I'm doing pretty good, still a little stuffy and coughing, but more like a cold than pneumonia. Today was the first day my brain really felt clear. My mom was moved from the hospital to a nursing home, she's off the oxygen, but still has pneumonia, so she's not out of the woods yet.
I didn't even realize the stormlight archives has minis. I really enjoy the series. It's one of the few series that I'm actually getting the books, instead of borrowing them from the library.
Well, enjoy being back at work. My wife 'went back' today, but she worked from home, we still have her mom with us. Once she get's through the covid meds and stops coughing we'll get her back to her own house, until then my wife will work from home.

HERE are the Stormlight minis. They aren't available for retail yet, as they're still shipping to Kickstarter backers. I was lucky enough to be in the first shipping wave. XD My other Christmas gift was nice hardcover versions of the books.

Nice figurine of Kaladin. I've gone the same direction, buying hardback instead of paper. It used to be it didn't matter, just get what was available. But I've started reading more from the library so if I'm going to get books it will be ones I want to add to the library, not just read. Normally I'll hint I want those for birthday's or christmas, and my wife and daughters know most of the authors I want to 'collect' It's a fairly short list compared to the ones I read.
So have you read the books and just getting hard cover versions or have you not read them?

Looking at other possible melee attacks:
Light Weapon, 1d6, 20 x2 P
1st Enhancement bonus: Human Bane
2nd enhancement bonus: Attack action deals weapon damage + 1d4 DEX damage (Fort DC 11 + your CHA modifier halves). It's an attack action to use, so no full-attack shenanigans or augmenting with a Destructive Blast. XD
If he uses the 2nd enhancement bonus, it would be the attack action. But he could use the feint and feint attack as the move action or an aoo. I doubt if it will be hard for him to his a Fort DC 17.
Still looking at less used options.
I think ranged attacks will do the most damage still, but when he closes if I can hit him with something, it would help.

Sweet mine too. I've read "night angel trilogy' and most of Sanderson's stuff (I've not read all the mistborn stuff or some of the stand alone things, but I've read a lot of them) I think I've read everything Butcher has published. Harry Dresdon is the only wizard I read on purpose and I got the second book of the Cinder Spires series for Christmas.
I'd add Joe Abercrombie to that list for me,

Robert Henry |

I reserved the The Black Prism by Weeks, sadly my library doesn't have Stackpole's "Riyria Revelations"
With Abercrombie I recommend starting at the beginning with 'The Blade Itself' it's the first book in the first series. All of his 'adult books' are set in the same world.
I can do a little 'high magic' just don't thrive on it :)

The first book is "Theft of Swords," if that helps. I also mistyped: the author is Michael J. Sullivan.
reading 'Theft of Swords' now, if feels like the writer was a GM and turned his world into a book. Hadrian and Royce feel like the two types of characters I like to play: frontliner of Rogue. So having a good time so far. (I'm about a fourth of the way in, just met Esrahaddon)

Your Benevolent Dictator |

They're inspired by Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. Having seen the types of characters you like to play, I figured you'd enjoy them. All three books in the series are excellent.

The Revenge is around 1.3 miles south of your current position.
Which sounds like a lot until you remember that a fleet battle is measured in leagues. XD
hm present fly speed is 60 ft a move action so about 62 rounds...
Need to think a little.
Edit: I've not done the math, but that may be longer than the whole time he's been fighting...

As per your orders, the Shackles ships have spread out. This makes them harder to target, but as an individual Chelish warship is more powerful than an individual Shackles vessel (with a few exceptions), they're still struggling.
So with them chained, would the chelish fleet be able to go after more than one ship at a time, or at least in ships that fled one direction? It feels like being chained together that they would be hard to maneuver. Maybe I'm just imagining it wrong.
I mean it doesn't really matter I guess, I'm just trying to picture it and having difficulty.

Robert Henry |

Sandara replies. "Geryon rules over Stygia, the fifth layer of Hell. It often takes the appearance of a twisted knot of serpents. If the chain does, in fact, come from Geryon, there's no way for us mere mortals to get rid of it."
So does the chain look like a twisted knot of serpents? Or is it more 'chain' looking. Just trying to decide if it looks like it could communicate. At this rate the options seem to be going to talk to the serpent chain, or flying back to the ship to ask for more help.
Edit: I'm also assuming Sevenfingers's sea coat ability to use dream council means that the wearer of the coat and the person their speaking with have to be asleep as per the spell?

Robert Henry |

Sorry about all the questions, just not at all coming up with anything. If I thought the chain was sentient I'd go talk to it, if I can't sort anything out I'll end up back at the revenge talking to the npc's.
So the chain, does it seem to be emanating from any one ship? Like it might be an extension from something inside the ship?
The Dominator continues to slowly drift away from the fleet. Abrogail's Fury, however, appears to have reentered the fray under the command of one of the lesser officers. As for the mysterious chain binding the Chelish ships together, it appears to have grown thicker - despite remaining insubstantial. Each time a Chelish ship is rendered inoperable, its chain vanishes. The linked ships, however, move in eerie precision, unaffected by the winds you've conjured.
When the Dominator' began to go off course did the chains release it or are they still attached?

Apologies for the short posts, by the way. I had a little free time at work. XD I'll just give a quick reminder that you don't actually know whether or not this is even an infernal contract - much less if it has anything to do with the chain. Elek just found a creepy scroll and immediately started trying to destroy it. XD

Short posts are fine, it's not like I'm posting a lot of details either. Ran to check on my mom at the nursing home and then to the grocery store. Still befuddled...
'whether or not this is even an infernal contract' that's not even funny....
Ok, need to rethink this....
Half tempted to start torching the helms on all the ships :)
Edit: Did the creepy scroll have a signature in blood?

Two natural 20s, nice!
Your barrage sends Admiral Thrune to the Boneyard. Her soul, however, will be heading to Stygia.
paizo's website was acting up so bad last night and I was trying to get a post up. I didn't realize until this morning when I was thinking about posts, that I hadn't even checked the rolls.
I'll get a post up after I've had a cup of coffee or two.

Robert Henry |

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling great, don't push yourself, we're not in a hurry. So:
The serpent chain is gone! As you blast the helm, you can see that the Chelish fleet is now being buffeted by winds and rocked by waves. They're struggling to maintain their tight formations and are much slower to react to the actions of the Shackles ships. The odds have shifted in your favor. The question is, how best to capitalize upon it?
Can Elek tell about how many Chelish ships there were in the formation, or how many of his original armada is left? I need to think a little about it, I'll get a post up in the morning.
Need to decide between trying to capture ships, rescue pirates and get the enemy to surrender or ruin there ability to prevent being boarded. Obviously he could capture one ship at a time, I don't know if that's the best route.

Robert Henry |

Sweet, that will help, he'll return there and start giving orders to be sent to the fleet, I have an Idea I think will work. I'll start it in game and explain more here so you can get a better idea.
I need to head to the nursing home and check on my mom, I'll get a better post up later.
After catching covid and Pneumonia at Christmas my mom went from the hospital to the nursing home then back to the hospital. Now she's been back in the nursing home for 'rehab' for ten days. I still have no idea how good of shape she'll be in when we bring her home or when that will happen. It feels like everything's up in the air. I'm trying not to stress out about it, but I'm there at least a couple hours a day, feeding her at least one meal and checking to see how the physical rehab is going.

Robert Henry |

Crap I forgot to look at disrepute, be right back...
Edit: Hmmmm, I'm liking Summon the Serpent! (cost 25): One sea serpent comes to the aid of the PCs' ship and serves under their control for 10 minutes before disappearing back into the deep.
Last question, I'm working on my post and will get it done tonight or in the morning. I thought somewhere you said about half the pirate fleet was gone and about a fourth of the chelish fleet, is that about right?
For numbers later sake the original count was: the chelish: Forty-seven warships in all
Elel had 54 ships under his command in addition to the Revenge and the Filthy Lucre - a sizable armada.
