That sounds good. You can roll for cure either place. I figure you'll get yourself back in fighting shape sometime during the day's travel to Drenchport/the Eye of Abendego.
I don't mind you narrating the meeting. Getting all the behind-the-scenes bits set up for two entire armadas is taking a lot out of me. It's going to be significantly larger and more involved than what's in the official write-up. XD

Fair enough. I wanted to give you the option of setting up THIS scene, but wanting to avoid the risk is perfectly valid. XD
Sweet! It took a little bit to decide, I feel like if it was just Elek he would have rushed into the storm. But now, as a leader of others, he would take how the others felt or behaved into consideration. It seemed like the lords would leave themself a way out if things went bad, so he played to that. Not wanting to ask too much more from them than they were willing to give.
He'll be aboard the 'Filthy Lucre.' with the SKELETON ANCHOR attached. The skeleton crew will be sailing the ship, so the human crew can focus on the cannons and fighting.
mmmm I need to adjust his page with the new gear. I'll do that and get a post up in game in a few.

Robert Henry |

Sort of a vain question, is 'glamored' one of the Armor Special Ability for an armorist? I didn't see it on the list, but I wanted to ask. I don't picture him walking around in mithril plate :)
Still working on the post, I was redoing his magical items to reflect wearing the 'Sea Coat' instead of carrying the haversack.
edit:LOL, I went to look up what enhancements the armor had presently and it's had 'Deathless' this whole time... probably should have remembered that before now :)

Robert Henry |

I appreciate your patience this weekend, both here and in Usawoti's game. We've been out of town both friday and saturday and playing catch up today. I'm hoping my unfamiliarity with high level fights using magic doesn't make me look too stupid. Not sure Elek can do much different than he normally does :)

Robert Henry |

I should have asked this last night, so I'll try and get up a post and sort out the differences later.
I'm showing Elek at AC 36 with a deflection bonus of 4 from the ABP, in the post you didn't count the crit because the 36 didn't hit. The only extra spells beyond that is the hounds magic circle against evil and (hopefully) aid. The aid doesn't add AC and the 'Magic Circle' adds a deflection bonus. Are you letting me stack the deflection bonus? If not the third attack hit.
Also, since the magic circle is 10 ft, may I assume the devils are not summoned, but actually part of the attacking fleet?
Edit: Hmmm, not that Elek would know that would he.... so nevermind, unless you feel like sharing :)

Your Benevolent Dictator |

I typically let enhancement and deflection bonuses from spells stack with ABP. Otherwise the Enhancement and Protection spheres have base abilities that are completely useless.
Elek wouldn't know the answer to your other question, but he would know that it's very strange that the Chelish armada appears to have sailed through the Eye of Abendego with absolutely zero negative effects. If Sandara was with you, she may have had some information regarding the flavor text when the armada appeared. XD

Robert Henry |

Yes, the spell will last for 17min. Make sure you're familiar with everything it does; it's a fairly complex spell. XD
True, I've read through it a couple times, I should make a sticky note with the info on it.
I'll review it again and try and get a post up after dinner.

Robert Henry |

Whew! That took a while. Calculating damage that round was ... complicated. XDLOL, Glad it's a lot of math for both of us :)
It's currently a severity 4 wind.Cool, that's why I asked about wind earlier.
Currently wind category 2, but it'll increase as you sail closer to the storm.I hadn't realized it had increased, but wouldn't the Hurricane crowns "Once per day, the wearer can control winds (as the spell) in up to a 700ft radius around him." Let him control that? If so, is that a standard to activate?
So the Quick shot hit her, but did no visible damage? All of your shots hit - but only one hit the intended target. XD
Admiral: undamaged
Fortitude DC 18 vs fall unconscious (unless you can breathe underwater). Will DC 18 vs treated as under a medium load.
Unless he rolls a one he make the saves, but would the 11th lvl Feat: "extra arsenal trick:" Movement: Breath underwater, allow him to bypass the roll?

Your Benevolent Dictator |

HERE'S the information about the Hurricane Crown's wind control. As it's a spell-like ability, activation is a standard action.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was an error on my part. I misread your post and thought the quick shot was directed at the hellknight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As long as you're wearing your armor, that arsenal trick makes you immune to that ability. XD

Robert Henry |

Despite already being wounded, the admiral's bodyguard remains upright as all five of your shots strike her. She even manages to utter a terrible curse towards you before collapsing. (she had multiple Guardian talents, if you were curious)
I just figured she was tough. More curious about the curse.
I know this is a rookie question, but with magic circle against evil it says "All creatures within the area gain the effects of a protection from evil spell, and evil summoned creatures cannot enter the area either." Does that literally mean, evil summoned creatures can't enter with in 10 ft of Elek? Ahhh it also says "You must overcome a creature’s Spell Resistance in order to keep it at bay (as in the third function of protection from evil), but the deflection and resistance bonuses and the protection from mental control apply regardless of enemies’ Spell Resistance." So Elek has to 'overcome' the summoned evil creatures 'spell resistance' to keep it at 10 ft?

Your Benevolent Dictator |

That would be the unwilling shield spell you barely saved against. XD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -
Yes, if a summoned creature with the [evil] subtype tries to move within 10ft, it will be unable to do as long as your spell resistance roll is successful. If the creature doesn't have spell resistance (like a summoned Hound of Tindalos), there's no roll required. Two caveats: ranged attacks are unaffected, so a summoned Erinyes devil can still shoot you. Also, the spell only applies against summoned creatures. Called creatures (like the majority of the devils in this battle) are unaffected.

Your Benevolent Dictator |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

She weighs a fair bit more than 90 lbs, so you'd be overloaded.
A character can lift as much as double his maximum load off the ground, but he or she can only stagger around with it. While overloaded in this way, the character loses any Dexterity bonus to AC and can move only 5 feet per round (as a full-round action).

Your Benevolent Dictator |

You as well. We had a nice day, and the wife gifted me a limited-edition Acererak miniature that I'll have fun painting. XD

Robert Henry |

Your blasts destroy the wheel, meaning the Dominator can no longer be controlled. It will continue along its current course until your wind stops it.
Well that was easier than I expected...
So now the question becomes how to push it off course. He obviously has the wind from the crown. He can summon wind from the cannon and use a standard each round to concentrate on it. Would the two combine? So if he called a level 4 storm are the two together just a level 4 or would it be higher?

Elek Kardforgató |
True, speaking of the entire fight, how is the rest of the fleet doing? we're they able to disperse? I'm sure it would at least be confusing if the dominator continued on a straight line if the enemy is dispersing.
I'll get a post up soon. Figure I'll try and push it out of its formation.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

As the descriptions I've given imply, your armada overall isn't doing well. An individual Chelish warship is stronger than a Shackles vessel (with the exception of Arronax's ships), and there's another factor in play that you've been overlooking. You also haven't really been communicating with the rest of your armada or taking the named NPCs into consideration. While most are "generic pirates," a few captains have special qualities that can make an impact. You also have quite a bit of unspent Disrepute. XD
Essentially, a battle of this size isn't won by simply defeating a couple captains. There are multiple objectives that need to be completed - three, in this case. Defeating Admiral Thrune was one, and you're currently working on putting the Dominator out of action, but there's one more objective that's absolutely critical.

Robert Henry |

Sweet, will some of the third become more visible once I either deal with the captain here or move to the other parts of the fleet?
Yeah, I totally forgot about disrepute.... hopefully it's not too late.
Also, the command to disband and make them chase, would that have been able to be passed on? I know they use flags to communicate, but hadn't put much thought into it.

Your Benevolent Dictator |

The third objective has been visible since the very beginning of the battle. It's the thing you've been overlooking. XD
General commands like that can be passed on through flags, but you can also use your sending stones to relay specific instructions to specific people - assuming you distributed them before the battle, of course. XD

Robert Henry |

I've got a light headache, chills and a cough the worst thing is my brain is mush, I'm on the good medication, So hopefully this will pass. My wife and mother in law seem to be doing ok, no temperatures or low oxygen, but just weak.
My mom has both covid and pneumonia and when she swallows she aspirates, so she's in the fight of her life. Her numbers are stable she's on oxygen and four medications, and their trying to keep her comfortable. But it's too early to tell how she will do.
Honestly I'm trying not to think at all,,.. that's why I haven't posted. Sitting here watching the Barbie movie with my wife and her mom. I'm surprised how smart it really is :)
I figure I'll get a post up when the movie is over and my wife is putting her mom to bed.

Robert Henry |

I think I've mentioned before that because I miscalculated bonus progression back at the start of the campaign, your feints are almost always going to succeed on anything above a nat1. XD
I was thinking with a template there's no guarantees. I'm glad you enjoyed building the captain, no Suprise he does a ton of bleed damage. I started thinking of the different items Elek may be able to use, then I remembered I gave several magical items away. So I have to go look at the list he still has, and the best way to use them.
I slept better last night, hopefully it means my brain will be less foggy.
