"Who knows? All we found is a buncha muddy tunnels an' stinky lizards. But there's somethin' bad goin' on down here. A blind man could see it."

"C'mon, you guys get in the boat with Lorelei and paddle across. Me and Spirit'll scout ahead."

"Let's go, Weasel!"

Mheenah goes invisible again and flies across the water to the far side of the cavern.

Sorry, pretty hectic weekend, will get up a post this morning…

The hermit furrows his brow, concerned about their course of action. ”Before ye go, if ye be a believin’ the naga is nearby, ye need to be wary; Eh do not be a knowin’ if she has the ability to see invisibility. This likely be a spirit naga with the ability to charm with her gaze; hence her gaining so much control over others in Orlane, so ye’ll need to be avoidin’ her eyes. Eh be havin’ a spell that can overcome this charm…but Eh only be a havin’ one so Eh got to save it for the right time…and if ye be a runnin’ off without me, if ye get charmed, Eh won’t a be able to help ye…”

If y’all still decide to scout ahead, and just let me know how you’ll approach if you see the naga…

"Oh, are you saying you're coming with us? Do you want to get in the boat? More friends are always welcome!" Spirit declares.

The hermit huffs. ”Ehv course, Eh’ll be a comin’ with ye, Eh was just a sayin’ Eh couldn’t help if ye be scouting ahead…so ye’d have to be careful with the naga’s gaze, that’s all…”

"Fine, we'll take the boat." huffs the quasit, who is clearly annoyed at being grounded. "No sense scouting if I have to do it with my eyes shut."

She settles on one of the rails of the flatboat and begins to pick at her toe claws.

We’re approaching the end of this journey…if you have any buffs/healing you’d like, now is when you’d want to cast/enable them…I’ll give you a little time to respond before posting as things will escalate pretty quickly from here on out…

The hermit climbs into the boat with you, grabbing an oar; you move/row steadily through the water, wondering what you’ll soon see…

If we're pretty certain we're about to face the naga, Mr. Pitch will cast bull's strength on Lorelei.

Mheenah and Lorelei are ready.

Pretty sure they’ll be facing the loathsome naga soon, Mr Pitch casts a spell making Lorelei stronger; soon after, the old hermit asks you to gather close around him as he speaks some words you don’t understand…

He then says, ”It be more likely this snake lady will charm one or more of ye…Eh can probably dispel this effect, but Eh’ll likely await till more than one of ye are affected as Eh can only do it once. Eh will stay back and keep me eyes averted otherwise…”

Then you turn the corner and see where the water ends and what awaits you…

Sorry for the mini-cliffhanger but I can handle the map better for this when I get home this evening…

"Oh, wait, I can help with that!" Spirit declares. One by one he goes between each member of the group, waves his tail, and taps them.

I remembered he has hallow from the fate sphere, which blocks out charm and compulsion effects. He's burning four spell points on doing this to everyone.

Spirit casts protection upon his companions just as you come into sight of a large alcove that looks more like a throne room than your normal cavern…

Explictica Defilus looks imperiously as your boat approaches, a large snake body with not an unattractive face; you can barely make that she is coiled atop a collection of her favorite treasures, as well as many skulls, most likely of her most hated enemies…

The naga bares her teeth in an evil smile and then with a quick nod of her head, fire flashes and a large fiery ball heads straight towards the boat…

Fireball: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 2, 6, 2) = 17

…but as you brace for impact, the fire breaks apart and fizzles out, as if it the fireball hit an invisible barrier…

The hermit gives a quick wink, murmuring, ”My meager contribution…Eh might no be a bein’ much more help to ye…the rest be mostly up to ye…”

Explictica laughs maniacally before announcing, with a voice that rings throughout the chamber, ”Good, finally a challenge…you’ll be a good addition to my collection…they’ll go well with the skulls of your masters!”

Lorelei bounds out of the boat and lunges to attack the naga.

"What have you done with my boy!?!" she cries out furiously.

Mheenah delays to let the wolf go first, then flies behind the naga and attacks, biting into her scaly spine.

Bite: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 2 = 23Damage: 1d4 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) - 1 + (6) = 6

The wolf’s zeal over her boy causes her to lose focus as her bite misses badly…

The naga gives a downright evil grin at the wolf, laughing as she taunts, ”The little boy? A tasty morsel…he was delicious!”

Her grin turns to a snarl as Mheenah’s teeth grab a hold of the serpentine back, making a minor tear in her scales…

”Vicious little imp! I’ll have you skinned to make a nice cap for your mistress’s skull!”

I know Mr Pitch usually hangs back to begin with but, just in case, I’ll wait till this evening before posting the naga’s action…

Mr. Pitch flies a wide arc over the water, keeping an eye on the proceedings both to search for the naga's weak points and to keep an eye out for other dangers.

The Raven sees no other danger present, nor does he see any obvious weaknesses…

The naga flashes her vile glare at Mheenah, then, quick as a whip, her venom dripping teeth strike quickly at Lorelei…

Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

…but she only hits air as she misses badly…

Mheenah spits out the naga blood and shakes her little head.

"Blech! Lady, you taste like crab juice!"

"Yeah, we're going to stop you mean naga lady!" Spirit declares as he waves his tail for another spell.

Casting tug fate, which is the one that gives us +10 when we roll a 10 and her -10 when she rolls a 10, and once per round flips a 1 to a 20 or a 20 to a 1. Note that the naga can make a Will save DC 15 whenever it triggers on her to avoid the effects.

Mr. Pitch continues to stay out of the conflict, watching the naga...

He's building up for his combat insight ability

Lorelei rips out a small chunk of snake meat with her teeth but all of Mheenah’s attacks miss the mark, her first claw barely failing to connect. Meanwhile Spirit casts a spell and Pitch observes closely…

The naga sneers at Lorelei, hissing, ”Can’t you figure it out, he’s in my belly,” before looking against at the quasit’s attack wondering how she avoided being charmed…she decides to take bite outta the ‘imp’ this round…

Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

…but she hisses again, this time in frustration, as Mheenah easily avoids her teeth…

If we wanna get technical, Spirit cast his spell before Mheenah acted, so her natural 1 would have become a 20, and her 10 would get a +10. But I realize that's a big ret-con, so I leave that to GM discretion.

"What kinda name is 'Explictica' anyway? Sounds like a skin condition."

Spirit flicks his tail, and one of the oars from the boat sails over to whack the naga.

Crit damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

"Yeah, you're a snake, so you'd be all fat and stuff if you'd eaten them!"

Mr. Pitch continues circling, noting the patterns to the way the naga moves and attacks, readying himself to join the melee.

My bad, Q, I overlooked that and I should’ve factored it in; instead of a retcon, since only one of Mheenah’s attacks hit this round, I’ll just say all hit to make up for missing those two in the prior round…that has been a very useful spell for y’all…

While the naga’s taunting appears to have Lorelei off-focus as her bite misses, Mheenah rips more chunks out of Explictica with both claws and teeth…

And as Pitch continues to study the naga, Spirit sends an oar smacking hard upside the snake lady’s head…

The naga laughs again at Lorelei and then at Spirit. ”You don’t believe that my dear or you wouldn’t be fighting so poorly…and as for you, little weasel, that boy was so small he wouldn’t have added anything to my fine frame, he was just a tasty little morsel…”

Her laugh turns to a painful hiss though as she feels the impact of Mheenah’s attacks and Spirit’s oars. ”You annoying little gnats! After I make a fur coat out of your friend, I’ll let you see her boy firsthand…in my belly!”

She then takes a bite at Lorelei…

Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Damage+Poison: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11

…and its fangs pierce into the wolf, injecting poison…

Need a DC16 Fort Save from Lorelei or she takes 1d4 ⇒ 1 points of CON damage

I'm chuckling about how often we've been rolling 10's and 1's... XD Do note that the naga gets a DC 15 Will save to resist having 10 subtracted from her roll.

"Nuh-uh!" is Spirit's eloquent rebuttal. Well, that and another oar-whack.

Mr Pitch dives in and pecks at the naga's eyes.

Thanks for the reminder on the saving throw…looks like no harm, no foul as she makes the save by the skin of her teeth, so the damage to Lorelei stands (but she easily made the poison save)

One of Mheenah’s claws gets past the naga’s defenses, raking her back, along with Lorelei’s bite taking off a few more scales…

Spirit’s oar just misses this time, but Pitch gets in a minor peck at the serpent’s eyes…

Explictica hisses loudly, then takes another bite at Lorelei…

Mr. Pitch also continues to attack, though he finds no reason to voice a rebuttal to such a patently ridiculous statement.

Spirit’s oar goes awry this time but Pitch’s peck slightly scratches Explictica’s eyelid…

The naga regains her composure for the present and strikes viciously at Lorelei…

…and her fangs once again penetrate the wolf’s fur, injecting more poison…

Clearly reeling and barely staying up after Mheenah’s claw and Lorelei’s teeth reek havoc on her, Explictica wavers, hissing, ”I’ll take one of you with me…”

She lashes out at the wolf again…

Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16

…ripping into the wolf, causing her to lose consciousness…

Mr. Pitch darts in to heal Lorelei.

Spirit actually snarls (as much as a ferret can snarl) as he hurls the oar at the naga this time.

Unfortunately anger does not make for good telekinetic accuracy.

Lorelei's eyes snap open with the healing spell and she lunges upward in a desperate attack at the naga's throat.

Bite: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 25Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

Mheenah waits for the raven to heal Lorelei, then attacks once again!

As Lorelei regains consciousness and immediately rises to her feet to attack again, Explictica reacts as the wolf stands, screaming, ”NO! YOU WILL JOIN ME IN DEATH!” as she bares her fangs and strikes at the canine…

AoO Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10

…but her bite misses its mark, and Lorelei chomps heavily on the naga’s throat, not letting go, and is qpswiftly followed up by Mheenah’s teeth making a bloody mess of Explictica’s face…the vile creature hisses in pain, followed by a weak whimper as its eyes glaze over, as it drops with a resounding thud to the cavern floor…her body shudders once and then moves no more…
