Night of the Gray Death

Sorry for the delay, I'm back now
@Taariik: You moved into the wall there, I moved you down. It's a confusing map as the dreamworld is a confusing place, apologies
@Dru you're not quite up yet, you can keep those actions or change them based on how the enemies act

Taariik strides forward and launches his blade telepathically toward the nearest assassin vine. He dances as he goes and the spirit of champions infuse all of you, even Huxwren who already has one!

The greatsword cuts through the air and slices through the vine as if it were twine. Large pieces of it drop down lifeless to the planks of the porch, but a chunk remains ready to attack.

Huxwren and Grunyak both take their time and clamber over the railing onto the porch, getting a better look at their opponents. The vines crawling across the old surface of the wall seem quite at home, and most upset at intruders, and the ancient oak with an evil face seems quite unperturbed by being apparently locked away from the sun.

The injured vine crawls slightly toward Taariik, and lashes out with a branch at its attacker.

Grasping Vine: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Bludgeoning: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17

The branch hits and delivers a powerful blow through Taariik's armour and starts to wrap around him, but the mighty Ifrit fights with all his strength bursting the grip of the branch and sending it retreating. The other vine crawls toward you.

The Quickwood also moves toward you, but it's roots and trunk move with inexorable force and tear up the planks of the porch as if they were paper. From beneath the soft ground Taariik stands on a root erupts and tries to grab hold of his leg.

Root: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

With a few quick steps however he manages to avoid the grasping root which is pulled back into the earth.

Night of the Gray Death

For clarification: I "delayed" Eldrin and Drusilla into round 2 to make the initiative tracker easier. Drusilla is only up if she'd like to change her posted actions; switching weapons would be your action this round if you wanted to stick with that

With two swift chops, Taariik cuts the first vine into pieces that slowly leak fluid on the porch.

Eldrin magically enhances Drusilla's strength while Grunyak lends Torag's blessing to your arms and your courage. Drusilla switches weapons, and Huxwren prepares hers for attack.

The Quickwood continues its inexorable approach, continuing to rip up boards of the porch as if they weren't there. It seems to grow larger and more menacing as it attempts to invade the mind of Taariik and Huxwren.

Grunyak you could move and redirect the acid splash to the tree if you want? (no need to re-roll, you need to roll a 1 to miss) There'd be no penalty on it and I think you can get within range. Or redo your turn. I also didn't notice that Huxwren has moved after the quickwood in the initiative order, so technically isn't up yet

Night of the Gray Death

After Taariik's wounds are healed, you move cautiously toward the strangely out-of-place front door. It seems well maintained and has a iron door-knocker in the shape of an angry face, but Drusilla finds it unlocked.

15 wand charges would take 1.5 minutes, so Dru's strength and the bless will last another 6 minutes or so

Inside, after a moment of disorientation, you discover yourselves in a foyer. The low light of a single lantern reflects off the gleaming wooden floors and dark paneled walls. The west wall incorporates an old stone facade that holds tall, stained-glass windows and carved double doors.

West is up on the map as it was on the previous map of the house

It seems as if you've come in the front door, and found yourself in the dream mirror of the chamber where you fought the deathweb in the real house. Indeed beside the door you just came in are two windows that look out into the street, and rather than showing the dark passageway you just came in, it shows hook street. Opening the door again to look out shows the porch with its torn up stairs and the felled tree, but there is no city wall now, instead you see the night sky and the rest of hook street.

DC 15 Knowledge planes:
Reality itself is mutable on the dimension of dreams, formed as it is by the minds of the dreamers. Only here it seems that the house, or perhaps its occupants, have a greater degree of control over this dreamscape, and insist that all visitors go through the front door...

Based on your knowledge of the house from the real world, you should expect to see the Desnan temple through the doors to the west (up on the map), and to the south in the real world was a ruined billiard table where the unconscious sacrifaces that you saved were waiting. The house in the real world had nothing to the north because that part of the house had collapsed long ago.

As you are getting your bearings the stained glass windows suddenly move , and a creature made entirely of stained glass steps out of them as if it was emerging from a curtain of water. It looks like a cross between a spider and a butterfly that's made of sharp stained-glass, and it looks angry!

Night of the Gray Death

The glass golem ignores all of your attacks. It makes no effort to avoid them, though both Taariik and Huxwren's second strikes left a few spidery cracks on the tough glass panes.

It slowly and methodically strikes at Grunyak who has moved furthest into the house, trying to pierce him with the sharp points of its glass forelegs.

Night of the Gray Death

Taariik attacks and merely scrapes the edge of his blade down the side of a glass panel, but with his backswing he cuts directly into the edge of one. The adamantine in his blade allows his strength push the blade deep in, and it's too much for the panel which explodes in shards everywhere.

Crit not confirmed

Drusilla finds that one of her strikes gets through the tough defences of the reinforced glass and shatters a section, though her second strike doesn't have quite enough force and bounces off a pane. Her steel morningstar doesn't seem quite as effective as Taariik's adamantine blade.

some damage was resisted there

Huxwren moves with incredible speed, flashing her blade in and around the defences of the golem faster than it can block. Cracks appear on several of the key panes of glass as her dagger scrapes along them, sending painful scratching noises throughout the room as the blade scores the glass. Again the hard glass seems less affected than it was by Taariik's adamantine blade.

2 hits, crit not confirmed. Some damage resisted

Grunyak's first strike is so poorly aimed that the golem easy steps aside from it despite its bulk. His second slams into a panel, but can't break through its tough glass.

A few rats are disturbed by the spray and scurry to run under the southern door. The last one stops before it does, sniffs the air, and turns to look at you. It speaks with a surprisingly deep voice.

"Turn back. You want no part of this hell"

It then disappears under the door with its fellows.

Looking around the room, it's clear to everyone except for Drusilla that something is not right. It takes a second to realise that there had been a door in the northern wall when you came in. Now it's a smooth wooden wall, and only two doors lead out of the room; to the west and to the south.

What do you want to do?

Taariik Charisma: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The spell seems to function a little differently than normal. Rather than the clear consistent feedback it usually provides, here it seems to flicker and change, and the sensations are woolly and indisctinct. He is fairly sure that there is an aura of magic through the wall to the north, moderately strong.

GM screen:

Huxwren: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Huxwren Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Once alerted, Eldrin, Huxwren and Grunyak attempt their own divinations, but only Huxwren can detect an aura, though she is unsure to which school it belongs. Both Eldrin and Grunyak would swear that the wall was lead lined from their sensations.

Moving on, Taariik opens the door to the south, revealing a richly furnished game room. It holds a billiard table and three plush chairs. Several instruments, included a curled horn, nine-stringed lute, and a harp, crowd the northwest corner near a door leading west. A large oil painting of a handsome man that Huxwren recognizes as Nahum Calligaro hangs askew on a cluttered mantle on the south wall.

As you look around, the portrait begins to move. It sneers at you and speaks.

"Have you come to return my book?"
