@Vina I go in order on the initiatives tracker (unless someone tells me they are delaying for someone) so the first two players ahead of you destroyed the pit fiend which was just a manifestation of the haunt (and not a CR 20 monster!) and yes all the damage (physical and otherwise) was affecting it after it formed. So you are still holding the charge.

![]() |

If that's ok with you Vina would have just used the first boon (to lay on hands as paladin 9) and not pulled the Ruby Feather then. Lack of feedback on its damage had me think I had to pull a big one on this...

![]() |

@Vina I don't think retconning using the feather is fair. You used a healing spell against a haunt that just missed the first time, and it was then neutralized before the second chance to hit. If you had rolled better on the touch attack, you would have nearly destroyed it yourself the first time.

![]() |

Ok. Read the rules on Haunts before using it, so thought it was AC 10. I guess I was wrong. No biggie.

![]() |

Really funny to imagine all those confused hitting themselves! :-D

![]() |

Gilgrim is probably just faceplanting into his own hammer. :p

![]() |

Fair point. :D

![]() |

Well, now what? I assume if we insist on taking Leventi into custody, he will drop Gellius Thrune into the fire and we don`t get his soul. We don't get his soul and we probably lose the knowledge to close the Hellmouth. If we go out and fight Vetrivides, Leventi wins and doesn't get punished for all his transgressions. One each rock and hard place.
Thoughts?

![]() |

Well, the most interesting adventures require you to make choices. This is the best part of this adventure, as far as I’m concerned.
Possible Options I see:
1) we pick one of Leventi’s options
2) we attempt to write a better contract, that gets us what we want
3) we lie to him, get the soul and then give him a beating

![]() |

If he doesn't surrender as Vina proposed, my vote is fight. Vina would not be in favor of making deals with devils, especially Leventi, as his deals are sloppy and resulted in freaggin Hellknights being bricked into Dis' wall!! I can't imagine how bad his deals would end up for more upright citizens such as our PCs! lol

![]() |

Noke is for a combination of 1 and 2.

![]() |

3 is not really an option for Stan. While Erastil's Paladin Code does not address Evil, it does say I am Honest and Trustworthy, and I don't see either of those being compatible with lying to him.
I was also being absolutely truthful with Stan's speech, in that I am not inclined to sign any kind of deal with this Devil, whether we think it looks advantageous to us right now or not. My apologies if that constrains the rest of the party, but this character has seen enough, and I cannot imagine a deal that would tempt him based on what we have seen.
Stan is smart enough to remain silent while his companions attempt to negotiate, just to see where this is going, but he fully expects this will end in combat.
He is also waiting to hear what Zarta has to say, since she is our leader on this mission, and may understand things about this situation we do not.
GM, do we know what happens if the jar gets broken, and/or falls into the pit in front of Leventi? Do we know anything about how hard the glass might be, or if I could hit it with a blunt arrow and not break it?

![]() |

@Stan Simple glass could potentially be broken by an arrow, this glass looks maybe a little thicker. Looking at the fires that grow from the pit, they look a little more potent than typical flames.

![]() |

Fellows, I am ready to escalate this nicely, calling for a Hellhound for example. Or in another sufficent way. But I think a chance for some more words should be given.
So, my next post will be tomorrow. I think Morgoth said enough.
Maybe Vina or Noke wanna make some trick?

![]() |

Noke is totally for taking the deal.
I always played her as power hungry and easily seduced.
She is free of moral dilemmas.
Her loyalty to the dark archives is almost greater than her loyalty to her goddess.

![]() |

Vina is completely against making a deal with Leventi. We're here to take down Leventi: anything else is smoke and mirrors. Even Mobray who is pro-Hell has recognized here that Leventi is desperate and *against* Hell, so any deal with that fiend will be null and void in the eyes of Hell's authorities at this point.

![]() |

Something. Invisible dude, statues, guy hanging out in fire pit....

![]() |

Just to make it clear to everyone, you have three choices at this point. A and B are not mutually exclusive, they are a personal choice.
A) Defeat Vetrivides, accept the wish from Leventi, get Gellius' soul.
B) Defeat Vetrivides, reject the wish from Leventi, get Gellius' soul.
C) Defeat Leventi, try and get Gellius' soul.
I think I know for several of you, but go ahead and give me your choice as a vote.

![]() |

C
From Vina's notes, our main mission is:
--> If we can find proof of Leventi’s wrongdoing, Vetrivides will award us the soul of Gellius Thrune, who we can then question on how to permanently close the hellmouth.

![]() |

I think C for me as well.
As a player, I like A, but....

![]() |

C. No contest.

![]() |

C is obvious choice for me.
@Vina, Mobray is mostly pro-Lawful. Pro-Hell is partially and forcedly. :)

![]() |

A
:-D
I think A and B are the only really certain options to get the soul.

![]() |

Yes. :-)

![]() |

I very noticed that most people going towards C. Sorry, Noke.
I AM THE LAW (c) j. Dread

![]() |

I’ll take my actions later tonight.

![]() |

@Vina not sure, but maybe Magic Circle against Evil could save you from some effect?

![]() |

Feel free to bring it over if you have it! :)

![]() |

Where is the ice wall? Can we add it to the map?

![]() |

Whatever you guys do, don't protect him against our attacks! lol

![]() |

@All: Why are you guys not using the rerolls Noke grants each of you once per round on a d20?
Even those that are out of the 30 ft reach of Noke still have that for two rounds.
Will post later today.

![]() |

@Noke: I missed that during my last post, and I don't think GM Erich will allow me to reroll my failed saves...

![]() |

Yes, you have to use before you roll. :-(
Fortune (Su)
Effect: The witch can grant a creature within 30 feet a bit of good luck for 1 round. The target can call upon this good luck once per round, allowing him to reroll any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, taking the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the first roll is made. At 8th level and 16th level, the duration of this hex is extended by 1 round. Once a creature has benefited from the fortune hex, it cannot benefit from it again for 24 hours.

![]() |

It pays to read posts properly hey? :P

![]() |

Ice wall is there, blue intermitten line. I will make a note.
Now I see that Lakadee stepped into one square wall...

![]() |

How do the scrolls around Leventi work? Are they a possession that can be sundered or stolen? Or are they a magical effect that could get dispelled? Or something else?

![]() |

Lakadee might be OVER the wall. How high does the wall go?

![]() |

@Anastasia: I don't think bless stacks with good hope (good hope is better than bless I think, and Stan already gave that to us).

![]() |

Yes, I think you should take another action Anastasia.

![]() |

GM, are you ok with that?

![]() |

Yes, that is table discussion about rules, totally cool.
I am assuming the holy ice wall goes to the ceiling (if it doesn't get disrupted, of course).
The multiple scrolls along the wall are acting independently but could possibly be harmed.
The numerous scrolls on Leventi's person he can wield like a weapon, so they could be disarmed, but he could likely rearm.

![]() |

Lakadee might be OVER the wall. How high does the wall go?
The wall is 15 feet high. Or lower, if the celling is lower :)

![]() |

Anastasia the good witch wrote:Lakadee might be OVER the wall. How high does the wall go?The wall is 15 feet high. Or lower, if the celling is lower :)
Lakadee is nowhere near a wall. He's been wailing at Leventi for a while now. I think you're confusing Morgoth's blue wall (south) with the flying/cutting scroll zones all around the chamber (in pink).
By the way can Noke or Anastasia provide healing to those who have the bleeding condition right now? if there's a way to do that it would be great and would prevent severe healing problem down the line. Thanks!

![]() |

Is there no save vs. that slow effect? That's kinda brutal.

![]() |

Is there no save vs. that slow effect? That's kinda brutal.
You only get a will save if you're unaffected by haste (i.e. if you fail your save you then suffer the effect of slow). If you are affected by haste already, slow simply cancels your haste. See this FAQ entry for examples.

![]() |

Hmm.. can't say that I knew that before. Thanks for the info. :)
