I apologize if we're waiting on me to post my prepared spell list. My usual list of resist energy, barkskin, entangle, shillelagh, cure light wounds, detect magic, guidance, grasp, and create water will do in a pinch if we need to move on. It turns out that the most fun exploration spells don't show up for druids for a bit, at least not anything that I can use to spread throughout a whole hex or go a few hexes away. Yet.

Also, that Spell Dancer archetype looks super cool! Unfortunately I don't think it stacks with Puppetmaster.

I’m feeling a hint of the Five Dials episode, which I love dearly, as I do the whole novel, with all the sinister places that just ain't right. :) It really is a shame that he never (I don’t think) wrote anything else for grownups, though I’ve loved his children’s books ever since I was a little girl.

Oh? That's good to know. I thought it was more of a specific counter to invisibility, since faerie fire spells out that it messes with blur effects, and glitterdust doesn't.

Hmm. I'll have to think some more about counter-counter-measures, if Lina decides to try some sneaking and concealment at some point, just in case. She's a bit fragile, y'know. :)

Can I just say that with regards to single, big targets, Meneas is basically highly specialized to charge them down and squish them? It'd be even better if he gets them by surprise, because then he gets the +1d6 sneak attack, for even more exploding giblets. Cavaliers with lances and charges are pretty strong.

I highly agree! A life-saving wand that at least two of us can use out of the gate is a tremendous idea. We only have 8 charges left on the current one.

A fully-charged Wand will run each of us 187.5 gp, and will hopefully last us (at least) through our inevitable assault on the Stag Lord's fort.

I haven't updated the loot sheet in quite a while, but I'm going to sit down soon and figure out exactly how much we will each have to spend. (Any items that had been marked for the departed party members, I'm going to remove from consideration. But we each have a lot!)

I just realized that Lina posted moments before I did. I'm good with whatever time we pick up, whether it's circa noon the next day with plans to travel to Bokken's (and that basically be the day's work) or spend another evening. I'm still planning on making the batch of goodberries. The only thing that timing will affect is whether Brental uses a lesser restoration spell on himself, and alternatively whether anyone wants a masterwork item.

Brental, I think we'll be fine with whatever works for you, whether spending another night at the trading post, or heading off again in the afternoon, since I'm not hearing any rumblings that we're desperate to get moving absolutely as soon as possible.

Oh, and Meneas (and everyone), Lina would be happy to swap out share language for a CLW, if we're not worried about running into more somethings with a language you don't speak.

All right, after some accounting, I have what I hope is both logical and fair. I'm using all of the values currently found in the Loot Sheet, and trying to divide things into the three times that we have sold items at the Leveton Trading Post.

#1: Following Our Initial Defense of the Trading Post:

  • Party: Brental, Meneas, Lorna, Signy
  • Between sales of items and gold found, the four members each received 80.87 gp. {There's two spare copper in there. I say we gave it as a tip to Oleg and Svetlana.}
  • Lorna took an alchemist's fire and one of the silver stag skull amulets, which she presumably took with her when she left after returning from Kressle's camp.
  • Signy took 60 arrows, which she presumably took with her and disappeared with her after her capture/disappearance.
  • Other items retained from this period were the potion of lesser restoration, an alchemist's fire (that Brental is holding), a +2 Composite Longbow with 60 arrows (held by Meneas), a Wand of Cure Light Wounds (which currently has 8 charges remaining), 2 Potions of Cure Light Wounds, and a Potion of Shield of Faith +2.
  • The 12 trail rations gained have most likely been used by now.
  • We also took their eight horses, which we have been using to travel and carry our loot since.

    Lorna left immediately upon returning from the raid on Kressle's camp and likely did not stick around for the division of gold. So anything she would have gotten makes sense to go to Lina next.

  • #2: Following Our Raid on Kressle's Camp:

  • Party: Brental, Meneas, Signy, Lina
  • Between sales of items and gold found, the four members each received 572.4 gp.
  • Signy took 72 arrows, which she presumably took with her and disappeared with her after her capture/disappearance.
  • Other items retained from this period were a Potion of Cure Light Wounds, and 71 more arrows (held by Meneas).
  • The 16 trail rations gained have most likely been used by now.
  • Meneas purchased an inkwell and a journal for 18 gp. Brental purchased leather lamellar armor, a climber's kit, a linguist's codex, a portrait book, and tusk blades for 250 gp.
  • The party as a whole purchased a bundle of mundane healing items that Brental has been using to patch the party up, including a healer's kit, a boline, and some surgeon's tools, for a total of 80 gp (20 gp each).
  • In miscellaneous trades, we traded a bear trap to the kobolds to receive a basket of moonlight radishes, which we then gave to Svetlana in return for a nice reward.

    From there, we went on our six day expedition. Wisp momentarily rejoined the party before she and Signy were both captured. Other than 20 arrows and 4 trail rations that Signy took from the poachers, neither benefitted from any of the loot that was sold on our most return.

  • #3: The Present:

  • Party: Brental, Meneas, Lina, Morof
  • Between sales of items and gold found, the four members each received 1003.48 gp. {There's a spare copper in there. I say we gave it as a tip to Oleg and Svetlana.}
  • Signy took 20 arrows, which she presumably took with her and disappeared with her after her capture/disappearance.
  • As far as I know, we sold most things, except for: 40 arrows (Meneas and Lina each have 20), the 2 doses of whiptail centipede poison (Lina), the masterwork scimitar (Brental), the Wand of Detect Evil (50 charges, CL 1), the Scroll of Mage Armor (CL 1), the Scroll of Bull's Strength (CL 3) (Lina), the Potion of Remove Paralysis (CL 3), the Potion of Remove Fear (CL 1) (Meneas), the Boots of Elvenkind (Lina), the +1 Flaming Bolts (Morof?), the Dust of Illusion, the Masterwork Light Steel Shield (Meneas), the Wand of Magic Missile (26 charges, CL 5) (Morof), the Masterwork Cold Iron Sickle Brental), a Potion (ointment) of Cure Light Wounds, and a Bag of Holding (Type I). We also picked up a new Silver Stag Amulet!
  • We may be working our way through the 16 trail rations we picked up from the poachers.
  • Lina used the whiptail centipede chitin and giant cave tick chitin to craft some stuff, using an additional 104 gp of materials. (Maybe only one for now?)
  • I don't know if Morof or Lina have accounted for what materials that may have used in copying spells, so I haven't included that in
    any of my calculations.

  • In miscellaneous trades, we returned Lana's ring to Oleg for a nice reward.
  • We agreed to purchase a fully-charged Wand of Cure Light Wounds for 750 gp. I don't know if we were able to acquire this immediately, or if we'll have to wait for it arrive. We have 250 gp worth of credit left at the trading post.
  • So what does all that accounting mean?

    In summary:

  • Brental has gained 1656.75 gp and spent 457.5 gp, leaving him with a current balance of 1199.25 beyond what he started with. I believe that means he currently has 1210.27 gp.
  • Meneas has gained 1656.75 gp and spent 225.5 gp, leaving him with a current balance of 1431.25 beyond what he started with. I believe that means he currently has 1442.25 gp.
  • Lina has gained 1575.88 gp and spent 311.5 gp, leaving her with a current balance of 1264.38 beyond what she started with. I believe that means she currently has 1914.91 gp, but that was operating under the assumption that you started with 1000 gp. With what is currently listed in your profile, I'm going to venture that you started with less than that.
  • Morof has gained 1003.48 gp and spent 187.5 gp, leaving him with a current balance of 815.98 beyond what he started with. I believe that means he currently has 1426.98 gp.
  • We have four potions of cure light wounds, a wand of CLW with 8 charges, and (pending Rackal's say-so) a new wand of CLW with 50 charges. Beyond direct healing, we also have a potion of shield of faith and a slew of other magic items that may come in handy. Some have been claimed, but others have not.

    I only used the tick chitin for Lina's new spear, but I don't mind holding on to the centipede stuff for a bit until folks decide if a bonus to trip attempts or Escape Artist is something that would be useful to them.

    And, yes, I had recorded Lina's expenditures for her new spells out of Morof's spellbook, and raw materials beyond bug bits, but didn't include the gp value of the chitin, so I'll adjust for that too in updating her current coin.

    I can include the value of items and crafting materials as well, but I'm operating under the assumption of just dividing money rather than tracking the value of each item we're taking.

    Misunderstood re the centipede chitin! We can sell that, too. I don't anticipate that Brental will make many trip maneuvers, as his only native weapon with the trip special ability is the sickle. He doesn't qualify for combat expertise either, so that would be rough. If anything, once he can wild shape and gain a form that can trip natively at Level 6, he may try that. But that'll be natural weapons.

    Meneas is ruthless and (tries to be) practical when it comes to bandits. He's also been trained from a very young age to resolve most of his problems with violence, and he's getting more and more fey-kin as he grows in prowess.

    Other than that, he's a perfectly normal person!

    Which actually brings to mind what I've been thinking for awhile... we don't actually have that great a candidate for baron/ruler when that time comes at the moment. Meneas would prefer a martial position and is a little bit screwy, Brental's Charisma's not that great, Lina's a tad more whimsical than we'd like, which leaves Morof, who seems pretty unassuming at the moment.

    Well, we'll cross that chasm when we come to it. It doesn't have a bridge, see.

    To review, we currently have a number of possible objectives/leads.
    1. Tatzlwyrm bounties to the west of Oleg's, I think.
    2. Tuskgutter bounty - location unknown?
    3. Kesten's vengeance against Falgrim Sneeg - location unknown?
    4. Temple of Erastil - location definitely unknown, Jhod was just as confused as us.
    5. General Exploration of the Greenbelt - anywhere but southeast, which leads to the Nomen Heights - outside of our purview for the time being.
    6. Bokken's Berries - southwest of the rickety bridge

    There's also a few longer term goals we have.
    7. Stag Lord hunting - we know he's somewhere to the south of the Thorn River Camp, but not where exactly.
    8. Signy and Wisp investigation - we could ask our fey friends whether they know anything about the raven-thing that took them.
    9. Morof's creation of a vineyard for Bokken. Needs to happen after we get the fangberries.

    I recommend we pursue 5 and 6 by crossing the rickety bridge, then head northwards in the hopes of doing 1 and maybe 8?

    I believe we're currently in the hex labeled "none," as we didn't find anything here.

    I don't have a sense for how long it takes to explore a hex, but we've been through Bokken, the tree, an empty hex, and Davik Nettles all in one day. Would it be reasonable to say that we break for the evening and pick back up the next day? If we anticipate looking for the fangberries, Brental would like to prep new spells.
