 10. The tide floods the area you started from i.e. Zone 7.
So far so good.
Chase Scene - Phase 3 - Action.
Khubelu |
Khubelu notices some debris in the undercarriage, so flips her malleable hydrobody under the vehicle and washes the dirt off.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Finding that her bio engine Engin is having a bit of trouble handling the mixture of gasoline, Seggas decides to alter the composition of the gas tank on the fly with some extra nutrients for Engin.
Physical Science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Gava Son of Emer |
"Yeeeehaaaaaw!"
Gava speeds up to zone 12, avoiding the trap on zone 11: Piloting to speed up DC 19: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 + 4 = 28
The klikharp looks out the buggy, bewildered.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Maybe we would go faster if we dumped some dead weight," Cha'mon Cha'mon says as he turns to look at Morvruul.
Piloting (Speed Up): 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 4 = 22
Morvruul the Merchant |
"Maybe we would go faster if we dumped some dead weight," Cha'mon Cha'mon says as he turns to look at Morvruul.
"Bail out, if you wish," Morvruul shrugs. "I am more than qualified to take control."
Morvruul waves a pair of arms as his hands on the other pair try to seize the wheel.
Piloting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Sturmvanger |
"To the left! To the left! The mud's firmer over there!" Sturmvanger shouts out assistance from the back seat.
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
phaeton_nz |
And since Zone 12 is where your ship is, Gava and the contents of his buggy are safe. Maybe Seggas altering the fuel mix had something to do with it.
As for Cha'mon Cha'mon and his crew, there seems to be a mutiny in progress but they barely make it out of Zone 11 as the tide starts to swamp it. They too are safe.
There are cheers over your comm channel as you all make it in, coming from Kyefi's classroom as they had been monitoring the situation via satellite link.
Kyefi then wants to know how it went as you buckle down and lift off just before the tide laps over the plateau your ship was standing on.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Wait is area 16 not the landing pad? Huh.
phaeton_nz |
ooops --- yeah .. I noticed that ... too late ... Besides, we're supposed to be done in four days
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Whelp, I guess it's time to get out of the 'game store' before they 'lock the doors' on us.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"What are you doing. Take your hands off the steering wheel. Nobody likes a backseat driver."
Cha'mon Cha'mon, fights to keep control of the buggy as the clearly batty Morvruul makes a play for the steering wheel.
Gava Son of Emer |
Gava would've aced the piloting anyway:
Piloting to speed up from zone 12: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 33
Piloting to speed up from zone 14: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 2 + 4 = 29

on the way back to Absalom Station you receive a comm from a blocked number. In a cryptic message, a modulated voice requests you stall for an additional week before turning Datch’s passcodes over to AbadarCorp. If asked to identify themself, the caller responds only with “no name,” but explains that they’re an anticorp activist looking to take the megacorp down a peg. They assure you that this delay will make the corp sweat without hurting Pact World residents.
Do you agree to this or not?
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
OOC I would love to see it, In Character... I'm conflicted.
Seggas looks over to Sturm
Khubelu |
<If this mission were more urgent, the Society would have sent a different team to each location. I believe delaying the release of the keys would be appropriate.>
Pretty sure I know who this is from a later scenario.
Gava Son of Emer |
"I don't take no orders from no names. If they weren't up to no good, they wouldn't be scared to show their faces. I say we take this to AbadarCorp sooner, and tell them all about this so-called activist!"
Gava doesn't like shady business
Sturmvanger |
Sturmvanger returns Seggas' look.
It seems he will allow her to speak for them both when their decision is made.
Morvruul the Merchant |

Morvruul absolutely agrees!
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" laughs Morvruul. "It would seem that games are afoot and we are dealing with schemes within schemes!" This I can use to my advantage!

"I am not scared to show my face. It is a cultural tradition!"
Morvruul doesn't know how to do any business other than shady business
phaeton_nz |
I agree - it would have been interesting if Cha'mon and Morvruul fighting for control had resulted in the buggy tipping over - which would have resulted in an automatic fail. I'm not sure there are rules to cover that eventuality - opposing piloting rolls I presume - which would have reduced your changes of success
Khubelu - yes
Morvruul - yes
Gava - no
Cha'mon - ?
Sturm - ?
Seggas - ?
I'm going to start preparing your Chronicles. This decision only affects the reporting
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
"I completely disagree with Morvruul. We can't make decision based upon a unsolicited communication. In fact we have no idea who this communication came from. It could have been from one of Datch's collaborators."
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Seggas gives a sigh as this whole thing seems to rest on her decision. "On the one hand I don't trust this isn't some final ploy from Datch, but I also think this is a mission there'd be more teams on if time was that important. I say we delay, and hope that this doesn't end up being a bad idea..."
Gava Son of Emer |
"Did AbadarCorp steal your lunch money when you were infants of something? You want to purposefully damage them for an unknown entity, for no good reason - it could be a cultist of the devourer, corpse fleet member or a rival megacorp on the other side of the message and you blindly trust them? I'll be reporting this to our superiors, the society has got to start a better screening process before picking up members!"
Gava doesn't care for the anti-corp mentality, belonging to a successful family enterprise himself.
Khubelu |
<You needn't worry about my report being inaccurate or incomplete.>
phaeton_nz |
Game reported
So ... a week later than expected, you reach Absalom Station. Fortunately that is enough for the keys to be used, just in time to avoid the lockout.
Mission completed - Chronicles to come
phaeton_nz |
Thank you for playing.
Khubelu |
Chronicle looks good.
Thanks, everyone, for a great game, especially phaeton_nz for running!
Gava Son of Emer |
Gava is level 3, so his credits should be Out of Level.
phaeton_nz |
Yoicks! Should be fixed now.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Thanks! The chronicle looks fine!
Morvruul the Merchant |
Thank you all for putting up with Morvruul and for a fun run!
Chronicle looks good, GM! Thanks for running!
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Morvruul, was such a unique and fun PC to play with. His whole inner monologue shtick had me laughing every time. Any chance I can get Cha'mon Cha'mon in another PBP game with Morvruul?

That would be awesome! At last, an archnemesis! I have only played Morvruul in PbP games (which allows for lengthy internal monologues) and repeatables (so I can use my "meta" knowledge to keep his antics from throwing the scenario too off track).
Fortunately, Morvruul levels up with this chronicle, so he is now available to play higher level repeatables. I have yet to play the following with Morvruul:
1-16 Dreaming of the Future
Although I always had in the back of my mind that he was the mastermind behind a certain party of mercs...
2-10 Corporate Interests
2-19 The Truthkeepers
3-11 Into the Veskarium
Let's keep any eye out in Castamir's Flaxseed Station for any offerings of one of the above.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Cha'mon Cha'mon, would be a perfect archnemesis for Morvruul, just like Seinfeld and Newman. Actually, I love the way Morvruul will go on rants just like Newman.
I'll keep him available to play in scenarios here on Paizo. Maybe we can put a request out for a GM to run one of those repeatables. Cha'mon Cha'mon, needs two more XP before he gets to level 3 and then he gets XP from an AP that will take him to level 4.
phaeton_nz |
I suppose I could set up a run of one of those as I'm still looking for my third Star Nova.
Anyone else interested in any of the above?
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
I'd be down for running Seggas through another game with Morvuul. I forgot to have her hand over something with her contact details on it at the end there. Depends on Sturm whether we could play or not. She's not going to leave him alone.
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
Dreaming of the Future would be level appropriate for all of us.
I have no idea what Seggas and Sturm have been talking about since Cha'mon Cha'mon is not telepathic so I haven't read any of your spoilers.
There are also several level 1-4 scenarios available amongst the season 4 SFS offerings that I haven't played.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
That works for me. Also I personally have no problems with you reading the spoilers, it's mostly just back and forth banter about things, as long as it doesn't bleed into character actions, it's harmless.
Morvruul the Merchant |

I had forgotten about 4-01 Year of the Data Scourge as another possible repeatable for Morvruul.

Morvruul has found an archnemesis and a potential partner (with her own sidekick)! Perfect!

That would be great and much appreciated!
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
I like not knowing what is said between you two, feels more in character.
Gava Son of Emer |
I'm tapping out - trying to get some free time to start GMing a table of Junker's Delight and/or Abattoir 8.
Sturmvanger |

I prefer "Henchman," thank you very much.
I try not to play things I've already played but, that being said below is the list of things I haven't played from the list Morvruul presented -
1-25 The Beacon Code Dilemma
2-10 Corporate Interests
And because it can be hard to grab 2 slots, I'm definitely interested in playing anything where Sturm and Seggas can play together.
(Also, I don't mind if people read Seggas' and my telepathic exchanges.)
phaeton_nz |
Cha'mon Cha'mon |
That one is a level 3-6, Cha'mon Cha'mon is still level 2. We can do Dreaming of the Future or some of the season 4 level 1-4 scenarios.
Seggas Yakan, DVM DMD |
Oop, I didn't check the level. Seggas and Sturm are also both only level 2, we can't do one of the 3-6 tier games.
phaeton_nz |
Dreaming of the Future then?
Morvruul the Merchant |
Dreaming of the Future then?
Works for me.
