Kast keeps quiet as they move down, and once they get into the fog. He does pause to take a good sip of the fortifying wine that Izo offers.

"Well, let's get in there so I can read the writing. I might be able to make sense of it," Kast offers, looking to forward with the rest.

Chuckling at Val's comment about accessorizing, Seamus, jest, "Just remember, I started the trend." Touching his own goggles.

Pleased with himself that he was able to find the hidden door, Seamus looks at the oddly scrawled walls, as he accepts the wine from Kast, taking a sip. Chuckling at Kasts desire to keep going, he kneels down holding the waterskin low enough for Pachemu to have a sip, "Here you go girl, I'm sure your old enough in pig years."

Val saunters into the room. ”You know, this could just be an art installation.” She idly glances about at the various bits of Thassilonian spread around. ”I know that if I was a millennia-old wizard queen, I would commission artists to leave vaguely-threatening theme rooms that do not actually offer any danger. Would be quite a laugh to see what meaning people came up with for it.” She looks at one of the blood scribbles. She takes on the stuffy posture of one of the many art critics she has suffered, mimicking their uninterested restraint. ”’A unique style. You can really see how they captured the anxiety in the brushstrokes. And the choice of mixed mediums! It adds a chaotic, deconstructed affect to the scene.’”

Pachemu takes a sip from the wine before Seamus continues moving around the wine.

"Grand. This is millennia art so maybe that is why I see this just as improvised scribbling, my comprehension of the old days has become outdated" Izomandakus follows Valena both metaphorically and physically into the fog " Perhaps is some kind of Art Nuveau"

Moving towards the double doors with Izomandakus, Seamus pauses watching Val strike her pose. As she and Izomandakus talk about the art his mind wanders to his own music. He had always played to entertain himself, curious as to what sounds and songs he could produce on the lute. He enjoyed performing for people, it was an easy way to convince people to like him, without making him feel like he was trying to be something he wasn't. And the money wasn't bad either.

But watching Val, hearing the underlying cynicism of art critics, he didn't know if he could handle being rejected by big city 'experts' Wondering when his music had turned from something he did for himself, to something he did to please other people?

Shaking his head, he focused again on the here-and now, Joining Izomandakus he gestured toward the doors, "Shall we take a look?"

Not sure about what can happen because of the will save, once everyone is ready or able, Seamus will take 10(37/43) on perception to inspect the door and take 10(37/43) on disable device dealing with any locks or traps

You study the walls and, those of you who understand Thassilonian, quickly deduce that the writing consists of prayers and scriptures to Lamashtu. Further, they’re fresh. In fact, some of the blood and ink writing is still wet.

However, you also notice something out of place. Something not of Lamashtu at all. Something different. Written in blood, you find the following phrases.

”If magic bright is your desire, to old rune forge must you retire!
For only there does wizards’ art receive its due and proper start.”

Further, an illusory wall, which all of you are able to pierce with Valena’s aid hides the southern doors. You all see through the illusion to a pair of stone doors, their faces carved with an immense image of a three-eyed jackal’s head.

Knowledge Religion DC 12:
That’s a symbol of Lamashtu!

Sheriff Hemlock, gripping a tattered longsword, wearing slightly rusty chain and hefting a dented heavy steel shield, follows you into the chamber. ”I wonder how deep it goes?” he wonders aloud.

While you are milling about beginning to read the walls (Kast is two rounds into his study), you hear a voice, which at once seems to come from nowhere, and everywhere! You suspect some form of ventriloquism and the echo’s of the fog are confusing you.

”Greetings weary travelers! I ask you these questions, and do hope you’ll answer truthfully as one might to a stranger on the road.” says the heavily accented voice politely.

”What happened to Thassilon? What nation has replaced it?” The voice sounds male, and sounds humanoid.

The voice waits for a reply. As we’re just having a conversation, feel free to babble away - but keep your actions limited to a full round.

Seamus finds no traps and no locks upon the doors.

”Uh…nation? Uh…not sure Magnimar is a nation. This region doesn’t really have a ruler, just a few city-states that maintain rule through local governorships or mayorships, but unless you mean the King and Queen of Korvosa, but that situation is pretty weird right now, with the King dying and the Queen wearing a green dress,” Kast begins to explain local politics. ”I don’t have to tell you what it means when the Queen wears green. But, then again, they are really really far away. Weeks of travel. And not sure they have actual rule here.”

Kast answers honestly, of course, for he has no need to lie.

”And who are where are you? I’m happy to share questions and answers if you’d like,” Kast responds. ”Are you a big fan of the Mother of Beasts, are you?”

"What is this place?"

Unable to read any of the stuff written on the wall, Seamus ignores it. Focusing on the door, he eventually asks, "Does anyone recognize the three-eyed dog?" As Izomandakus speaks the name of the creature, Seamus nods as if he knows who or what Lamashtu was.

As the voice speaks, Seamus raises an eyebrow, kneeling down to Pachemu, he shrugs as he scratches behind her ear. "Shows what he knows, after Vals help I'm not tired at all." While Kast and Izomandakus speak with the accented fellow, Seamus looks from one to the other; pointing to the door while shrugging his shoulders, wondering if they should proceed.

Finding the disjointed voice annoying, Seamus started to fidget with his hands. The oddness of it reminding him of establishments that had their musicians playing from another room or a hidden alcove. Music was always better when you could enjoy the performers and their interaction with their instrument and fellow musicians. This was just frustrating. Hearing someone speak, but not being able to see their face, make eye contact, interpret their posture or expressions.

Breathing a sigh, he waited by the dog door. He knew Izomandakus and Kast were probably finding out really important information about this Scribbler and the Runeforge and probably even the dog god, but Seamus found it just boring enough he began to play with his long knives. Even considering getting out his lute to play while they waited.

For simplicity, Izomandakus knows all things Babau (link) that Kast does not. Given their defenses, he may not want Pachemu attacking... Let me know if Pachemu does anyway. :)

    Xin-Shalast - Roll20 Map - Tracking Sheet

Seamus suffers the DR, but largely overcomes it with devastating precision strikes. Valena, with a cold iron blade, snuffs the life force of blue before it even really got a chance! One down. Izomandakus casts and extended shield and studies the enemy. Kast air steps (don’t forget to move on the map) and hits green twice, cutting through its flesh with cold iron. Rastaf GMPC casts invisibility purge - and the Scribbler becomes visible to Valena and Seamus (who can also see through the fog). I’ve placed him on the map to the north, but remember only Valena and Seamus can see him.

For those of you who attacked Babau demons, please make DC 18 reflex saves for each hit or do 1d8 acid damage to your weapons (or bite if Pachemu presses her attack). If it pierces hardness, the weapon gains the broken condition. You need to roll per hit, not per round.

The Sheriff can’t keep his blade to himself. He appears out of invisibility attacking poor Matt.

With one mighty thrust, the Sheriff takes Matt out! ”Damnation!” he swears again.

The Scribbler casts another spell (I don’t think Valena or Seamus have spellcraft so they don’t know what was cast) and he follows it up with a quickened spell as well. The results of that are plain to see, a falchion appears above Izomandakus and attacks (quickened spiritual weapon)!
    Spiritual Falchion on Izomandakus: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Oh, and before, Izomandakus makes Pachemu to rear back and not bite at the babaus once he remembered they had acidic skin resistant to piggy teeth, although seeing Kast suffering from it might as well scared off the pig.

    Xin-Shalast - Roll20 Map - Tracking Sheet

Seamus stabs the remaining babau demon, hitting for a bit - but it’s cold iron so that helps immeasurably. Valena tumbles under the longspear and pierces whatever tethered the summons to this plane and it puffs out of existance - or at least this existance. Izomandakus further protects himself as Pachemu, amazing war pig, intimidates the demon. A little. Kast missed his first swing due to cover, but he hits solidly with his second and he snuffs it! Rastaf GMPC tries a searing light at the enormous demon.

Rastaf casts Searing Light at the demon.
    searing light: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 2 = 12 (heroism, cover) damage: 5d8 ⇒ (1, 8, 2, 7, 6) = 24
    SR Check: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 vs DC 24
    images: 1d9 ⇒ 8

...and he manages to burn off an image.

The Sheriff blanches at the sight of the demon, ”Fall back and we’ll try to hold them at the stairwell!” he suggests forcefully as he takes a step back under Kast and takes total defense.

The Scribbler casts another spell (I don’t think Valena or Seamus have spellcraft) and he follows it up with yet another quickened spell also. Then he twitches a moment in prayer and a duplicate (sort of a mirror image but just one image) appears. He looks down at himself and realizes he’s visible again.

”Oh, you’ve found me! Please, just one more. I have one last spell to cast… heehee!”

Now that you can see him, he’s an Azlanti human (image) wearing a breastplate and wielding a falchion. He also has a nasty looking cold iron dagger, but unlike in the picture, he doesn’t have it out at the moment.

His spiritual falchion continues to press Izomandakus!
    Spiritual Falchion on Izomandakus: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
    Spiritual Falchion on Izomandakus: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
    Spiritual Falchion on Izomandakus: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

In a voice that fills the room and causes the rocks themselves to tremble, Hello, I am Yerrin-Ku, servant of Lamashtu. Bow before her this instant and I shall spare your lives.” Evil as he is, he still takes advantage of his turn to cause a little pain. It’s almost as if he’s trying to gauge your measure by how much you bleed. He also steps up 5'.

    pincer on Kast: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 20 - 2 = 30 damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16
    pincer on Hemlock: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 20 - 2 = 25 damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (2, 8) + 10 = 20

    claw on Pachemu: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 20 - 2 = 34 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
    claw on Izomandakus: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 20 - 2 = 36 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

    bite on Seamus: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 20 - 2 = 30 damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 images: 1d2 ⇒ 1

The enormous demon seems pleased at the outcome, though miraculously the Sheriff is missed by 1. Kast may also be missed, not sure. "So easy to draw blood. You humanoids are too weak to live. I'll keep the pig though as my mascot."

”Hold on a moment for me, Sea! You will like the result.”

Val suddenly poofs out of existence, appearing right behind the big guy. Using a swift action to expend a 3rd level spell slot to use Step Through Reality to dimension door 30 ft and land right behind Yerrin-Ku. She has Dimensional Agility so she can still take actions after dimension dooring!

”Hello there, Yerrie. You do not mind if I call you Yerrie? Well, Yerrie, funny you should mention Mama Lama, but there was a little incident with her followers trying to invade not long ago. It did not go so well for them. They really could have used a big guy like you and The Writer over there—or whatever his name is. We probably would have been easy pickings for you then. Now, well. I think we will be picking you off the floor in less than a minute.” She smiles as she begins probing his defenses. Taking +2 ac/hit/ref from BoF this round

You see another demon coming through the mist to the south entering the cathedral area! I've put it on the map. We'll call this one Yerrin-Ke for the time being.

    Retired to Taldor?

Smiling as the cold iron long knife cuts into the demon, Seamus watches as Val tumbles under it's spear, killing it. Smiling slightly, "Show off." he comments to his friend. Then he realizes a large green horned thing had come out of the fog. As he turns, the thing bites him. "Blast!" Cursing as the thing bites him, he pauses, hearing Val to 'hold on moment'. Wondering what she has in mind, Seamus turns, facing the large green clawed thing, setting his feet waiting for Val signal.

Smiling when he hears her voice on the other end of the hall, he gives a jaunty smile. Picking up on Val's name for it he tells the thing. "That's Val, Yerrie, you should listen to her she's always right." As he talks, he slashes repeatedly with his cold iron long knives, hoping to cut through some of the images and find out what color the Yerrie's blood was.

Hearing Val's warning, Seamus is less excited about slashing the big green fellow and more worried about his friend. Calling, "Should we follow the sheriff and fall back to the stairs?"
