9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

Kent and Sean:
Kent shrugs, "I bear no ill will towards the Brujah, it is he that bears ill will towards my Blood. Should I have been introduced as a Malkavian or a Gangrel no doubt his reaction would have been different.

I'd rather be given a legitimate reason to hate someone or something. The more personal the emotion the more passion one derives from it, at least that's what I believe. By way of analogy watching another feed might fill me with envy but it would not fill me with blood. If blood is what I seek I gain nothing, if envy is what I seek than I shall have my fill".

As Sean announces he is Clanless, Kent does his best to observe the reactions of the other Kindred in the room without reacting himself. Personally he cares nothing for Clans, his time in Gary had him interact with many such "lost" souls. Though he does understand how others, such a Duncan, are driven by one's lineage, no doubt his hatred runs deep and is longstanding.

Old Ben:
Slade drives you for a bit and you end up at a bar in downtown St Paul in west 7th street called Alary's. Slade hops out and you go around it the alley after parking in a private parking lot near by with about ten cars in it. You go through a back door and come into a 20's speak easy. Slade brings you to the bar where a guy and lady are working behind it. There are some others around as well. Maybe four or five in dark alcoves. Slade says first drink on me. Anything special you want?. Slade's humanity melts away and you are standing next to a hairy long nailed and short Nosferatu.

Kent and Sean:
Sean: Duncan says perhaps an arrangement could be made. Meet Mateo tomorrow and work with him to solve his problems with his supply. Do well and advance yourself, do poorly and...

Kent: Gordon laughs a bit and says feeding is important and it does get you through the days to be sure, but beauty and harshness each also must feed us lest we lose ourselves.

9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

Kent and Sean:
Kent nods, "Beauty and harshness". Kent repeats somewhat absently as images flash through his head of the Kubrick movie A Clockwork Orange.

He is a bit surprised at the juxtaposition. He would have thought beauty to be Toreador and horror to be the beast, rumors of Tzimisce fleshcrafting spring to his mind. He blinks and smiles.

"Thank you, an interesting perspective, I should like to attend Elysium again after introductions to the Prince for a tour of the gallery when you have more time Primogen Kimball". Kent pauses, "Take no offense Rivard, I'd like to your your laboratories as well but I suspect such tours are not available to the general Kindred public".

Kent notes the Duke's interaction with Sean. Looks like the Brujah will accept the Caitiff if he proves his worth, wonder what feats would be likely to produce that proof?

ST:
Kent is debating on taking his leave now versus exiting with Sean to speak with the other newcomer, depends on what Sean does next and how much time you want to sink into night 1! Next on my hit list for Disciplines to acquire is Auspex I think, I always feel blind as a PC without at least 2 ;-)

Kent:
If you wait or not for Sean is up to you. Talking with him also up to you lol.

9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

ST:
Don't want what I have to say to be heard by anyone present. Kent is going to wait it out a bit, if Sean leaves with Mateo he will wait and just leave on his own, if Sean leaves on his own, Kent will leave as well and interact with the Caitiff.

Caitiff 8th gen Blood: 14/15 Will: 6/6

Kent and Sean:
Though he is unsure of the deeper context that almost certainly accompanies such an offer, Sean has no Clan to rely upon, no contacts in Kindred society, and must accept what is offered to him and what he earns. He bows his head slightly in acknowledgement of the offer and replies, "That is very generous, Duke MacGillavray, though I am unsure of what arrangement ye might be able to make. Regardless, I thank ye and I will certainly strive to avoid the mistakes I made in Chicago."

He turns his attention to Mateo and simply asks, "And where shall I meet ye tomorrow?"

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Kay, Mal, and GM:

Vinny un-obfuscates. "Thank you for the free advice my lady. I'd kiss your hand and do all the normal formalities, but most people find it more comfortable if I don't. Name's Vinny, and this is my associate for the evening, Mal. He's the reason we're here tonight in fact."

Kent and Sean:
Mateo pulls out a small notepad and paper and writes down an address and hands it to Sean. The nights activities seem to be winding down

Kay, Mal,and Vinny:
Lady Thorn Moon looks down her nose at you both and says I have the story Nosferatu. Having two new vampires in my domain... My my, such a night. Should I feel honored or threatened I wonder? I extend hospitality to you both and expect for the duration of this negotiation and your short stay that you will both behave. Now whom ever is speaking dazzle me with your offer so that I might bask in your more imaginative approach then a blunt hammer. A girl likes to have a date before further flirtations

9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

Kent and Sean:
Kent gives his formal farewell to Rivard and Gordon and nods in deference to the Brujah Elder but does not approach again. He considers winking at Mateo but gives a brief nod of acknowledgment instead, no need to instigate the hotheaded Brujah at this time.

As Sean exits Kent addresses him, "Sean.

I did not formally introduce myself, Kent Woolthorn.

Tell me, do you have a place to stay for the evening? My friend and I have temporary hotel lodgings and I would be happy to assist you, at least until you and I both find other arrangements once formal introductions to the Princess are arranged.

No prestation debt tied to the offer, just one newcomer seeking to assist another".

Gangrel 8th gen Blood: 10/15 Will: 5/5

[Spoiler=ST] "Ha, nice magic trick. Guess it is safe here." he shrugged and looked around at the rest of the bar.

Old Ben:
The bartender offers you a large wine glass with a blood point in it sliding it over to you. You see a man and woman sitting at one table and two women playing a game of pool along with the Nosferatu sitting next to you being Slade. Slade says What clan are ya Ben?

Vinny and Kay!:
Mal was a little discombobulated, and tried to take stock of his situation.

How far down the rabbit hole had he gone? How much further would he need to go? What had seemed so simple was now taking on a life of its own. Did he really want it this badly? Was there no other way? He had taken a disliking to this Lady Thorn. She already was pushing her weight around, as if trying to prove something, and they had only just met. She's probably still single.

He dismissed his misgivings. He'd follow the trail of breadcrumbs for now, but the way things were going this was starting to have 'juice not worth the squeeze' written all over it.

"Um hi, yes. I don't really have an offer, per se. It's just that I heard Janice, you know Janice, liked flowers, at the Conservatory, and that she'd be really tickled if I brought her one that she didn't have.

Um, I'd just like to buy a really special flower. For re-planting. Do you have one? I mean, it's okay if you don't."

'She probably doesn't even have any flowers,' Mal thought.

Mal and Vinny:
Kaydee leans against a wall and continues to watch the exchange in silence absorbing what she can about the local kindred.

Caitiff 8th gen Blood: 14/15 Will: 6/6

Sean and Kent:
As the gathering is breaking up, Sean gathers his duffle and suitcase and heads for the exit. He pauses when Kent speaks with him and extends a hand, "Hello. Sean Doyle. No, I've no place aranged as yet. My plan was to find a suitable hotel for the day, but if ye've a place and do no mind, I'd be happy to take ye up on the offer."

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Mal and Kaydee:

"You got this kid. Knock her dead with yer charms, and remember y'got lots to offer." Vinny says to Mal, offering a pat on the back on his way to chat with the other kindred here.
Leadership Roll to get Mal to pull himself together(cha+leadership+natural leader): 9d10 ⇒ (10, 2, 9, 3, 7, 9, 5, 3, 1) = 49
He stops a respectful 6ft away from Kaydee, understanding most people don't want to get that close to a Nossie, and although most Nosferatu smell of sewer, this one smells slightly of dust, and not unpleasantly of pine. "Howdy Miss, the name's Vinny. Ifin you'll give me your name back, it'd be my pleasure to make your acquaintance." His attention seems to be on Kaydee, but an attentive observer would notice that he is keeping a close eye on Mal in case things go south quick.

Daughter of Cacophony 8th Generation | Bloodpool: 15/15 (Points Per Turn: 3) | Willpower: 6/6

Vinny and Mal:
"Well that sounds like free information, cowboy," Kaydee says with a sly smile, "I guess you'll just have to owe me." She laughs and waits for Vinny to respond, immediately interrupting him with "Sadie."

Gangrel 8th gen Blood: 10/15 Will: 5/5

ST:
Ben looked at the Nosferatu for a moment and smiled. "Clan of the beast. This fangs only place?"

Old Ben:
yeah, the whole place is Elysium owned by the Sheriff Matheson, front is a cop bar, but the back here is ghouls and fangs only and one of three places you can get blood until you got your hunting rights. Go check out the pool table then. Those are your clan bro

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Kay and Mal:

"Well then-" Vinny starts before Kaydee cuts him off. He grins at this. He likes the girl already. "Sadie, eh? Hebrew name. Old tongue." He ponders for a second, and then gives a mocking bow, although it is intended to be in good nature. "Well then lady, it seems I owe ya a favor. I'd say ta give me a call, but being all new to town and such, I don't have a number yet." He grins, but then remembers that it's usually an off-putting look, and quickly stops, looking somewhat saddened by the realization. "Perhaps you'd be willin' to show a new vamp around?"

Daughter of Cacophony 8th Generation | Bloodpool: 15/15 (Points Per Turn: 3) | Willpower: 6/6

Vinny and Mal:
"Aw sorry, Vinny. I'm new in town too," Kaydee says. "But I bet you'll find your way real quick, then maybe I'll let you show me around," she teases.

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Kaydee and Mal:
"Izzat so? Well then, I'll be doing my best to learn the area very quickly. Iffin we still ate, or I could be seen out in public, I'd offer to buy ya a coffee, and consider myself a lucky lad if you took me up on it, but that just seems kinda... pedestrian for our lot, no?"
@Kaydee, Should Vinny roll an empathy check to see if he's overstepping any boundries?

Daughter of Cacophony 8th Generation | Bloodpool: 15/15 (Points Per Turn: 3) | Willpower: 6/6

Minny and Val:
"Maybe," Kaydee answers slyly, "but a girl still appreciates the compliment."

@Vinny, What do you mean? Kaydee certainly doesn't mind if Vinny shoots his shot. She's not interested, but she knows being on friendly terms with him can't hurt. She is trying to hide her disgust with his appearance, though, so maybe she should be rolling something?

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Kal and Maydee:

Vinny takes a step closer, reducing the space from 6 to 4 feet separating the two vampires. He's obviously not trying to encroach on personal space, but bring the conversation to less of a shout. As he steps forward, he carefully studies Kay's face for any involuntary signs of distaste. Assuming he sees one, he'll sigh, and take a step back again. "Well, y'can't blame a fellow for trying. I'll still take you up on your offer though, t'show you around once I get a lay of the land. Anyone who can keep a civil tongue and a sharp wit around ol' Vin is pretty alright in my books."
If you want to roll for that, go ahead, and I'll scrub the textbox of this post, and get something else up there :)

9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

Kent & Sean:
Kent hustles Sean to the car and enters the back seat with him.

"Freddy. Sean.

Sean. Freddy.

He will be staying with us for the evening my friend. He needs a temporary place to stay. He may stay with us tomorrow as well, we shall see".

As Freddy speeds back to the hotel Kent turns back to take a last look at the Elysium, "An eventful night.

Etianne Brule is officially the Eldest Cainite I've ever met.

So Sean, you were in Chicago before this? I take it meeting with Prince Lodin did not go well?

That puts you one up on me, even though he is my great grandsire I was never given an official introduction by my Sire. He dislikes young licks, thinks their all Anarchs. Plus he is a control freak but then I suppose you'd have to be to be a Prince".

Vinny and Kaydee!:

"Have either of you been to the Elysium?" Mal asks the two new friends.

He was glad Vinny was getting along well, and figured that he may as well get on the sociable train too before he starts to feel left out.
He was sad that Vin wasn't in with a chance because, well, Nosferatu. In another life, in the before time, Mal might've picked up that torch. But alas, he had waaaaay too many women in his life with too many problems as it is, and adding another any closer than the friend's orbit might just sink this ship.

"Um, I hear it's nice," he adds sheepishly. "I was there, once, I guess, but I must've drank too much and passed out. Heh."

No need to state the obvious. If'n one gets it and wants to follow the rabbit hole, that's a horse of another color.

@Kaydee: I'm sorry, I just wanted to get this down. Are you saying that your character's name is Kaydee, but for now you want us to call you Sadie, yeah?

Mal, Vinny, and Kaydee:
Lady Thorn Moon continues to wait and listen into a long, uncomfortable silence and says finally The University Horticulture department does not usually sell their plants. This is my domain, however, and I can arrange a rare flower after speaking to the staff about what Como may not have. How quickly do you want this?

Gangrel 8th gen Blood: 10/15 Will: 5/5

ST:
"Or I could sit here at the bar and talk to the guy that brought me here. Only seems fair since you gave me a ride. Time enough to meet with the others later." He smiled and took a drink out of his glass. "Anything I can do to return the favor?"

Old Ben:
I take care of the guys in my yard, they take care of me. It's a mutual respect thing. You want to hang in the yard, go ahead. Something interesting comes along? Let me know. Keep the fellas in the yard safe when you stay, don't kill anybody by accident, and respect the rules of hospitality and the road. That's it really. Slade leans back a bit and smiles a fanged grin and then says Welcome to the city bud. In two days the Princess is having her meeting. You should go and introduce yourself and be recognized. Since this town is run by your clan you should do alright

Vinny and Kaydee!:

Mal nods amicably, recognizing this as a beneficial outcome. "Oh? Well great! Thanks! Um, no rush, really. I mean, sooner is better than later, but no need to kill yourself over it."

He reflects that this particular turn-of-phrase might have a different meaning, things being what they are.

"Tomorrow would be great, but if you can only do it inside of a week, then I really have nothing to complain about now do I?

So, um, how much do I oh ya?"

Mal, Vinny, and Kaydee:
Lady Moon looks at all of you and says I am doing a favor for all of you. In return I wish to have credit for your work. The Primogen of the Brujah is missing. He is a retired lawyer named Rick Mattox for the Ramsey County Courts. The Princess has offered the first allowed childer in The cities since it's creation for his return or confirmed death. You will find the Brujah or proof of his death and gift me the credit. That is what I want from all three of you

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Mal and Kaydee:
"Now hold on just a second. Now Mal here is a pal of mine, so I'm plenty happy to help 'im out. But Sadie here ain't got nothing to do with either of us, despite me best efforts, and ain't so obligated (although we'd be much obliged if she did come with). And I got no interest in making chider of me own, so I'm even inclined to do as you ask. But when you say "gift you the credit," do you mean that you want the right to make a childer, or the right to say that you found poor Mr. Mattox yourself? Because credit ain't something I can afford to give out, just the prize associated with it." Vinny slings an arm around Mal, to indicate just how chummy they are, hoping that Mal will have the foresight to go along with it.

Kent wrote:

Sean makes an inarticulate sound of greeting in Freddy's direction as they settle into the car.

Kent wrote:

"Thanks again for the offer of a safe place to spend the day. I had planned to ask the Duke to suggest a place, but the less I owe to the mighty, perhaps, the better. This life is ever full of intrigue, it seems."

Kent wrote:

As Freddy speeds back to the hotel Kent turns back to take a last look at the Elysium, "An eventful night.

So Sean, you were in Chicago before this? I take it meeting with Prince Lodin did not go well?

"Aye, I came up from Chicago by bus, but I spent little time in Chicago; I started from Boston some two fortnights gone. I was no warned of the .. emmm .. prickly demeanor of Prince Lodin, and I did no, as he put it, 'display the proper respect due a Kindred of his rank'. Things went downhill from there."

Kent wrote:

"I did notice that he seemed to no like sharing the same space with me. Then again, given that his, officers? Whatever. They had apparently been informed that I may be passing through by the Prince of Boston who likes me even less. It is unsurprising that Prince Lodin politely 'suggested' I keep moving along."

13th Generation Nosferatu Bloodpool 7/10 | Willpower 5/5

Mal and Kay:
"Fair 'nough, guess you're stuck with us then, assuming Lady Moon's amenable to my conditions, and Mal doesn't feel too mal-igned about the whole thing."

Vinny, Mal, and Kaydee:
Lady Thorn Moon shows that roses are beautiful but also thorned for a reason by saying Did you know that the University of Minnesota is a technology hub Vinny? We have ten surveillance cameras recording on VCR's all day and night being monitored by security staff. Perhaps I shall allow those tapes to be reviewed by the enterprising world renowned scientists of the U of M since you would never be so bold as to take advantage of my domain and attack or steal anything from it, right Vinny?

9th Generation Ventrue - Willpower 8 - Blood 5/14

Sean and Kent:
"The Prince of Boston eh? Is he a Ventrue as well?"

Kent pauses, "Yes full of intrigue indeed, as a Mortal I grew up among the wealthy, their games are not much different than the games played at these Kindred Elysiums. Except the rivalries are older and more bitter. I have no doubt if not for the Camarilla the Duke would have slain me where I stood because he could for the crime of being Embraced by a Ventrue.

If what I was told is true the dislike if not outright hatred between the two clans stems from the Punic wars. That is a grudge even an Irishman should stand in awe of no?

You face troubles in Court no doubt because you are Clanless.

Any slight mis-step will cause our kind to disown you entirely if not to seek to outright destroy you. You are free in ways those of the Clans are not and yet you also lack freedom because those of the Clans will seek to impose greater restrictions upon you as a result of those freedoms".

Kent sighs, "In fact, our proximity as acquaintances cannot be known to any. The Brujah will distrust you and the Ventrue will alienate me. We both have something to lose but we also both have something to gain from an alliance.

I can assist you and you can assist me. I cannot know how or when yet but that opportunity will present itself soon enough. We must be circumspect about this mutual alliance.

Your thoughts?"

ST, can I spend time at the hotel before daytime showing Sean the finer points on Kindred Court Etiquette for his meeting with the Prince?/

Sean and Kent:
Sure and at end of first chapter Sean can spend xp on the trained skill to purchase it

"Well thank you." he smiled as he wandered over to the pool table. "Hi. I'm Ben, but people call me Old Ben on account I am usually the old Ben. Except in Atlanta where they called me white Ben cause they already had an old Ben." Ben extended his hand out for a shake.

Old Ben:
the closer woman is african american with long black hair in a sixties bun atop her head wearing a woven comfortable dress. She turns and says Janice Jones as she shakes your hands you can smell earth and feel the callouses on her hands. You can also see she has colored her nails and filed them but that they are very long. Behind Janice a tall raven haired woman holds a pool cue and sets it aside her hair in braids with golden threads holding it with a mediterranean Greek look to her sharp dark eyes and hawk like nose. Vinny and Sadie!:

Mal mirrors Vinny's chuminess and slings around his own arm, presenting a united front. But internally he was all a tumult. He was only here because someone spiked him a mickey, and now the lady was taking liberties in a way that was not quite entirely comfortable.

Still, it didn't seem wholly unreasonable. I mean, her straight up blackmailing Vinny kinda was and not offering recompense was he was being reasonable, that wasn't nice. And roping in Sadie was just evil, but, as she said, they have their own arrangement so whatevs.

"Got any clues?" he says in way of answers.

Mal and Kaydee:
Vinny, who just had his mind made up that he going to destroy those tapes, and find some way to humiliate Lady Thorn even if it killed him again, takes a second to look shocked. The inkling of a plan was beginning to take root. "Why Madame! I thought I was bein' mighty reasonable there, just asking to be recognized for a job well done. No need to throw threats around. Bit of a steep price for a flower, dontcha think? Lotsa rare flowers in the world, only one Rick Mattox."
He puts on his best leer, hoping that his earlier interaction with Kaydee would lend credence to his act. "I find meself enchanted by a lady who plans so... effectively. Reminds me of my sire. I'd be happy to agree to your terms... ifin you'll give me a kiss upon completion."

And I'll be sure to have Mal with a camera there to capture the moment too, let's see how she likes a taste of her own medicine.

Vinny looks around the room magnanimously. "Y'know what? I'll hold for a kiss for each of us, can't be too bad a deal, Mal's a bit of a looker, eh?"

Until then Janice has some unused zoo caves where you can sleep. Janice would you be so kind as to extend hospitality to our clan mate? Vinny doesn't say anything more, considering that he already pushed his luck quite a bit there. Still with his arm around Mal, he'll start heading towards the door, before looking back at Kaydee, trying to judge her reaction to the little power play that just happened. He raises an eyebrow, and gestures to the other side of Mal, in an invitation to join them, before letting go, and obfuscating again.

Kaydee gives Lady Thorn Moon a serious look. "So you're pawning me off on these two then?" she asks. Then, without really waiting for a response, "It's fine I guess, but it won't be a problem if I don't present myself immediately? I really don't want to start off on the wrong foot in a new city."
