Quince Medvyed |

Does it appear to be enough crows to be still problematic? If so I will launch another volley. I was also hoping that be targetting the carrion itself it might burn off.
Once the crows are dealt with Quince continues on with the others toward te fort keeping just off the road incase they left more traps. Following the path as it loops around the far side of the for. He keeps his weapon sheathed but he does have his shield out.
How close are they going to let us get.

Delilah le Fay |

Delilah flies back down to give an update. "You got their attention this time. At least a dozen spriggans are in the tower trying to see what's going on."

GM Wolf |

The first blast would have charred the carrion. The second blast would have made it ash. The crows are now eating off their fallen brethren. You could send another volley, from your distance it would be hard to tell if the swarms are fully dispersed.
You get to the gate without any attacks. Looking up you see two spriggans. They wait for you to say something.

Quince Medvyed |

Quince mentions to the others, "I am going to speak in Aklo, it might go a little ways."
As he approaches, he calls out in Aklo, "Hello, you have not opened fire on us yet so you are wise enough to hear us out. That is a good place for us to start. We had expected to find the folk of this village here. Our hope is that they live and that we might bring them safe home. That is the beginning and end of our desires. We mean you no harm." He looks at the two spriggans. "Perhaps you have a leader that would care to speak with us face to face."

GM Wolf |

As the spriggan seems to inflate just a little and hits his chest the gates open below him. Two large spriggans have heaved the gate open. You can see three more large spriggans stand with boulders in hands and beside them are four wolves.

Quince Medvyed |

Is there a map? Is there any sign of prisoners with the Spriggans. Short of a map how many could get caught in a fireball or a ring of wall of fire. Not that anyone would cast such things.
I realized my own picturing of this fort is mostly wood palisade based on the art on the map of the town. But that might be presumptuous. Is it mostly wood? Stone? One of those rare forts made from left over pumpkin pie?

Dinenen |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I hope not. I doubt we've got enough whipped cream.

Lykàn Delĩss |

Looks promising. Could be a trojan horse or a red wedding here....

Dinenen |

The monk adjusts position as required to keep the group, and the fort gate, in sight. He's waiting for some sign of attack, or a signal to pull them forward, out of reserve. Trying to fulfill the assigned role.

Quince Medvyed |

Quince smiles, motioning to those with him, he continues in Aklo, "You see my escort before you. We are a tight knit unit." As he awaits whether the idea of the whole team coming in is rejected or not he turns to those with him in common he whispers quietly. His mannerisms seem to be for a different conversation. Like they are quietly discussing who would be a single escort if the position was forced. "Is it worth trying to talk to them? Or blast now?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Trying to convey that there is nothing nefarious about our conversation.

GM Wolf |

The boss above also says, "Shut the gates, fight for your lives!"
As Quince asks the question to the group standing beside him, the situation quickly changes. As aggression can easily be seen upon those who perceive a threat... We will be going by initiative as words spoken might change the situation again...

St. John Smythe and Dinenen, then the door holder... then the rest next to Quince and those with a high enough perception check to act.

Dinenen |

Well, if we moved from L15 to the L2 closer to L10, we should have kept really good cover. That L2 to L11 is a lot more dicey, but once they are paying attention to the team by the gate, it could be tried . . ..
The corner of L11 is around 250' feet off, estimated. That's normally a -25 to a Perception check. So, it should help with a slow, cautious sneak up, trying to use the building itself as cover.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
160' of movement is a full run. Means Dinenen is probably 3 rounds from helping. But he really couldn't get much closer and hope to stay hidden.

GM Wolf |

The spell is deeper darkness, so darkness does come upon you, turning the bright light to dim. Also Quince gets a Will Save DC 18.
Those still able to see, watch as the leader's 'wand' explodes in a glob of darkness that begins to envelope him. Deeper darkness is now over the watchtower, gate, and 20 foot radius from Quince.
Combat Map - Many will be off the map, please put on closest square and mark how far off!
Dinenen, you could have been sneaking forward at half speed if you want... putting you at: 250- half speed for 6 rounds or once you want to stop. This goes for everyone sneaking in too!
RECON!!! Only one large spriggan opened the gate. The other one is up on the watch tower with the leader.

Quince Medvyed |

Surprise Round
When the lights go down. Quince drops low and keeps his shield high. He draws the wand of fireball and sends a small mote of fire into the courtyard of the fort. The tiny mote runs through the gate at an upward angle and bursts into a fiery explosion.
Quince is sending the mote at high angle through the gate. I am hoping that if I get it high enough it might blow some of the Sprig on the wooden platforms out! I put a red ring where I was thinking.
Fireball: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 2, 3) = 17

Delilah le Fay |

Are there 'tall grass, weeds, and other plants' where the spriggans on the ground are? Wondering whether entangle would be useful or not.
"Time to go Iodren. Wait for them to stop throwing fireballs." She casts acid maw on her companion then flies up into the air towards the wall. Looks like wooden palisades? I have 60ft. fly speed. If each square is 10ft. I can probably make it in 1 move action after casting a spell? Arrow on the map for where I want to move

GM Wolf |

Delilah, you are fine with your actions but they will happen in Round 1. Unless you hit the Perception DC 27: 15+12 (distance) to hear the whisper. You might and then you must choose move or standard action.

Dinenen |

Half speed (20') for 6 rounds is 120'. 250'-120' is 130' 20' off side of map from position shown. No other movement given surprise round and my ignorance.

the sworn protector may select a ward, a person whom she must protect no matter what the cost. When in combat and the sworn protector’s ward is within 10ft of their ward’s position, the ward gains a +1 morale bonus to their AC and savings throws. This bonus increases by +1 at 5th level.
To select a ward, the sworn protector must take ten minutes discussing tactics and practicing with his ward so that he may learn how best to protect him, and from there on he practices those tactics when he readies his maneuvers.
Surprise Round
Seeing as Quince lights him on fire he moves back though still within 5 feet. Pulling out one of his wands he casts a spell in defense on himself, shield. "Azareth Abjur Discos."
Round 1
He waits for everyone to go before he sees an opening.

Quince Medvyed |

Round 1
Quince nods at Jorne clicks his heels he moves forward to stand beside St. John. As he moved he drew forth a beautiful longsword that shimmered with heat and appeared licked by fire. He raised it his hand tightening on the grip his eyes burning with similar fury. As his hands tighten a sickly green seems to roil and boil off the blade. Quince as he got closer moved faster and slipped into position with far more speed than expected.
Boots of Speed give me Haste. And I would like to Rage.
As Quince meets the giant Spriggan he lunged forward bring his sword out in an straight stab from under his raised shield up toward the midsection of the creature. As he pulled his sword back he struck hard for either leg of the monster hoping to keep it off balance.

Flametounge Damage Haste Peircing, Fire, & Acid: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 7 + (2) + (3) = 20
I assume at least one of those hit.
As the sword found flesh the blade bit deep, fire flared and a sickly hot acid poured into the wounds. Quince yelled out in Sylvan, "Throw down your arms and taste mercy. Lest you are destroyed in fire and fury. Only escaping to the flame of your damnation that awaits you in the bowels of Hell."
I have no actions left to intimidate but . . . still figure I should make the offer.

Quince Medvyed |

St. John actually takes down the giant before him, so Quince could move further into the fort if he wished. Also Quince will only get at most one attack.
Sindri's bead almost gets to the spot he envisioned and exploded 5 feet early. Sorry Sindri, I didn't see your ranged touch.
Sorry too much 5e. There is no full attack vs single attack difference. Man I feel old. My brain.
Given that I cannot make a full attack. I will hold off on the haste. I moved myself to the Blue Spriggan. Where I will only make the 1st Attack. And make my threat.

Delilah flies up to the top of the wall closest to her.

Those with boulders move back and spread out, except for one who moves forward and flings an anvil at Quince! It lands next to you, as you dodge it. Jorne stands beside you doing his best to protect and guide.

Assuming the White Dot Spriggan is on the wall over his head for AOO purposes Quince is going to attack Green Dashed Spriggan. If the situation would provoke Quince would just lay into White Dot.
Quince takes a few hopping steps toward the ladder leading to the platform where 2 of the spriggans await. He leaps as high as he can and again while on the ladder eating up the space to the landing.

Quince summarily slices the large spriggan into pieces and then it reverts to its small size.
The purple small spriggan is on the ground, fell off, and being emcompassed by the glob of darkness.
The spriggan before Quince drops its crossbow and pulls its morningstar. It swings and misses. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4) + 5 = 11
The spriggan on the other side does a similar move and tries to smack the tiger...

The spriggan that was being encompassed by the darkness, seems to have been swallowed whole now. The glob seems to turn to fur or spikes, leaving the creature behind changed. It has black glistening claws, a maw of sharp teeth, black thorns or fur covers its body and it seems to be looking at Sindri, it stands up, though stays hunched over. Then it grows to be large! A true demon of darkness is before you!

Lykàn Delĩss |

Round 3
The Elf stealthily stalks towards the fort and upon reaching the walls begins to climb just as silently as he arrives.
Stealth 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Climb 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 lol I knew I forgot something here.

Quince Medvyed |

Round 3
Quince summarily slices the large spriggan into pieces and then it reverts to its small size. The purple small spriggan is on the ground, fell off, and being emcompassed by the glob of darkness.
The spriggan before Quince drops its crossbow and pulls its morningstar. It swings and misses. 1d20+9 [dice=damage]2d6+5
So if the second Spriggan fell did the first Spriggan die from my regular attacks. I would have not used the Lion Shield on a corpse.

Dinenen |

Still Round 3
The blue spriggan's sword catches Dinenen in the side as the monk avoids the collection of bolts and boulders. It draws blood, but doesn't cut deep, the monk bending in the direction of the swing to reduce the impact even as the blow lands.
As he recovers, he sees the wolf fall on it's face, and goes for a quick kick to the creature's neck . . ..
Unarmed AoO w Bullied: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 1 = 14 Looking at the map, do I get a flank to help that pitiful attack roll? Would that even be enough to matter?
Blunt, Ki Magic: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Delilah le Fay |

Round 3
Delilah shook her crow-shaped head at the loyalty shown by the wolf and let out a caw. They're normally much easier to tame.
With another caw she unleashed heat into the purple dot Spriggan when it wields the morningstar then flies up to the corner or the roof above her to survey the battlefield.
Cast Burning Disarm. Optional Reflex save DC 17 to drop the weapon and not take 5d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 4, 4) = 18 fire damage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round 4
Delilah calls to the sky and crackling in the air coalesces into a small stormcloud directly onto the purple dot Spriggan.
Cast Aggressive Thundercloud. Reflex save DC 18 to avoid 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5) = 12 electricity damage.
She looks at the battle and sees the demonic form, wondering what has happened. She flies over towards the gate to get closer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iodren continues to tear into the Spriggan.
Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 5 = 17 Hopefully still grappled from last round and do bite damage.
