Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry has arranged for the PC’s transport to the pirate haven of Port Peril to make contact with Free Captain Stella Fane and negotiate a contract with her, facilitating Society movements through the pirate blockades in the area. The job seems simple: track down the the pirate captain, secure the agreement, and then return to Absalom. But few things are simple when a den of villainous pirates is involved, and it's unlikely the PCs will be able to leave Port Perilous without throwing a few punches in a proper pub brawl!

1. Four seats are reserved - one for Blackocatto, one for Professor Plum, one for Farol, and one for cmlobue. Two seats are open.

2. Posting expectations are standard - 1 post per weekday, 1 post per weekend. Please note: I dislike "botting" characters (acting for players because they haven't posted for 24+ hours), especially for short quests.

3. This quest is repeatable, meaning that a player can play it multiple times for credit, but each character can only play it once.

4. Recruitment is not first-come-first-served. I will leave recruitment open for at least 24 hours (Wednesday morning US Pacific Time) and select from the applicants then. New players and low-level characters will get priority.

5. To apply, please make sure your character information is filled out, and make an in-character post telling your favorite pirate joke.

Verdant Wheel

Hey @Gm, thanks for running this. I will bring my rogue to this.

The profile is mostly up, There is still some purchase that needs to happen. I would appreciate it if we could start next week as now I am still on vacation.

A favorite pirate joke? I don't think I know any. But my favorite pirate movie scene is Jar of dirt from Pirates of the Carribean

- This is a Jar of Dirt
- Yes...
- Is the jar of dirt going to help?
- If you don't want it, give it back
- No
- Then it helps :D

Envoy's Alliance

Hello everyone. Signing up my Oracle of Flames, here. Planning to go Vigilante with her, so she'll be undercover as the Carnelian Signet when on duty. Everything except her story is in the profile.

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything is one of my favorite tropes. They don't steal, pillage or do anything pirates actually did. They just claim the title and try to look cool.

Should have checked this before, but Port Peril Pub Crawl was where my one odd XP came from, so I will need to decline. Keep me informed for the next quest, though, and thanks.

The young goblin steps in line, waiting behind Rawiri and Issil, rocking back on his heels. Deciding between the two, he looks back and forth and back and forth, he finally settles on the rogue "You longshanks teach Briney to Pirate?" Analyzing the halfling's "look".

What does Briney know about Pirates? (Keen Recollection): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

"Briney know pirates..." Ripping a piece of cloth from his sleeve, he ties it around his head, blocking both eyes. Testing out his new "vision", he walks a few steps before stumbling over "Hmm..." pulling out his trusty dogslicer, he pokes one hole in the headstrip, and places it back on his head, but instead of one eye looking out, he accidentally pokes his nose through. "Not yet" he hands the piece of fabric to the GM "Hold that - Briney still thinking"

Finally he reads the sign, skipping the first four instructions ("Never was good at that"), arriving at: "5. To apply... pirate joke."

Thinking here, he says "Knock Knock!"

Who is There?:

"The Joke"

The Joke Who?:

"The Joke is:" taking back his one-eyed scarf from GM, Briney places it around his head properly this time "Why did Pirate's dull dogslicer not work?"

"What?"

Spoiler:

"Briney finish joke if picked!"

Horizon Hunters

Any seats still open? I have here an elf scout from the wintery northlands who has a lot to learn about the world.

Um, a pirate joke? We don't really have pirates in Irrisen, but here goes nothing... Ahem, cough. How much did the pirate pay for his hook and his peg? An arm and a leg! Eh? Eh?

Envoy's Alliance

Alright, Issil Talfae (and the Carnelian Signet) are all set.

Why did the pirate take so long to learn the alphabet?

Spoiler:
He spent 2 years at C.

Issil and Endra can check in to Gameplay and Discussion.

Briney can check into Gameplay and Discussion only if he finishes the joke first!

Envoy's Alliance

Briney rolls on the floor laughing at Endra's joke!

"An arm and a leg!"

He nearly runs out of breath when he hears GM's joke!

"2 years at C!" Incidentally, that is all of the ABCs that Briney remembers...

He can barely console himself, and his recovery is slow and drawn out.

Before he finishes his joke, he says "Wait. GM no guess? Guess!" then he spins on Rawiri and Issil "You longshanks must do Joke too! Sign says!" wondering why the rules are disproportionally applied to him!

Is it because he's a goblin!?

I give up.

Because it needed to be sharrrpened?

Envoy's Alliance

"Oh. Briney like that!"

Once again, the goblin can't shake the giggles, and rolls on the floor laughing.

"Ok ok. But no. Because is Cutlass!"

When nobody laughs immediately here, the goblin looks around lifting his eyebrows and shining his face "Get it? Eh? Like, no Cut!"

After a few moments of trying to goad reluctant, forced, and/or politely awkward laughter, Briney reads the room and takes his leave "Briney go look in shipyard for make Briney Surprise!" dashing out of the room before the first tomatoe flies...
