Then she returns with the rest of the party.

Dusk is beginning to fall on Kayajima, lighting the clearing in a sunset glow. The spires and walls of Kayajima Fortress cast long shadows across the expanse as Kukuha dons a ceremonial cap and sash and stands at the center of clearing, eyes closed. She performs a brief series of gestures with a feather fan before sinking to her knees and thrusting her talons into the earth.

A low rumble sounds, and the earth shakes. From the northeast, tendrils of golden energy ripple through the air like gusts of wind. From the southeast, waves of azure light flow across the ground, like the ocean crashing against the shore. And from the northwest, lines of verdant energy snake like roots through the earth. The energy trails dance toward Kukuha, gathering in larger and more vibrant swaths and forming a dome around her.

Suddenly, a loud droning hum emits from the statue at the wall. The etchings in the statue glow as it begins to rise with the sound of grinding stone. A massive construct stands fully upright, bathing the clearing in cobalt light as energy flows through the etchings covering its body. Its glowing eyes fix on Kukuha, crackling with power.

Given he has a set of doubling rings, Ionic's waraxe is pretty much magic already, additionally, if this thing has resistances to slashing, being able to use a trident or hammer would be a good idea. A different spell might work better here.

Hornietelle and Imiriax use spells to improve their allies' combat prowess and prepare to add more. Ionic puts his body between the creature and Kukuha so that the ritual will not be disrupted.

Merisiel bounces a dagger off its shell, but has all the answers to her own question. This is the Kayajima Guardian Dogu, a unique construct with the earth and mindless subtypes. It has armor that reduces damage (hardness 8) until it loses half its HP and breaks. It can emit a cone of force whose range and damage are based on how many actions it uses. It can also shoot fire from its eyes and, well, do this thing:

Jets of blue energy emerge from the Dogu's feet, propelling it forward until its body fills the gate. It then attacks both the dwarf and elf with fists coated in magical energy.

Teh dwarf then finally takes back up his defensive position and readies to fend off a more glancing blow.

Parry, AC is still 24, not that it does too much given the to hit this thing has.

Combat over!

The lines of energy on the guardian fade as it collapses to the ground. Although it is heavily cracked, there are enough intact pieces for a skilled stonecarver to recreate - or possibly even repair - the statue.

The energies swirling around Kukuha coalesces into an iridescent vortex, then bursts outward. Globes of luminescence linger in the air for a brief moment, then fade. The earth grows still, and the clearing is quiet, cast in the light of the setting sun.

Kukuha gets to her feet, casually dusting the dirt from her robes. “It is done. Now that the island’s ley lines have been restored, Kayajima’s magic will protect this site for years to come. I do believe the Society will find this location most appropriate for a new lodge. I’ll send word to Fola Barun to inform her of the outcome.

“I can’t thank you enough for your actions today. I will stay here for a while longer — it seems this island still holds countless secrets. I wish to study them before I depart. Safe travels to you, Pathfinders, whatever destination is next for you. I do hope our paths cross again, fates willing.”

You bid your farewells to Kukuha before heading out. You make your way through the forest back to the beach where Masuhei is waiting at the rock pier to return you to Sakakabe. The captain quips that he saw some bright lights over the island and wondered if that was your doing. He’s curious about your exploits on the island and eagerly engages you about what you managed to accomplish.

Night is beginning to fall, and the sunset glow casts the waves in orange light as the Auspicious Pearl arrives to port. The streets of Sakakabe are aglow with the lights of night life, and people dressed in all manner of Minkaian finery are enjoying a leisurely evening out. True to his word, Masuhei treats you to dinner.

Weeks later, you receive a letter from the newly minted Venture-Captain Kukuha Mukai.

Quote:

Pathfinder,

I am most pleased to share two pieces of news with you. Thanks to your efforts on Kayajima, we’ve officially broken ground on construction of the newly named Three Gates Lodge. The ritual was a resounding success, and now that the island ley lines’ natural configuration has been restored, the lodge will be well protected from any outside threats. I am also excited to share that I have been named the venture-captain of this new lodge. I am looking forward to overseeing Three Gates operations and directing Pathfinder efforts within the region. It was a pleasure working with such a reliable agent as yourself, and I do hope you are willing to help the lodge in the future.

Until we meet again,

—Venture-Captain Kukuha Mukai

Ionic gives a happy huff of air as the statue goes down. He frowns lightly over the fact that it had to be destroyed in the first place, but aquickly notes the thing could probably be put back together...hopefully without the magic killing eye beams and the propelling flame jets in the feet. He works to drag the pieces into a pile where they will be somewhat sheltered from the elements and looks at everyone else. "Gots a boat waitin', don't we?"

He gives Kukuha a hand shake and congratualtory nod, before heading back to the boat. On the boat he leaves the long and grandiose story telling to the others, adding quips and bits of info here or there. Back in Sakakabe, Ionic enjoys the dinner, trying to drink heavily, but not quite happy at how strong the small amounts of rice wine can be, but enjoys the fresh food. The liquor also finally starts getting his tongue to loosen up. "'was good travelin' wid every'ne! Good ta have competent allies."

A few weeks later he is still in Sakakabe, trying to convince people that they should make beer here as well, and reads the letter and silently wishes he could base himself at that lodge.
