Free of the song, Abella shakes her head and promptly makes sure to not acknowledge the fact that she just was rendered useless temporarily.

She moves closer and blasts two of the psychopomps 1 and 4 with her electricity.

Shade starts by checking to see who is still hurt after his healing burst. He will treat anyone still wounded.

Malevolence

With the corrupted nosois taken care of you take a closer look around the room.

This seems to be an area where Ioseff and Asethanna showed off their accomplishments and displayed them here. Signed Letters, commendations from House Thrune, paintings, and hunting trophies as well as sculptures of devils, animals, and Queen Abrogail I make up the bulk of these objects. Phaedra and Abella both recognize distant family names among the mix.

Unfortunately, everything has been defaced in one way or another.

From the iron fence below comes the sound of nosois singing. Perhaps they sense their corrupted members have been sent on.

Spiral stairs lead up to the observatory.

Let me know when you're ready to go up!

The spiral stairs lead into an octagonal observatory, although the room appears to have been torn apart long ago from a violent search or perhaps a long, drawn-out fight. Which is not a surprise to Pavo.

A desk and chair in the northern part of the room seem to have escaped this violence, as did a five-foot-tall, one-foot-wide mirror of dark glass in a frame made of wood. !!!

But other pieces of furniture, shelves, and books lie scattered through the rest of the room. A pile of rubble near the south walls appears to be the shattered remains of what might have once been an observation platform.

At the room’s eastern and western sides, gears and chains look like they once allowed for the retraction of the roof above, but the mechanisms and chains to the east lie in rubble.

Several strange skeletons lie strewn about the place; these long-dead creatures appear both humanoid and bat-like.

The whispered word Hatred… is telepathically broadcast into your minds, as the rubble to the south stirs. A large scorpion-like creature with large claws and milky white eyes on the joints of its legs scuttles out. Craters, like burst blisters, cover its back.

The creature extrudes a writhing tangle of ectoplasm from its burst blisters and the ectoplasmic strands lash out at everyone! DC 25 Will save from all as the ectoplasm tries to strike your brains!

Seven ghostly phantom brains then begin to glow and shimmer where the blisters once were!

Brainlash DC 25 Will Save:
Critical Success: The creature is unaffected.

While not able to identify what it is, based on what they've seen, the use of ectoplasm, the phantom brains, as well as some of the creature's apparent immunities, Abella and Pavo think this creature is undead!

Malevolence

Shade hits the creature with his spiritual starknife, and the strange monster immediately absorbs three phantom brains, growing even stronger!

GM:
Phantom Brains: 1d4 ⇒ 3HP: 3d8 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) = 15

As the party moves to leave, the alien crab continues to attack!

It bites and claws at Tuco, although it really wants to get to the cleric who hurt it last.

Jaws: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 Is Tuco in Mountain Stance?
Piercing: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14 Plus Mind-Rotting Toxin

Mind rotting Toxin DC 25 Fortitude:

I think this will take Tuco down again.

Dying 1 again?

Tuco is in stance this time so AC 22. So the first attack misses, the second two hit him for 28. Tuco was at 49 after getting soothed and battle medicined so should still be up at 21 hp

Shade sustains his spell, to try and get another hit on, but does also try and get out of the room by running down the stairs.

Tuco raises his shield, concentrates for a moment and flees down the stairs.

AC24, 8 hp back from wholeness of body.

Phaed waits at the base of the stairs, making sure everyone got down afe. I wasn't running. I was leading the retreat.

Female

Abella quickly drains her arcane bond and animates another ghoul--Gil 2--to block the stairwell.

Three actions to cast animate dead

Gil 2 begins snapping at the creature.

Malevolence

GM:
Phantom Brains: 1d4 ⇒ 3HP: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12

Gil 2 takes a bite out of the monster, as everyone else flees down the stairs.

The creature immediately absorbs its final two phantom brains, growing stronger, and chomps Gil 2 to pieces.

Jaws: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
Piercing: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (7, 10) + 8 = 25

All will know death... It whispers in your minds.

It scuttles angrily at the top of the stairs but doesn't follow.

Out of combat!

Pavo slumps to the floor as the psychic venom continues to eat at his brain. He seems within an inch of his life, but suddenly, the fog in his head clears. It leaves only the ringing headache. "Ow. We're going to need a better way to exorcise that thing."
