I will point out that while there is cover, it can be shot though. They are not laying on rock, they are behind tents or crates, which have a break point.I have been using the Obstical rule on p.99. Basically Some of your "Misses" might power though the flimsy cover. Such as crates or the tent( which isn't much at stopping bullets)so roll damage even on a miss as it might power though
Also winona you can also go again for round 4, I'll check this again tin the morning
Winona Blasts at her target, while she hits only the crates he is hiding behid they have been shredded by her buckshot and some of the shot makes it though. (LT 1 shaken now 2 wounds0. Flying Eagle takes shot at LT2, he misses but hits the poor horse, which does not take kidly to the lead in its flank. It goes wild with a kicking and fratic fury, knocking down the man using it for cover.
Rufus lines up another shot and although he cant see though the tent he has a good idea where the target is.(Lt2 now is shaken with 2 wounds). Lt 1, now seeing his crates are woorthless tries to run toward the cattleline, he doesn't make it and leaves himself exposed as he desprettly tries to get out of the canyon.

Lt 2 = Behind Hoses, Medium cover -4 to hit, +4 cover Bonus
Lt 4 = Behind a tent, light cover -2 to hit, +2 cover (1 wound)
Flying Eagle
The obstacles rules always confuse me, but with a -4 to hit, I think that means that if we roll a 4-7 then we do hit, but the target gets a Toughness bonus to damage which you'll take care of, and with a -2 to hit, we "hit" on a 4-5 - is that correct?
Winona Concord
Shootin', shotgun: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Wild die, shotgun: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Wild die explode: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Total 10.
Winona pumps the lever on her shotgun and leans up to fire again, getting in a lucky shot.
Shotgun damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1) = 7
... which does nothing.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
@ Flying Eagle, more or less. The wording is not the best and its really up to the GM if you can shoot though. I think you can on crates and tents. Stuff like rocks and hillside I don't think they can with their current firepower.
i will say you can use bennies to reroll damage. @Winona you hit with a raise as LT 1 is now in the open, you need a 4 to hit him, so you should roll and extra d6. I'll wait until you roll it to apply it to him.
Round 4
LT 4, is seeing the tent offers him nothing in the way of protection and drops prone and. fires off a shot at Rufus, but it once more hits the dirt in front of him. LT 2, is now on the ground and grabs his rifle, running toward the canyon wall below you and out of sight. Three more of the bandits go down with wounds as you start to gain the upper hand.
Round 5
LT 4 seems to be crawling for more cover, but stops to fire off another round at Rufus and hits well below him into the rocky Canyon wall. LT 2, sticking close to the wall starts moving toward the cattle. Anyone who makes a notice roll higher than 6 can shoot at him at a -2. if you roll a 10 or higher you get no minus to hit him
LT 4 shooting: 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3 wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Sorry, busy few days didn't see this. @ flying Eagle, the number are right. But if you only miss because of the cover there is a chance you can "Shoot though" said cover.
Winona shot hits the fleeing Lt 1 (he is shaken with three wounds now). Rufus aims for him but doesn't do much more than make the heavily wounded man run desperately for the cattleline.

Keeper, I'd like to make this a conditional casting. If any of the lieutenants is within 6" of me (I can't tell from the map), I'll Entangle them with the scrub-brush lying around. If not, I'll cast Boost Trait/Shooting.

Round 5
Winona starts to reload her shotgun. down in the [it very few men are still up, most have dropped for cover and a few are straying to run to the cattle line.
round 6
Lt 4 is running toward the cattle line as well, looking to escape,, but he is hurting and has left himself wide open as he tries to run. Lt 1 seems hopelessly entangled in scrub bushes that seemed t have crawled out to snare him. An act that has panicked a few of the bandits who are now just running for the cattle line.

Flying Eagle
Sorry, since you declared that before Keeper's new initiative post, I didn't pay attention to it. I also took the reloading to be a Free Action, but I forgot that with guns it usually isn't. It will take 4 rounds to reload it completely, or you can do a reload action on one turn, then fire on the next, from now on (or do both on one turn, with a -2 MAP to your Shooting).
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Well she has a shotgun, which doesnt' hold many rounds.It does take one action per round unless you have a speed loader or something
Round 6
Rufus hits LT 4, making the man stagger he is shaken. The one hidden by the wall, still creeps toward freedom and cover or something like it in the cattle line You need a 9 or better on a notice roll to see LT 2. Down in the canyon only a hand full of bandits are left standing most seem to be trying for cover and more desperate than anything.

UGh, yes that was round 6, I forgot to mark it. also at this point you guys could just let them run, you have broken the band by the looks of it and took out the boss it seems. Or we could just narrate hunting them down as we are just going though rounds ( very slowly because of me) and its clear you have won. So lets do that. How do you guys want to do it? Narrate how you guys wrap this up.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
I should have moved it on a while ago tbh. But I have had some issues RL and just didn't think
If given the chance the bandits break for it, but the gun ladies you have with you seem happy to just keep shooting. "Its like hunting fish in a barrel" One of them say as she takes aim on a running bandit and puts him down.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
If no one stops them the ladies do not stop until no one moves below. The cattle are emptying out the canyon with the firefight and two of the bosses seems to have slipped into the canyon, but below only bodies lay with the sound of cattle rumbling and dirt clouds drifting over the bodies and the ruined camp.
Rufus Cooperson
Agreed
Rufus gets up and reloads his winchester. He then goes to Devil Eyes and mounts up.
He also moves the thongs holding his pistols in the holsters after he puts his winchester in the scabbard
he then waits for the others before he rides after the cows.
Winona Concord
Winona finishes reloading her shotgun, then turns back over and scans the area. As the gunfire has died down, she gets cautiously to her feet, then wipes some of the dirt off of her trousers.
"Lesse if they left behind any other clues," she says nonchalantly as she holsters her shotgun and then starts rummaging around to find out a little bit more about this gang.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
In the camp below, you can see some of the prisoners' start to move about, now that the shooting has stopped. You see Javier cutting his ropes with a deadman's spurs by the fire and Luke and Bill trying to stand after crawling out of a pit. The other three men seem to be doing the same. As you approach the cook looks up "Te tomo basrante tiemoi" he says in a low tone then yells "My wagon, did the batardas leave the wagon?"
Winona sees the camp is well appointed. Gault is dead with his Lemat in his hands. Around the camp are horses, firearms , tents and other gear you need on the range. Some of it likely belongs to your outfit.
While much of the gear was looted from you, 12 new horses, with saddles are now yours, along with Gault's LeMat and Shotgun. Along with half a dozen colt peacermakers, 4 colt Forntier's and at lest a dozen Winchester '73s. Feel free to add a few odds and ins like pocket watches or knives you find, just stuff outlaws might have on them.
Rufus Cooperson
Rufus takes the time to cut the prisoners loose.
he then goes through bundling stuff for our camp.
If any of the others want stuff, he will let them keep it.
he then helps corrall the horses and helps pack the stuff on them.
once all that is done, he mounts up and starts to gather the cows again.
Flying Eagle
While helping Rufus doing post-combat aftermath, Flying Eagle says out loud to everyone "These guys stole a lot of stuff from many people. The cattle should be branded, so that will help. What about the horses, and all the goods - how can we get the right things back to the right people?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Luke and Bill make their way over to the group "We'll take it all back to town" Nill says " They'll have a doctor, maybe a lawman" he says doughtfuly looking at the gunwomen picking though the dead."Luke you and a few of the boys take hold of those cattle" He Nods toward flying Eagle, Rufus and Winona "That is some fine work you have done, I won't forget it. How was Abby? I don't see her with you but she has a good head on her shoulders and I reckon she may have aimed you in this direction. When we get back to town Drinks, meals and a good bath are on me!"
It takes a few Hours to round up the cattle, Bill Insists on burying the dead saying "even cutthroats deserves a decent burial" but those graves are pretty shallow and hastily done. The Gun women hang around to escort you back to town.
[ooc}Anything else before you move back to town?[/ooc]
Winona Concord
Winona gets back onto her feet and finishes reloading her shotgun.
"Broke the gang for now. Suppose we'll know in a few months if any of the hooligans are going to reunite, or if this put some sense into 'em," she says.
She makes sure to get a good look at the dead before they're interred, especially for any distinguishing marks, in case she's called upon later to identify them for legal records.
At this point we just hope none of them come back Harrowed and looking for revenge on us...
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
I have no idea what you are talking about ( Innocent look), never heard of this harrowed thing, totally innocent of all knowlage
An opps on my part, but you would have found some Money among the Loot,$1500 in bills and coins as well as $400 in gold dust. Bill will suggest you divide it among the rescue party, but that is up to you.
The Blackriver crew head out long before you are done. Burying the dead takes a while and Luke and Bill talked a few of the towns folks to hang around and help you herd the cattle.
Bill makes his way back over to you "I am having most the boys, what few we have left camp here and I am gonna head back to town to recruit. A Farmer among the townfolk you brought said I might be able to pick a few hands up who are tired of dealing with the Black river folks. "
Bill rides back into Exposition. While the Gault did have money on his head, the Black Rover folks who beat you to town claimed most of it. The Sheriff held $400 back for you.
How you divide that up is up to you as well. You will be in town a few days and have some cash, so if you want to do shopping or the like you can do so
Winona Concord
"Given what we recovered, the team can probably afford to hire on extra hands without much trouble," says Winona.
"I'm inclined to maybe do a bit of window shopping, perhaps pick up a little more ammunition for my shotgun," she adds. "Anyone else?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
The town is busy, the Black river folks beat you into town so its in a festive mood. Gault and his men are dead, some of that reward money is making it way into the saloons, the towns whores wave at you from the top deck of the saloon as you ride though the main street.
The town is only a few streets built near the rail station and bunk houses. At the mainstreet you see two saloons, a theater, gunsmith, laundry, telegraph office, a general store a restaurant that reads "Millie's" and what looks to be a Barber and bathhouse. At the fair end of the street is a church and a stable and blacksmith.
Winona Concord
Winona says, "If you gents will give me a few minutes, I need to mosey on over to the telegraph office. Where should we meet up later?"
~~~~~~~~~~
Over at the telegraph office, Winona takes a few moments to compose herself, then puts her badge on the counter and says, "Telegram for the Territorial Marshal service."
She takes a pencil nub and scribbles down her message, then hands it over to the telegraph operator with a silver dollar and a trio of quarters.
"Gault's Gang routed outside of Exposition STOP Some escapees several gang members killed STOP Some amount of local materials recovered STP Leaders may try to regroup later but gang should be broken for now STOP"
Winona Concord
"Yeah, but don't spread it around. Not everyone in Gault's outfit got a pinewood overcoat out of the encounter, and the last thing we need is the remnants of the crew deciding to roll into town for revenge before the law can round 'em up," says Winona. She pauses to let the telegraph operator concentrate on finishing his work.
Once he's done she says, "Keep the change," tips her hat, and makes her way back to the team.
"What's next on the agenda? I can't imagine the drive is gonna stop over for very long. Drink? Bath? Drink while in the bath?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
The bathhouse is a single story plank building, a single door, two windows and a simple sign that reads "BATH HOUSE" above the door. Inside a counter and three doors are the only features. A sign on the counter reads
"Baths : First water- .50 cents. 2nd water- 25 cents. Soap and towel .20 cents."
A middle aged man walks though the door behind the desk. "Well, I can see the trail dust on you folks, looking for a bath I take it. We have nice hot water, good soup and clean towels too. Fresh just came from the laundry"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
The guy behind the desk leads you to a room. One room for men another for women. Each room has five metal tubs, a few have people bathing in them, one just relaxing. In the men's a younger boy fills the tubs with steaming water, in the ladies a young women fills the water. There is a basket with clean towels and a line hanging with "used" towels. Windows are open to let in a nice breeze and you can hear the bussal and hustle of the town as you bath.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
The man nods "Mrs. Hamilton down the street does a fine job, launders my own towels. Don't reckon they will be dry by the time you get out of the bath. But if ya have spare's I'll send your cloths by Laura here to have them started.' He says nodding toward a young woman coming out of the women's room. " She charges .5 cents a pound'
Winona Concord
"Great. Lemme grab a change of clothes from my saddlebags and then I'll leave the trail dust outside the door," she says. She backs up to go rummage through her saddlebags for a work blouse and a skirt to temporarily replace her trail clothes for the time in town, then pauses to address Rufus.
"Rufus, I'll sit watch outside while you and Flying Eagle are in the bath. Last thing we need is an unpleasant surprise if any of the survivors of the routing of the Gault Gang decide to show up in town for revenge while we're all getting cleaned up."
Rufus Cooperson
Rufus takes the time to grab spare cloths from his saddlebags.
I will take a first water, soap and hot water, and if I can these washed?
He fishes out a pair of silver dollars to pay for the cloths and the bath.
Well Miss Concord, sounds like an idea.
He then goes into the bath house and then undressed and crawls into a barrel.
Winona Concord
"I'd rather not take any chances. Don't wanna have to run out into the streets with a Winchester and a birthday suit to fight off some mean-spirited escapees looking for revenge," says Winona. "I'll loiter around until the gents are finished and then take my turn."
She heads over to her horse to fetch a change of clothes from the saddlebags, then returns to the tiny bath establishment to wait for a while.
